In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info *Kris Smalley : Disturbing photos

Wow Kris, now thats a man right there, taking responsibility for your actions. I personally commend you for that, even though I think the conditions were absolutely disgusting and cruel. Thanks for coming on here and being a real man...

Not to start a war here but a real man/woman doesn't let another Living creature that depends on them for their well being die and suffer like that without KNOWING something was going on.

Ever smell dead snake? Its not that easy to shrug off and think its nothing. Its a HORRIBLE smell and will fill an entire house up in mins.

No excuse period, you did wrong and should give up on owning any pets.

Cant afford more than one snake dont get another one.

1 snake=1cage

Im not excusing anything that he did, what I am saying is that there are so many "fake" people in this world who try to blame everything on someone else and he is actually saying that yes he messed up. That takes balls, no matter what your feelings on him as a person is, he is taking responsibility for what he did. He also said that he is getting rid of everything and not keeping animals any longer... which is exactly what should happen. I do believe that he should be locked up or at least do a ton of community service or something for how gross the conditions were.

Then he should also take responsibility and turn himself in to the local sheriff's department for animal abuse.

Sorry Ann but I also read a whole lot of blaming in his "confession." Screen shot taken and saved in case someone needs it for the court case. >:)

Kris, how long ago was the room like this? Do you still have animals in your "care"? Do you personally feel guilty at all for basically murdering helpless animals?

It was like that for approx 6 weeks while I was down sick, and I couldn't have smelled a gas leak or anything else with the resp and sinus condition I had. I don't have any animals that are staying, the 6 survivors of the furnace explosion (blowout) are being shipped out Monday to a friend in Texas and 1 for a friend and his family. How could I not feel terrible? All I am saying is that so many of the comments and photos are taken out of context that a correct or absolute judgement as to who is responsible is impossible. My housemate and I were not a couple when these were taken, hadn't been for months, and if she thought I was so horrible and monstrous then, why did she wait to post the pictures until after she moved? She could have contacted the authorities of posted the pics online at any time, it's a bit coincidental to me that she lost animals in the accident (incidentally not a single one that she'd paid for, all gifts from me), she has unpaid utility bills and rent, and now I'm the Great Satan. By allowing this under my roof, I am responsible, but I could no more prevent her bs than I could control the burner unit of a 60+ year old furnace from exploding.

This was my main concern after seein you post Kris, As for your roommates responsibilities..... THERE YOUR SNAKES!!!!!!! If my reptile room looked remotely like that at all id lock my roommate in one of those cages. Your roommates financial situation has nothing to do with the problem.... no one cares! Nobody wants to hear any sorry excuse you have for keeping your animals like that. I hope as a man you return to this board regularly to read what the truly dedicated and caring reptile owners have to say about you.

I second the turning yourself in w/ photos in hand.... thats a man

I would like to know what the forum's opinion is on the housemate who neglected the animals for so long, who photographed her "evidence", and did nothing but wait to be vindictive when asked to pay her fair share of the bills nearly 6 months later.

Eeeeeeeeeeee yikes!!!!! Please just move those animals to a vet immediately before anything further!! I'm worried for your friends animals at this point...

Kris,

At the end of the day, it doesnt matter what your roomie did, or did not do. If you had access to YOUR animals, you should have taken care of them, not leave someone else to do it.

Regardless of her being vindictive or not, the fact still remains, which you admitted to, that these are your animals, your cages, your mess. It doesnt matter what the excuses are, they should never have been left that way.

If the roommate was the one responsible and didn't do any cleaning then it's partially her fault also.

Ultimately the responsibilty falls on the owner, but if the roommate was "contracted" to clean and care for them, but she neglected them, THEN took pics of the "neglect" to post.. how is that okay too? That smacks of a "set up".

The owner is responsible but so it the roommate.

I know that 6 weeks is a long time to live in those conditions, but is anyone buying that it was only 6 weeks? I have never seen so many cages with urates smeared all over the glass. There are mounds of crap, and newpaper that looks like it was in a puddles. The moldy shavings are compressed into the corners, and onto the bottoms of the cages. There is brown leakage coming out of the bottoms of the doors. There are two young boas in a freakin critter keeper!! There are old sheds laying around too. As far as maybe the roomate didn't know...There is a lot of history information posted on that picture post. Stuff about neurological damage and breeding loans that someone who didn't go into the room wouldn't know.

So for 6weeks you basically didn't even think to check on them once? I love my gf to death, and she's definately an animal lover herself, but even if i am only gone overnight/ for the day knowing she's there keeping an eye on everything, i still have to give everything the once over when i get back home. As far as being sick. I've spent hours horribly sick sweating bullets in the 80some degree herp room cleaning, feeding, and filling water bowls because this is something i love doing. There is no excuse to not even check on your animals for 6weeks ESPECIALLY if you were in the same house as them.

No kidding.

Kind of makes me wonder what the nature of his respiratory problems was.

Man I know snakes are different than you're average pet, but if I was someones roommate and the dog had to pee, I would let I out. Of course I would have made sure someone knew to let my dog out.

I think if you're gonna depend on excuses, you should come up with a better one.

There is no way in **** those animals got that way in a few months.. emaciation of that magnitude takes longer than that! So you were sick... really really sick apparently... but here you are and your telling me you NEVER checked up on those snakes? EVER? Even Even with someone else caring for YOUR COLLECTION? You never even peeked in to the room??...... EVER? Nope.. not buying that bull don't care how sick you were or how bad of a job she was doing... if you cared about ANYTHING those poor living beings you would have FOUND SOME ONE TO HELP THEM/YOU OUT!

How many people in this thread would come to my aid IF I was on my death bed here in Arizona and help care for my collection if I couldn't do it for myself?? I'm sure there's many that would come and ship them to competent keepers for me at the VERY least...
(not directed to you AZ boys I know you would all be in my facility in the blink of an eye if I needed you)

I'm gonna go barf now...

I call BS. That is WAY longer than 6 weeks worth of filth right there. Absolutely horrific filth. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Seriously, who cares about the housemate, who she was, how long she was there, what the circumstances were, if you guys were ever a couple...whatever! The fact of the matter is, the snakes were SEVERELY neglected. And they were YOURS. NOTHING justifies the condition those animals are in. Nothing.

I know that 6 weeks is a long time to live in those conditions, but is anyone buying that it was only 6 weeks?

No way. The only time I've seen someone hang those fly traps is when there is already a fly problem and those things are filled up! So someone most likely hung those after it was disgusting in there.

LOL...So where is this EX housemate/girlfriend anyway. Seeing as how it's obvious who took the pics, why try and hide? Might as well speak up and fill in the blanks.
