In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

making a trade public.

Myself RedTAILPAT and another member Immaculate_Reptiles would like to make it publicly known on this website that we will be engaging in a trade of two paintball guns, an eblade2 autococker orracle with many upgrades as well as an alpha black tactical with many upgrades both of which are in working condition, for a 1.1 pair of adult surinames. I will be paying the shipping for the snakes as well as the guns. I am sending the guns before hand so he can inspect them to make sure they work and then he will ship the snakes to me. if you have any questions let me know and thank you for your time.

So, a lot of new stuff goes on, on this site all the time. But I'm puzzled why someone would post about a trade prior to it happening. There are good guy posts and bad guy posts, but who you trade with and what you trade seems like a private matter unless once it is through you want to post a good guy/bad guy post.

Seems like premature posting. Wonder if there is a medication for that.

I once posted a thread about this type of thing (transactions taking place in full view of the public). I used an example from the classifieds in which both parties walked away satisfied (I believe a good guy thread was even started as a result of said transaction).

Anyway, the following is that thread.
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173120

It worked out for them, and I hope it works out for you too.

Yes we were under the impression it would be professional to document the transactions for both parties out in the open for reputation of both parties involved since neither of us have any records on BOI or such. I myself want to make sure I am receiving quality merchandise, and I know Pat want's to make sure he's not sending his merchandise to an unreliable source. Since this is an interstate trade of goods via 3rd party carrier, it is a little more complicated then just making a payment and having the receipt handy. That's all. I have no doubt in my mind that he is genuine in his actions, and I have no intention what so ever to mislead him, I am actually pleased these animals will go to such a good home, we just want to do this by the book rather then handshake, with this forum as our witness ect.

One big problem I can foresee is that no matter the outcome, this cannot become a thread that is really only suitable for being in the BOI, which would necessitate it's being removed. Which, quite honestly, I don't see how it could avoid doing so. Once either party posts that the trade went well, indicating that the other is a "Good Guy", then this thread becomes suitable only for the BOI. Since it can't be moved there, then there is little choice left but to delete it. So I'm having trouble seeing a good reason to allow it to progress here.

And yes, we did try something like that before, which had little participation, and the guy who asked to do it and volunteered to manage that forum soon abandoned it. So it was simply removed.

I'm sure there will be one or two "at-ta-boy" posts once this thread runs its course (if things go smoothly). But, that already happens in many classified ads. Once the deal is finalized people will occasionally post sentiments in accordance with how it transpired...i.e. "the animals came in and he/she is a top notch seller!" One or two of these posts generally don't derail a thread. If, however, the commentary gets more involved than that, they would then be asked to continue that discussion in the BOI. My point is that although this thread is more prone to having BOI-type posts, at this point it seems to be appropriate for the biz forum. :shrug01:

What if both parties focus strictly on addressing the transaction and not necessarily their praises/critiques of their individual actions during the course of said transaction? Would this then be allowed to continue?

I think this thread is inherently a hybrid BOI/Biz topic, but it doesn't necessarily seem to be BOI specific. True, names are being mentioned and details of this transaction will be provided (all this is BOI relevant). But, if they simply post a series of steps as opposed to their thoughts on how they conducted themselves during those steps...then this thread is a breakdown of a trade in progress which is a biz discussion. Depending on how this trade turns out...the actions of the two parties involved might birth applicable biz techniques/protocols which others can implement and benefit from.

Basically (and I'm obviously oversimplifying this) the BOI caters to resolving/complimenting peoples actions after a transaction. In this case, however, the transaction is happening before our eyes. It has been/will be itemized into a to-do list (of sorts). It will then be updated as each step is taken. Their actions wont be debated, they will only be listed (I'm assuming that's their plan for this thread). This seems to be one of those "what should I do" threads (threads which are encouraged in this biz forum). The only difference here is that this is a "this is what I will do/am doing" thread. Even though names are mentioned, its still the same animal (IMO). Although such threads are sometimes prequels to a BOI thread, they aren't a problem until/if that happens (however, I can definitely understand why you'd want to take preventative measures by closing it now).

If someone were to state their plans on how to construct a proper classifieds ad...they would come to this particular forum as opposed to the classifieds. IF at any point they offer the animal for sale (non-hypothetically), THEN it belongs in the classifieds. The same goes for this thread (IMO)...as is, it seems appropriate for the biz forum because its only narrating a transaction. That narration wont be good or bad (as it would be in the BOI)...instead it'll be indifferent. It'll be a matter-of-fact transcript of what actions have been/will be taken during a biz deal.

Anyway, not sure if I'm making sense...but I believe there might be a difference :shrug01:. The BOI is where an individuals decorum during said transaction is debated, and the Biz forum is where biz "game plans" are defined. However, again, I can see why closing this now is a good idea (there is a big chance that this thread will turn into a BOI spin-off). Having said all that, sorry for the off-topic post...I should have posted this in the feedback forum :hehe:.

Perhaps you should let this thread run its course? At that point (based on what transpires here) you can use it as a reference regarding what actions to take on future like-threads?

OR, you can entertain Sensei's (David's) offer and start up a section for him :dgrin:. Then this thread would have a definite place. Sensei would kick some serious butt and he's no quitter (hell, the guy is still hounding me for my IC3 report :hehe: ). :bolt01:

I can see it now. The PB Forum. No, not Padded Bra, not Peanut Butter.

The Pre-BOI Forum. Here, we could have trades in progress memorializing an anticipated trade. The Not Ready For Prime Time transactions.

In addition, we could have those members who want to threaten others with the promise that if they don't straighten up and fly right, a Bad Guy post is gonna be put on them.

Inevitably, there would be a PB II Forum. The Post BOI Forum, where updates to past transactions good and bad could be posted.

I'm sure there will be more spinoffs, can't think of them yet, need another cup of coffee :D.

Well, one big factor will be that anyone posting such threads in this forum will merely have to pay $25 in order to be able to edit their posts after the fact and change what they stated about the transaction. Sure the OP can copy that post in their own reply, but then they could then edit that copy, throwing doubt into the entire mess.

As for creating another forum for this purpose, I just see it being problematical in that it will be very difficult to keep that forum from just becoming a secondary BOI if issues arise during or after the transaction. Yes, I can understand why some people would want to utilize something like this, but is it really ENOUGH people to warrant the resources it will take to keep it running smoothly?
