• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sorry I did a search and did not find anything.

I was wondering why replies to ad's are allowed? It is a bit irritating to see people replying with "do you take trades" or "How about xxx shipped?" or "More pics please?"

Unless I am missing something, It would be much cleaner and easier if all replies to the seller were to be done by pm or email, leaving only the seller or staff to edit or reply.

I hope Admin/Mods do not take this the wrong way. It is just a suggestion. :)

I believe it is done that way so others can see the response to simple questions. This keeps the seller from answering the same question over and over.

Take your "do you take trades" example. He only has to post NO once and that stops all other trade inquiries. Maybe he should have thought of the trade angle before he posted, but he had something on his mind at the time. :shrug01:

Thats just my take on it.

That is correct.

There were pluses and minuses no matter which way I chose to do this, so what I did was to allow the members posting their ad to CHOOSE for their own self how they wanted their ad to be handled concerning replies. Yep, everyone posting an ad in the classifieds section CAN lock the thread to any replies. So if that is the way they prefer running their ad, with no replies allowed, they can certainly do that. If they prefer having replies, then yes, they can do it that way as well.

So the choice is up to the person running the ad. That way THEY can make the decision about what appears to be best for them. So if someone has an issue with why replies are allowed, then please take it up with the person or persons posting the ads where that is enabled. THAT was their choice, not mine.

Ahh that's a pretty good idea.

Again not so much a complaint as a suggestion. ;)

Thanks for the reply.
