It's obvious there is no true TOS at play here. If the only option to the buyer was a replacement dragon, then that should have been stated plainly and clearly the moment there was communication after the unfortunate death. NOT excuses about spending the money on dragon food ($300.00 on dragon food? Yeah), or when Mike gets paid, or losing a job, or blah blah blah.
The excuses in and of themselves are indicative of a seller who CAN'T refund, not who WON'T refund due to clearly defined Terms of Service.
You, Mike/Lisa accepted a refund from UPS - $300.00 should have IMMEDIATELY been refunded to the buyer. NO excuses. So you've profited $700.00 off a dead dragon and expect sympathy for a non-existent TOS & tough times? (News flash: the freaking nation is in "tough times"!)
Sorry, that's not much different than the common scamming thief. Refund the money.
