Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

The Welcome Room & New Member Intros How about a place for new members to come on in, make an introduction, and meet the regulars? Talk about yourself or anything else that comes to mind, just to break the ice. Or just pull up a chair and make yourself at home for a spell. |

Lucille, I own a remodeling business and one of the things we do is decorate for people. If you would like to email me pictures of your living room and adjoining rooms I would be happy to give you some suggestions. Regards, Art

LOL I keep trying to convince people that a moderate coating of dog hair on the couch works just as well as Scotch-Guard.
Lucille, I don't think I could be of much help. 95% of the stuff (furniture, paintings, window crap, etc.) in my house came from dead relatives. But I did order a pretty cool rug from JCPenny!

Art, Thank you!! I do not have a digital camera and the kid is in NYC this weekend; I finally found a site and I am off to the paint store to buy a Behr paint 'Burnt Almond' for above the chair rail.

Cathy,
I used to have critters in the living room but some years ago the son of one of my friends brought a buddy over to my house to look at the critters. He shoved his hand in a bird cage without asking, understandably got bit. There was blood everywhere, I was very aggravated, and ultimately moved the critters to their own special room.
Actually, that was the first room that looked decent, the critters are mostly in Vision cages and I have a second hand mahogany desk I refinished and it is beautiful, plus a couple of paintings my son did for me, so that room is pretty much taken care of.

Paul.......it's even BETTER than Scotchgard if there's dog AND cat hair!!!
And Lucille, if I had the extra room to designate especially for my critters, for the most part I would....but I just don't have it. I don't think I could ever move them all in there, however, I just enjoy watching them too much. And I think my cockatiel would die if he didn't think he was at the center of attention all the time!
I did warn my kids, however, that when they move out, their rooms are being converted into reptile rooms......LOL.

I actually spend more time in the critter room than anywhere else in my home: that is where I study and that is where the computer is. I am trying to refurbish the living room on a shoestring however, because I am considering watching TV again (I watched maybe 90 minutes last year, and no more than 10 hours a year for the last 10 years).
TV is a good thing when you have dogs, they can lie at your feet while you are watching movies and so on. Since I all of a sudden have 3 dogs this year, a new TV is in the horizon.
I have two beautiful bottlebrush bird stands in the living room, ( www.waynesparrotstuff.com) that are practically works of art themselves so the fids have luxury accomodations when they are out.
