Is it normal for a Red-Eyed tree frog to darken the color on his back given darker colored surroundings?

When I got mine he was a lime green color - and now he's more of a forest green (closer to the color of the live plants in his terrarium)

I'm thinking he's trying to blend, but I didn't think they could do that. Is that normal?

Frogs change color due to their stress levels. Darker the frog the more stressed it usually is. Be sure to keep all temps and humidity levels correct, this is very important with red eyes. They seem to get stressed pretty easily, but with correct care can live for years.
