Buyer beware. Purchased 2 of this "breeders" baby Elongated Tortoises listed on Fauna on Monday after exchanging several messages. Babies were shipped out yesterday for delivery today. Came in uninsulated cardboard box measuring 6x6x6 in a Gladware disposable container that she split into half with a piece of cardboard. Container was slightly longer than box so could not lay flat. Baby in "upper" compartment flipped over and did not survive. Buyer shipped them in wet cocofiber without heat in an uninsulated box to Seattle WA where overnight temps were 43 degrees. Surviving baby is lethargic but alive so far. Seller did refund half the purchase price after I filed with Paypal but so far has admitted no fault and apparently no remorse. Am filing a complaint with Ship Your Reptiles since that is the service she shipped through.

if the buy did indeed use SYR, then that packing job violates SYR's shipping guidelines (must have insulated box, heatpacks at certain temps, etc etc).

The good thing is that the seller, at least, refunded you for the baby that passed away.
Sad that the baby passed away though. Especially since it could have been an avoidable situation.

The bad thing is her packing method for shipping. Certainly dropped the ball, there, and should really learn, and implement, the proper method of packing for shipment.

If notified, SYR will, very likely, take some sort of action. It does not please them when someone does not follow the proper packing procedures.

SYR called me after I send them pictures of the shipment to assure me that they will be in contact with the seller and that the shipment is in clear violation of safe practices. Buyer did refund but never even offered an apology nor show any remorse for how it turned out. Said she's shipped like this many times and it's always turned out ok. NOT OK!

Here are screen shots of my text conversations with Martha

At no point does she say she feels bad or that she's sorry other than sorry we are disappointed. Yes we are disappointed and heartsick of this. It did NOT have to turn out like this.

Last message from that day

Sorry this was so long but I was just so ticked off when she refused to take responsibility.

Nothing like saving a couple bucks and risking the health of an animal, while having your head up your arse with your shipping practices!

Finally got a picture of the head wound from the holes in the container

This is the gouge in the top of the head of the surviving baby. Poor kid. She is doing ok though. She had a bath today and drank a lot and finally poo'd. She's showing more interest in her food today too so that's good.
