• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Guy Brunke AKA Guyco Gecko - Theif, liar, flipper

So you and Guy are working togeather on the stolen photos but he can't chime in here?

I thought you sold geckos to Guy Skanndelus?

And if others have qualms about Guy ACTUALLY contacting people, its being done by myself, and one other that has been posting here as well. I'm sure they will be just tickled to know that they have had their images ripped off and used for someone else's gain. I mean, who wouldn't be?

(Sigh) Sometimes I wonder how we make it as a species. :shrug01:

I agree flipping/reselling is not something that can be controlled. A seller can say they want to sell to a long term home, but once the deal is over there is no legal recourse for the seller if the buyer flips. It does leave a bad taste in ones mouth when it happens (and it has happened to me many times), but the people who are in it just for the money rarely care how they are viewed. That is why over time I form my own do not sell to/buy from list as the days go by. (adding a few more now).

I also agree the photo use issue is a big deal. I make money here and there from my photography, and I have had some things published, so keeping track of my photos and where they are being used is a big deal imo. There have been many instances where other parties have contacted me and asked to use photos I have put online, and I have always said yes, but I still need to be asked. If I stumble onto a site somewhere and see my photo being used without my permission I do take offense. For me it is just common courtesy (and law). You did not take the photo, so why would you think you could use it at will without permission? No matter how you slice it, it is theft.

Oh how cute, the professional web designer didn't notice the logo on the Trachy picture when he cropped and posted it!

Still claiming ignorance Erik?

I am the owner of the R. sarasinorum image that Guy is using on his website. Guy, nor his representatives, have ever contacted me to use this image, and no permission was given. My photos are generally licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported License with a few exceptions. Guy used my image for a for-profit website and created a derivative by cropping the image both of which are violations of the License. I have sent him a cease and desist letter and will be contacting legal council if the image is not removed by 9/10/2010. He has not contacted me as skanndelus alluded to.

Thank you to those who contacted me to make me aware of this theft, otherwise I would not have known.

Guy just e-mailed me to say that the image will be removed by the end of the business day tomorrow. I have had my work stolen before and this is the quickest I have ever had someone respond and say they would remove the image. I won't speculate who's fault the image theft was (his or his web designer), but once brought to his attention Guy appears to be willing to quickly resolve the situation.

Are you serious right now? Look at his name and show some respect.

i didn't notice the name. thanks for serving, i shake the hand of every man/woman i've ever met that's served and thank them personally. seeing that he's a vet i'm sure he could give me a good whooping, so yeah, my comment was ill advised! ha

thats hard to believe Skan, its right there, in black and white (so to speak) the Stamp is hard to miss. im going to start asking friends to do watermarks across their pics, just so people like you dont take them because they are "kool" pics, and think they can simply CROP the immage to make it fit, while cutting out the logo.

guy is.
i don't need the steak house analogy... i do not deal much in geckos.

thanks

Funny, because I recall you emailing me around the same time Guy did on my Chahoua gecko, also with a low-ball offer. Unfortunately I can't find the first few emails since I deleted them shortly after selling the gecko, but I do have the end of our messages and remember quite clearly talking with you about the geckos. I even went as far to scope out some other chahoua for you and once I told you the price the person wanted, you disappeared :shrug01:

i still have the emails if you want a copy of it for whatever reason?

Another case of "I'm broke, but I want this EXPENSIVE animal at LESS than its normal price, so I am going to offer you crap, and see if you'll take it"

EVERYONE is broke. Hell, I'm broke. I work two jobs. I also just got my third chahoua since march. Its calling saving? Ever heard of it?

Still nothing from Guy. Had his "website designer" (who claimed knew NOTHING about the stolen pics) smooth everything over. So either, Guy has been reading this, and refusing to make comment, or Skanndelus sent the emails himself because he IS guy
