    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Can anyone verify this het clown marker?

I guess this may only pertain to pastel het clowns, but I figured I would check on normal hets too. I do not own a normal het to compare to.

Ok here's the story. I purchased my pastel het clown from a reputable source, so that's not what I am questioning and it is a pastel het clown. I was watching YouTube a while back and I came across this guy that supposedly does pastel clown stuff. He said that all of his pastel het clowns (may have said normal hets too) have this marker that is found between the cloaca and the tip of its tale. It's an almost complete black line between the two. This was a month or two ago and I wrote it off as not likely. A couple weeks ago, I had her out and I figured I would check, and sure enough, she had an almost complete line. I checked my other pastels (non-het) and other snakes and did not see this trait. Well, I had her out again today and figured I'd ask and see if anyone else noticed this.

That's interesting, I have a bunch of het clowns so I'm gonna take a look when I get home. I'll let you know what I see.

Ok, I'll play.
First pic, normal het clown.
2nd pic, Pastel het clown.
3rd pic, Bee het clown. Sorry about the reflection but you can still see.
4th pic, Pewterbee het clown.
Not pictured, Spiders het clown that didn't have any such line.

Interesting theory. I ran up and checked my het clown stuff. None of the normal hets had the marker. My pastel het clown does. My super pastel het clown does. My pastel lesser het hypo het clown has a smudgy line starting at about the halfway point between vent and tail tip.

Good deal, thanks everyone! It looks like the pastel might be doing something. Does anyone have normal pastels to compare too? I only have one single gene pastel and she does not have this line. My non-het pastel combos don't have it either.

I've got a couple super females. Lemme go check.

ETA - Huh. Both super pastels had the line, along with two more pastel lessers. All four came from someone who has never had the clown gene in their collection. :shrug01: I grabbed a few other animals to check, just for randomness, and none of them had the line - granite mystic, quake, enchi, and an evil little fire. No lines.

So maybe it is the pastel gene? :shrug01:

No time this evening, but I can get pictures tomorrow if you like, to compare to.

I think its just the pastel. I just checked all my pastel stuff.
4.0 bumblebee poss het clown
2.3 pastel poss het clowns
1.0 pastel 100% het clown

4.6 pastel poss het lavender albino
0.2 yearling pastels
1.3 adult regular pastels
1.0 adult super pastel

And every single one of them has it to some degree. Some are a full line some are dotted but they all have it at least mine do.

I checked my Pastel stuff ,
0.1 Pastel TSK Axanthic
0.1 Pastel Butter
0.2 Pastel
0.4 Pastel 66% het Clown
1.0 Pastel 100% het Clown
My Pastel Axanthic doesn't show the stripe at all.
All the rest show it some what , strongest on two of my 66% het clown females , and my pastel butter !!! I may have to change my breeding plans for her....
