In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Wendy Childs, Reptile Addictions

I have no dog in this fight , other than the fact I hate those who don't know darts, but try to keep, misrepresent and sell them.

A few facts. IF you got these frogs from an import from 3-3-5 years ago, and IF you remain in belief that these frogs are true Blue Jeans Pumilio from Costa Rica (all BJs come from Costa Rica) then you had better call up F+W and turn them over because they are part of a 100% illegal import.

Also, pums don't transport tads 100 feet in the sky.

I work with legal BJs, both blue and black, and what you have are almost 100% certainly not BJs.
I don't know you, but we don't need people like you in the hobby, or business.

Great summary of the reasons for the warning. Thanks for pulling it all together.

This whole situation just goes to show how Wendy's PAST does affect her future decisions. IMO, people that show/display a lack of ethics don't suddenly develop ethics and this lack is usually a common thread though their lives past AND future.:shrug01:

Now that a little bit of pertinent info has been posted, I think it's time for Wendy to chime in once again, since it was obvious that this was not a "case closed" issue and if Wendy has frogs from Costa Rica or without import paperwork she has illegal frogs, which she has said she 100% has BJs...

So what is it Wendy? Are you wrong for having illegal frogs? Or are you wrong for saying you have BJs? I don't see too many other options. Does anybody else?

I have to say that I would like to see at least some sort of proof that it was possible for Wendy to obtain that particular species of frog from an importer, or anyone for that matter, from where she is saying they came from.
For those of us that don't know a lot about different species, and where you can find and obtain the more rare species of the bunch, having someone that does have that knowledge come along and show proof one way or the other helps.
And thus far, since Wendy changed her story from stating they were originally purchased from Darren, who later disputed that fact, to then stating that she imported the parents from Panama, which has also been disputed by someone that appears to be recognized within the frog community as stating that they are either not blue jeans or were imported illegally from a location in which they are not native to.
So seeing some answers from Wendy in regards to this latest dispute against her story as to their lineage and whether or not she is selling true blue jeans(whether at a discounted price or not) would be helpful.

I think we've just about confirmed that she was not selling BJ's, knowingly or unknowingly is the issue. Although I still contend that there was no need to nag the buyer in the way Jade did.

Maybe I need to go back and re-read the PM's... but Id say Jade was trying to look out for the buyers best interest. I dont know jack about PDF's species (only know which ones I like due to color / pattern) ... and I would most definitely welcome someone trying to keep me from buying something that it wasnt.

Lets say I bought those frogs and then I went spouting off on a frog forum about these cool frogs that I have... and I name them (or what I think they are). A big battle insues because Im standing by what they were sold to me as and in the end... I have egg on my face because I was misled.

Who really wants that. I'd rather be given a heads up if something is not as advertised.

I believe that Costa Rica allows export of amphibians that are c.b. I know, that that allow snakes, as I have imported them from C.R., providing documentation that they are c.b.

One PM is a heads up. Any after that are pulling someone into a beef.

One pm easily turns into many. If she was annoying wouldn't you say" thanks for the heads up, ill handle it from here" or just not reply?

Your belief is incorrect. Costa Rica is closed (and has been for quite some time) to all commercial exports of amphibians, and most certainly darts.
I do know darts, and only darts.

Hi there.
I really don't want to stick my nose in your buisness, but did you purchase those pumillo blue jeans from Wendy Childs? Reason being, the pictures of them looked like man creeks and not blue jeans. I inquired on the thread as to what bloodline they are from, and she said they were from Darren Meyers. Thing is, Darren just posted in the thread that if the frogs are from him as she says they are, than they are 100% man creeks.
Just wanted you to be aware of this - I don't mean to intrude, please forgive me if I have.

- Jade

No I did not, I purchased some tads and froglets.
I-like you, know the difference between man creeks and blue jeans! Thanks for looking out though!

Sounds like the end of it to me.

...and quite honestly, why can't we drop the third , fourth , fifth party bitching about who PMed who about what. What's important here is Wendy is wrong on many levels, refuses to come back and fess up she is wrong, and apparently has a history of not being honest.
Simply put, not a person I want in the dart hobby or business. Not to speak for the other herpers here...how do others in the hobbies feel about such practises?

Oh, and pretty much anybody with any obligate eggfeeder experience of over a year or two (and quite a few froggers with less) can confirm everything I post here.

I believe the last commercial exports were in 2003. Understory Enterprises now has permits to bring in some species that have been captive bred at CRARC, but if Blue Jeans are among them it has not been announced publicly and they definitely would not have been sold to a pet store for $100...

Rich, read back a few pages and then ask yourself that again. I've been grilling her since the start, to the point that she thought i was doing it for jade.

The only cb amphibians to come out of Costa Rica in a very long time are the frogs that have recently come from the program set up by the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center rub by Brian Kubicki. The cb frogs that Brian produced did not include any pumilio.

One can go to the CITES Trade Database and look to see when the last time Dendrobatids were exported from Costa Rica. The last legal export of pumilio for commercial purposes (according to Costa Rica's reports) was back in 1995. You have to look under Dendrobates pumilio as the data base has not been updated to recognize Oophaga as of yet.
The trade database can be accessed here http://www.cites.org/eng/resources/trade.shtml and does require a registration each time you use it.
