In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry ATTENTION ANTHONY OF AC REPTILES.

pissing duels

I'm not built for that, so, no worries ;)
Thank you for your clarifications, although my opinion remains the same, and we don't always see everything exactly the same way, there will be no duels:D

I did a deal with Anthony earlier this month for 6 baby crested geckos. I too had a hard time getting in touch with him, but he quickly contacted me and was very helpful. I believe he said he had 2 guys on vacation at the same time and also had a minor family emergency, causing him to drive around everywhere. He took great care of me and I got some fantastic cresties!

So be patient, I'm sure he'll get to you.

I can also post the e-mail that Anthony sent to me explaining if anyone would like to see it.

That is bad news actually. I have not had a response in over a month. So the fact that you did a deal this month lets me know I might end up having to post everything about this after all. I will still wait out my two weeks though.

I am reminded of my dealings with Anthony.....the only breeder I know who does not list a phone number......I should have taken the red flag before dropping 2k+.

I do not necessarily see not listing a phone number as a bad thing. I do not list a phone number on my site, nor will I. Its not for any malicious reason, I just do not want someone just calling my phone for no reason. If I am working a deal with someone and they wish to converse on the phone I will but 99% of the time it is best to do everything via email (or back everything up with email) so that there is a verifiable paper trail (of sorts) of the entire transaction.

Those are some good points Brian.......it took 20+ emails to "motivate" him to resolve all of my confusion and issues with our transactions......all of which could have been avoided with 1 15 minute phone call......my number was listed on every single email with a request that he call.....he could have easily blocked his number and called and I would have been happy. Bottom line is that this is not an isolated issue.....it happens over and over again and most are too afraid of the negative reprecussions of posting a BOI thread on him.

In 11 days or so this cloak and dagger crap will either end and the OP will tell his story or he'll drop in (the occasional thread bump notwithstanding) and tell us he was finally contacted by Antony.

Either way, selective dealings still going on while there is some sort of outstanding deal between the OP and Anthony which apparently had a snag of some sort which still has not be resolved or addressed in over a month just says Anthony of AC Reptiles is someone to avoid. Lack of communication, not addressing or fixing a problem that occurred over a month ago is just not good business practice.

Oh, and excuses of people being on vacation and family emergencies do cut it either. Especially if new business is being conducted while old business hasn't been finished yet. :NoNo:

You forgot about the, "trouble with the email server."

I dont list a phone number on my site either. I have to work a full time job and then come home and run my reptile business. I have very limited time and alot of work. Its best to get ahold of me via email as that is checked every day.

Does this also make me a bad breeder and thus throw up red flags?

Kevin,
I could see where it could throw up red flags..

All because I dont list a number on my site?

As far as I know... Im the only breeder that even lists their IM screen names.... so anyone can contact me via the 3 main IM services..... I even list where I can be reached via PM's on the sites that I visit regularily.

But yet Im a bad breeder because I dont list my phone number?

so be it.... guess im a bad breeder

No, not because of you, never said, nor implied that. I have been in this business for around 35 years, and every breeder I have dealt with had a phone number.
Never said you were a bad breeder Kevin:NoNo:
I like to be able to call and have the breeder describe the animal or ask pertinet questions, like, what it was feeding on, prior health issues, etc.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I won't deal with a breeder and less I can talk to him/her. But I hardly buy from breeders now anyway, as my hobby is strictly venomous snakes, and I import my own or have an importer bring them in. (who's not a breeder)

While I don't say it says you are a bad breeder it would be beneficial to have one available even if it just goes to an answering machine. It could make a difference in sales.

i would agree. there is just a simple peace of mind (for me anyway), when i can personally speak to a seller, rather than have all communications take place over a computer.

With my schedule.. .thats exactly where it would go. My hours are odd to say the least... last thing I want/need is the phone to be ringing off the hook.

I myself have Dial-Up and the Cell Phone gets barely any service out where I live but if I were in the middle of a deal or someone asked to speak to me on the phone, I would gladly give the numbers and arrange a time for the call to take place. Most of the time I'm online and the caller gets a busy signal but I respond promptly to E-mails or PMs when my computer doesn't throw a tantrum :)

Now back to the Subject at hand.. to make a deal in the middle of a situation like this doesn't look good on this seller. He's been placed on my "Do Not Buy From" List to say the least. Wish there was more we could do to help you out. Still, you've been way too patient.. Most people would have gone off the deep end by now :) Good Luck

Geez Kevin, feeling a little insecure and defensive? You are not a fulltime breeder and Anthony is.......he needs to have a number listed and that would solve many potential problems and misunderstandings.

You say that you list your IM on the 3 major services......well, IM is kindof like a phone call in that you can have a question and answer session to clarify any concerns.

Some hobby breeders have 2 phone lines 1 of which is strictly for hobby calls.....at least someone can leave a voicemail let you know they have a question.

Wanna know why I hate email? The tone of a person's voice can completely change the question that is being asked and you can get a better feel if someone is not being 100% honest with you.

Lastly, their is nothing stopping anyone from saying on the phone, "hey, can I call you back at a better time or I can only talk for a second."

Wanna know why I hate the phone? There is no paper trail to prove your side of the story should you need to if someone is not being 100% honest with you.

But I do see your point and will rethink my stance on listing my phone number.
