    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

About 3 weeks ago I bought a pair of adult western hognoses online and about a week after they arrived I tried to feed them both F/T mice (which is the same that they had been feeding on prior to my ownership) both of them ate without hesitation. I was excited and very pleased with both, but since then my female hasn't eaten again. My first attempted was 7 days after her first feeding and no luck, I tried again the next day and still no luck. I just got done feeding all of my snakes tonight and once again she wouldn't eat. I need some advice, do I try live? or what? Someone with some experience help me please lol I need some guidance.

Thanks

Skipping a few meals is no big deal as long as it isn't accompanied by significant weight loss. The female may be going into a shed etc. that is causing her to refuse food. When one of my snakes refuses a meal when feeding day comes around, they skip that week and I try again the next week. I've read some posts from people who believe that weekly feedings in hogs may even lead to obesity and result in a shortened lifespan. Since she's eaten once for you, I wouldn't be too worried. Give her a week and try again. You might also want to contact the party you got her from and find out what kind of feeding regime she was on; she may only be used to eating every other week. You may also find out what size prey she was taking with her former owner, if you gave her a larger meal than she was used to, she may just not be hungry yet. I'ver never heard of live mice being recommended fro hogs.

I really wouldnt feed her live mice, that could be a very bad move... Hogs tend to eat toads and frogs rather than mice in the wild, they do not constrict their prey. They are rear fanged and have mild venom, it is believed that the fangs are primarily used to "pop" the toad/ frogs air pocket things to make it easier to swallow, not to kill the actual animal. So what Im trying to say here is, she might not be able to kill the mouse and once she bites it, the mouse would bite + scratch her like mad causing some bad damage.

Just wait a few days mate, maybe shes about to shed or maybe the temperatures are wrong and thats why she doesnt want to eat. Check the temps, and the set-up.

Is she being housed with the male? If so.... seperate them, that stress of a housemate can stop feeding.

Hope I helped, and good luck with your wee hoggies!
