In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Underground Reptiles

And, what mistake was that exactly??? Look, you sound like a nice guy so lets end this here, but i think we can / should all agree that a "bad guy" post was not warranted for this transaction..

Again sorry for your loss(es)

~ Mike Russo

I'm unaware of any contact issues with frilleds. IF your beardie died from simply being in the same tote I think there is far more to this issue. Although you have said you have kept reptiles before I have to question how much experience you actually have. Beardies are next to impossable to kill, and frilleds need slightly more specialized care. If you couldn't successfully keep a beardie....The problem with asking about your setup is you could just do some quick google searches and put together something for pics. Same with temps... Sorry for the loss of your animals but the way it sounds you really need to do some research on care. I'm local and I go to Ryan's shop all the time. He's got good animals and a clean store.

Any chance that the tote could be a factor? (other than serving as a possible means of transmission from the frilled to the bearded.)

Mike brought up some very good questions (as did others)...
"When did you alert the seller of the issue?

What was their response at that time??

Who diagnosed the parasite issue and what was the treatment?

When did the animal die?"

I understand the frilled died and you feel Underground is at fault, but you need to show some proof of their negligence. The other main question is.. was this frilled WC or CB? Most WC come in with parasites.. and personally I've never heard of feeding frills in a seperate container. I researched a while ago about getting one but did not yet due to the strict husbandry requirements and space issues, they are a somewhat fragile species IMO.

I am sorry to hear of your loss but we cannot put that loss against Underground without some sort of proof.

I just wanted a post in here so I could follow the thread easier than searching for it.:dgrin:

You can also just go to 'thread tools' at the top of the thread and click subscribe. ;)

By the time I found out it was a parasite problem the treatment prolonged its life but it never pulled out of it.

I dont know Underground Reptiles TOS however, many sellers (especially ones that sell w/c and "farmed animals") List on their websites that they do not quarantine or treat their animals for internal parasites and that animals are sold as "outwardly healthy".

I Was once going to get a frilled but my local pet store said they're fragile like chameleons and dont like to be in captivity

Harald has a very observant point.

There has simply, imo, been too much time under the bridge to be able to point the fingers at the seller without supporting evidence.

I am terribly sorry for your losses, and I would disinfect everything that either animal had been in contact with (including that tub), watch the rest of the animals carefully and get them to a vet at the first sign of something awry instead of trying to treat them. :yesnod:

I have never kept one..But I had a buddy who's aunt had one..It was like a kid..We would all sit in the living room and he would run around and frill up and come up to us..He seemed very happy..I am not sure if they are all like that??..But one day I will get one..If you look hard enough there are people who do breed them..

I don't see on here that Underground has done anything wrong. If you were having problems to begin with, why did you not contact them and give them a heads up? Yes, I understand you thought it could be stress but, Underground could have helped you with what to do. Any good seller of any sort of animal should not mind a phone call. I can not tell you how many times I have contacted the breeder of my Leos and he always helps me through any problem. I think everything could have been avoided had you called them in the beginning. I do not mean to sound harsh as I am sorry for your losses but I just do n see what Underground did wrong...

I did call them and let them know it was sick and what I was trying to do. I said I would keep them posted of the developments. I was able to keep it alive for three weeks treating with panacure and rept aid. I got very little help when I called. After the death of the frilled dragon I called again and told them what happened and thats when the guy I talked to said to call back after he talked to the owner. I called back and was told that they could give me $25 dollars off of another one. No way was I doing that. They are currently selling them for $75, the same as that offer.
I have kept and keep many reptiles, Black Throated and Savannah Monitors, Rhinocerous Iguana, Argentine Tegu, Bearded Dragons, Sulcatta Tortoise, and a Box Turtle, and have never had any sick animals. I lost the one young bearded dragon like I said a couple weeks after the frilled died. I was very concerned and did a major sanitizaton of everything and have not seen any additional animals get sick. I was only trying to caution anyone thinking of buying a frilled dragon from them so nobody has to experience what I did.

You waited three weeks. YOU decided to keep the animal and try to rehabilitate it back to health, from my understanding. Had you decided not to keep the animal in your collection, and contacted U.R. immediately to send it back, you might have been able to work something out with them. Regardless, they have a live arrival guarantee. No health guarantee, unless I am missing something.

If you don't want the offer, don't take it. The are not obligated to refund you after three weeks, I am sorry. Again, a question asked several times but has been avoided by you. Was this animal wild caught, captive bred, or did you fail to ask about that?

I didnt ask about whether it was captive born and bred, or wild caught, etc... my guess is farm born. I made alot of mistakes. I have learned my lesson and moved on. I wont try again with frilled dragons.

I wouldn't just throw in the towel with the species. If you really want to work with them you should try again in the future. Anyone who has kept animals a long time has undoubtedly lost one or two to circumstances they can't explain.
