Question Silkworm colony kit

Anyone breed their own silkworm? How difficult is it to keep a colony going, and does it require a lot of space?

I breed 'em. Doesn't require much space. Temp. is an issue, they need warmth. Also make sure you never run short of food and keep handling to a minimum as they are somewhat dainty when it comes to bacterial problems (and fungal ones too). Always make sure you have plenty of food on hand, they are pretty much eating/pooping machines.

If you need eggs and chow in bulk, cheapest & best eggs... silkwormwholesale.com
They advertise on here, not sure if they can ship overseas though. If you need a "kit" silkworm farm is good.

I saw from the Mulberry Farm website that I need to go to www.canadianfeeders.com for shipment overseas, however their prices are a lot higher than most other places...1 pound of silkworm chow costs $24.00!

Oh well...I think I'll go for it anyway, if silkworm is going to be good for my leos...

wow, you can get 2 lbs for a couple dollars more on most sites. or 5 lbs for 55, shipping might be a little pricy with that amount of weight though.

Stupid me!

I suddenly realise Canadian Feeders could be charging in Canadian dollars and not USD! I just sent an email to ask...
