Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Got this email today:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Subj: (no subject)
Date: 7/21/2002 112:14 PM Eastern Standard Time
From: Wendi67
To: MiLadyDragonn
Would you be willing to donate a beardy to our fourth grade class. We are a small private christian school in El Paso, Tx. and are limited in resources. I will pay all shipping costs and keep you updated with health and growth updates.
Thank you very much
Jared
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~I did a search and found a few references to a couple of different Jareds....both good and bad. I was wondering if anyone else got anything similar to this. I've been hit up for free animals before ( haven't we all! ), so I figured I would put this one out to forewarn in case it is part of a scam. It seems to me that a true request would have alot more information in order to promote trust. Am I wrong?
~If this is not a ploy to get free reptiles, then, my apologies to Jared..whoever you are.

Hey Jude,
I dont think your wrong at all. It would seem to me that if this were an legit request for a donation for a christian school it would of been accompied by a business address and telephone number. The full name of the person requesting the donation. The class teachers name and possibly even the principles name as well. I would never request a donation with out it being in a more formal format then that email.
Like you I will apologize to Jared if this legit. but Im sure he could understand the suspisions.

I have to agree Jude.
There is so little information that it is hard NOT to question the legitimacy of his request. Wen made some very good points...
If I was a teacher looking for a donation of an animal(or anything for that matter)to my class, I would definitely make a little more effort to give more info about myself, my school, my class, my intentions, etc etc. He didn't even give a last name, which is very informal for what he is asking you to do. This person COULD be completely legit and on the level, but your suspicions are very well-founded.
But on a completely different subject, Jude...how is my girl and her eggs doing?

Hello,
Agreed entirely - we've been 'hit up' many times on line, and EVERY time the person asking always provided their full name, school, grade, and most gave a phone number, and lots of details in the orginal inquiry. I think only one time, the email dind't come from a 'school email address' (you know what I mean...) You have every right to question his credentials, I would think.

Yea, I got the same email, same wording and assumed it may have been sent in mass. (no pun intended I replied that they could probably find a local breeder and take the money they offer for shipping and use it for the baby as it would be very close to it's sale price. I honestly don't think having a baby beardie in a classroom would be a good idea anyway as it's not like they'd be there after 2pm every day or on weekends where they could monitor it and care for it anyway. Gina
