In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Big Apple Herp

I would NOT recommend

Big Apple for any purchase as they are a very bad operation to deal with . Steve never sees what he is selling. Its all brokering with other people (unidentified) who ship the animals. Secondly there 72 hour guarantee is contingent upon YOU paying for the return of the animal to them as well as paying again for reshipping if it ever occurs ! In most cases they hide behind there TOS and it becomes very difficult if not impossible to charge back a credit card sale unless you send back whatever is being disputed at your cost !

Steve never emails, but some unknown person by the name of Andy (no last name) is the only communication by written word, and he constantly refers you to the terms with no help in resolving anything that could lead to an amicable solution..

I could be more specific, but its a bad operation and I strongly suggest that you read there terms very carefully as the resource is very limited...

Well said,
A clear warning to all,IMO the animals in question should have never been shipped in such condition.

Better deals and over all quality can always be had dealing with
smaller scale hobbisit.

I have always ordered reptile supplys, not actual reptiles. I dont like the idea i cannot see the exact specimen im purchasing. From what i read, it seems as though they did try to make it right.

the only thing Big Apple makes right

is there ability to provide NO REFUND nor a replacement if its living.. In my particular case, I received a blind False Cuban Chameleon. The size was wrong, the sex was questionable, and the guarantee of it being healthy could not have been verified by Steve as he NEVER even saw the lizard. The false chameleon was emaciated. Thats what you get..from Big Apple

If you complain to much, you then get an email from Andy ( whoever he is, indicating that the discussion is over, that the terms outlined are what we have to deal with.)

In my case, I refused to send back the lizard as I feared it would be doa on arrival.. I lost the charge back becase of that. Secondly, had I sent it back according to there terms it has to be at my expense. Finally if it arrived dead, I would have no way of proving that the lizard was alive when I shipped it... I paid $ 525.00 for that one lizard. What you see is the condition I receved it in.. Enough said... JERRY

Something needs to be done with the terrible condition the animals being sold are in. With canines there are laws in place that require breeders/sellers to provide a full refund regardless of time involved or vet care for the animals when it is shown to be a genetic defect with the animal. Time of ownership being of zero concern, also nullifying any warranties on the sellers part. With the right lawyer I am sure the same would be found with any other animal in the pet trade. This hobby is over run by people and the assumption that the proper wording in their terms of sale or a week, or month, or year nullify any obligation when an animal they sell has a genetic defect.

Big Apple: Send the animal back, we'll refund your money

Izoid: I'll keep her. <--- It was your choice, regardless of reason. You chose not to get a refund when it was offered. Bad choice. Now they have no further obligation to you.

I wouldn't feel obligated either given the circumstances.

That is true Harald, but in this case (if the vet is to be believed) the OPs boa would appear to fit into the genetic defect catagory, which in turn would nullify the sellers TOS, no matter how much they want it not to. Of course that would depend on getting the proper ducks in a row documentation wise.

Oh, yeah, the OP....forgot about him, this thread is a few months old.

i posted on the thread not because i didn't belive the animals are in bad shape, but because the guy that started it made claims & said he had proof but asked over & over again to show it. He later said he'd show in with in the week but NOTHING.

i just dont like it when "they" say they have proof, but then just want everyone to take their word.... No offence to anyone just my personal opinion

i have read this a few times and this is all i have to say about it. On their website, if you order off the website, they do not post pics off all the reptiles they have for sell. I will not buy a reptile unless i have seen a pic of it first. there are times when you get a bad one. i picked a bearded dragon in san diego ca and when i got home i finished paying it off but when it was shipped to me it died in the first week. they sent me pics of what they had on hand and i paid shipping got get it to ga from ca. that is all. but i will never buy an animal without pics first. period. I don't care who you are or what you do. I need to make sure that i am getting what i paid for and i need pics of it first. if you just buy a female cham then there is no way knowing until you get it what it is that you are getting. that is my opinion.

thanks for letting me post!

Rotten apple

This package was well packed that's the positive. Now for the rest, no directions to speak of just a paper of an example of something that's probably not what you got. I watched the Youtube video on the guy putting it together it doesn't go that easy. First off I got the the wide horizontal and the way these cages are designed that cage has two pieces for the bottom the place down the middle for a divider I didn't want the problem there is you have these holes down the middle of the cage and they Supply nothing to plug them. I have two baby corn snakes who could either Escape or be killed or injured trying. So I guess you duct tape it or something ridiculous. It really is pretty difficult to get the front and backed to fit in the slots. I followed the little one paper diagram with few words I set the back-end first as it directed and first thing I notice is two two and a half to 3 inch long deep scratches I figured it was the back I can live with it then I set the front in I noticed a crack all the way across the upper corner which demonstrated just how flimsy and cheap the plastic is very thin and brittle. This cage cost way too much for its very cheap terrible design. I called them right away and got an answering machine also email them the pictures. I am not excited about having to go through and deal with this piece of junk. Probably want me to pay for return shipping and maybe a restocking fee on this damaged item, but if it goes smoothly I will update this review, if I liked it I wanted to buy another it's up to you but I think it's a waste of money. Days later getting the runaround from Andy at Big Apple. He says he did not receive photos, then can you send a different photo circled, doesn't want to discuss a return. If you buy a cage without the dividers extra bottom of cage shown in last picture you got holes big enough for baby corn snakes to escape, be injured or killed, he said to use some gorilla tape....lol. bad bad bad this is a terrible product, service and well I don't need a and. I told him on the third day, you pay this price for anything you shouldn't have to use tape to make it functionable. I need a cage !

Trying my best to figure out just exactly what you're trying to say. It's almost like you're having a conversation with yourself the way it jumps around. I get the part where you bought a cage you obviously aren't happy with, but the rest is a mess to try and follow. Some pictures of your specific complaint might help. Did you buy a Boa cage for a Cornsnake? Is that why the holes are too big to keep them in?

I'm trying, but I'm confused.

Baby corns you are going to want to keep in small containers at first. Can you show us which cage you ordered and pics would be helpful. I don't think his advice about using sticky tape is good - that should be avoided with snakes who can get badly stuck on it.

I had a bad experience with them several years ago. Learned my lesson. Its a bad operation. I find it amazing that people still do business with him !

I totally bought in to their professional YouTube presentation of an adult Miami corn...Steve showed the corn really well...healthy, very friendly. The store confirmed availability. Sent a very healthy, friendly normal corn... and it was too darn bad for me, unless I wanted to pay shipping to return her. I won't do any kind of business with them. Ethics matter to me.
