Im am going to post this at the urging of some other people to let everyone know the story. I am hesitant to post here due to the last time I did, it turned into a big back and forth, I really dont have time to do that so I will just post the story, it is what it is...
As many here know from past posts about my issues with KS, which I have to give props to Jeff Barringer as he did pay me back in full,... that I and Doug Matuzsak had done a breeding loan deal this past season using 2 males of mine. These were a double het for sharp snow and a triple het for sharp snowglow. These animals were purchased from Doug by me almost two years ago paying cash. A year and a half later, he called me and asked if i was going to use the males this year and I said no i was going to wait another year on my female. He asked if I wanted to do a breeding deal where I send him my two males and we split the litters 50/50, Doug getting first pick. Sounded great to me.
We had 2 litters, Doug called me when the first litter threw, when I was out of town on work, saying we got really lucky, we had a sharp snowglow male as well as a sharp snow male, in addition to some nice sunglows and other pieces. Awesome! He called me about two weeks later and said that we got REALLY luck and got two more male snows in the second litter.
Now I got in a huge ordeal over posting these on KS trying to show everyone these cool animals, and giving Doug credit...we all know what happened there...another story.
So at this point Doug still has not given me pics of each animal and we have not sat down and picked our animals out of the litter. Obviously Doug was going to get the snowglow and a male snow, and I was to get two male snows. Doug called me about another week or so later, pissed and yelling that his snow died and it sucked cause he was the breeder and I was getting two male snows...but by the way, we had a paradox in the same litter, so he was going to keep that since his snow died.
Now I didnt say anything, but it seemed odd that Doug was just bringing up this paradox that he said nothing about before and just decided since he lost one of his snows, he was going to just keep this animal I didnt even know we had...i let it go, i wanted the snow, and Doug at this point in my mind after talking to him for over a year, was unpredictable, easy to get heated, and he had a bunch of my animals, if i wanted my stuff from him, i better play it safe...so i said ok...no problem you keep the paradox, sorry about your snow dying.
3 weeks later I called Doug and said hey we should pick our babies out of the litter he got all bent and yelled about how he doesnt have time...i asked him to send my snow boas, and 2 sunglows that I might keep, he was going to sell everything and I wanted to possibly keep a sunglow or two of the nicer ones, Doug said I couldnt have the nicer sunglows, so I said what if I give you one of the extra albinos and you send me the nicer sunglows, he agreed...he sent my animals, nicely packaged in seperate bags. Nice and neat.
Now at this point Doug still has my big now proven males...i have a massive female triple het and had thought about sending it out to Doug this year to breed, but had changed my mind for a number of reasons. Most of all, I wanted to breed them for myself just because i havnt produced anything on my own to date, and thought why am I in this if i dont do it myself, thought it would be a really cool experience. Now I was still going to offer to leave one of the males with Doug for the season, and was even going to offer him half my litter if he were to just be available to me on the phone while I was trying to do my first breeding, for support. Seemed like a pretty cool deal IMO, but it never got that far, as soon as I said to Doug, Im thinking about having you send one of my big males.......i didnt even finish the sentence before he was screaming and how I ripped him off and he was the breeder and Im crazy and if I wanted my big males back I had to send him $400 and he was going to keep the rest of both litters for compensation. Remember I hadnt even seen any pics of what was in the second litter.
I found it obvious that I couldnt talk to this guy, he was freaking out over the phone, telling me how I screwed up his season and he had been feeding the animals, I offered to pay for the food, he said no just send $400. I did against my own judgment but i really wanted my males back and knew that this had become ugly and no telling what this guy was going to do then I might never see these proven males.
He sent my males, I went the the airport to pick the up...when I got home and opened up the box that was filthy, to my surprise there was ONE of my males (at least it was my triple het male) and some of the babies packed together in two containers...no more nice packing, just a very dirty box, a dirty pillow case, and the babies crammed together into two small containers, the snakes were packed horrible, and the babies had obviously just eaten as 3 of them threw up. What he sent me was 3 normals, 2 anerys and 1 sunglow with NO EYE....I called him, with no answer, left him a message asking what he thought he was doing, I want my big male back...he sent me an email, saying he didnt know what I was talking about and that the babies were in trade for the big proven male LIKE HE AND I HAD TALKED ABOUT. Yep, he just took it upon himself to make a trade for an animal that we NEVER talked about trading...why on earth would I do that for a bunch of normals, 2 anerys and a one eyed sunglow...it was obvious to me he was trying to create an email to support his lie that I WANTED to trade my male for these animals...no way!!!
So thats where we are, I cancelled the $400 check thankfully in time, so he didnt get that, but he is not going to give my male back, or any more of my share of the two litters. This is a small hobby for me, and I honestly might even be getting out for the most part due to work, but I do want everyone to know that this is the truth, this is how Doug Matuszak does business and I would just advise strict caution when doing anything with him.
