In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....
forward the email to your rep. with your concerns. mine is already looking into it. the more reps that look into it the better chance our concerns will be heard.
howard

Great advice. I am already typing up an email of concern to my three FedEx contacts (one of which is in the legal department).

Imo the guy who produces only 1-2 clutches a year might mess up but more then likely they wont do it deliberately. The shady flipper and the other cut corners types are the ones that will package animals improperly in an attempt to cut costs. Most small time hobbyists are doing this for fun and a couple bucks here in there arnt as big deal.

just my opinion though.

Look guys we're not here to fight about who's dropping the prices or what the definition of either a small business or a hobbyist is. The only thing at hand right now is the fact that SYR never provided a waiver for UPS and now they are trying to pull the same thing with Fedex. If you want to call your representative go ahead otherwise lets keep the personal attacks out of the thread. Who cares who produces what, there are careless buyers and sellers alike and they don't need more tools to ruin it for everyone!

They may not do it deliberately but it still causes the same damage to the hobby, thats why this site was created, to give guidance to new people who have questions. This will be my first year dropping eggs but I've been on this site for a long time doing my research. I've owned snakes for over 3 years now just waiting for them to get big enough and making sure I have all the information I need to be successfull and not break any laws.

Guys, this is still the BOI. This thread is about SYR, specifically about their business practices, customer service etc. It's not for speculations or discussions about shipping practices in general, or organizing protests to FedEx.
A thread had been created in the shipping forum about SYR going with FedEx. Take all the side discussion about that topic there and keep this thread on topic about SYR as a company doing business.

Third party shipping companies are opening the doors to people who should not ship in the first place. Some people run ads for local sales only. Then there is someone who comes along who is at a distance who says that they will buy it if they ship it. The seller says that he doesn't want to ship and the potential buyer says that it's easy, and that they will walk them through the process. So the seller agrees, and ships it off. The package wasn't done right, or sealed right and a problem arises.

Most hobbiest do care about how things are done, but there is the small percent who could care less. It's that small percent who are going to ruin it for everyone.

By supporting a third party shipping company you are inviting problems into the industry. This industry has enough problems to deal with, and we don't need more.

By supporting a third party shipper, you are contributing to the end of reptile shipping. It will only be a matter of time. In the short term, you might be saving a few bucks, but the long term is what suffers. If this industry is going to be successful in the future, shipping needs to be available. Increasing the chances of ruining shipping, are increasing the odds that the industry will fail.

Sounds good, and I understand the argument, but for someone like me or my friends, that ship once, maybe twice a year. What would you suggest? Drive across country with everything in a cooler?

Might be Handy for anyone.

Def not something i support at all. Ive never used their service to ship snakes only supplies. Sure hope they do not get the green light

What is the difference if somebody who isn't following shipping rules anyhow ships via SYR or not?

If FedEx recieves a box that contains snakes and that box is improperly packaged what does it matter whether it was shipped via SYR or if the person printed their label off the FedEx site?

I fail to see how it is going to be SYR's fault if FedEx decides to stop shipping snakes. They have videos showing the proper way to pack boxes and sell shipping supplies so that folks can ship properly. Obviously that doesn't mean everyone that uses the service will pack properly, but its no different than if the person wasn't using SYR. SYR is at least trying to educate their customers on the proper ways to pack a box.

Every day folks ship against the rules with FedEx, UPS, USPS and probably even Delta. That all has an effect on the possibilities of whether those shippers will or will not allow / disallow the shipping of snakes. Tons of emails to rep's will also have an impact on whether a carrier allows shipping or not. If it becomes more hassle than its worth they will stop. Then you'll all have to go back to the way it was done 10 years ago ( you just pack the box as best you can and send it out) or not ship at all.

You fail to see that when a label is printed via SYR their acct # is on that label. So if someone does something stupid it goes back on SYR not the shipper.

And all the talk and promises im sure SYR as spoken of will haunt them when FedEx comes after them for their customers screw up. Which will not only kill their business but all of ours as well.

I for one will not believe a word SYR says till they PROVE they are allowed to do what they claim. Just like they claimed to ship snakes before but never was granted that permission.

Unless they changed their video.. this is false. They were advising to not follow the lacy act. That is a Federal Law.

Bingo. They posted on this site stating not to label the box at all when they shipped UPS.

Why, because they were NOT allowed to ship snakes via UPS so not marking it only made it more devious on their part.

Why even support a company that failed first time. Second time will be worse and effect ALL of us. Get your own certification and be done.

I'll be sticking with my FedEx certification.

FedEx will not ever for any reason allow third party shipping. This is what I've heard from many people at FedEx. My rep at FedEx even knew about the Reptster crap when I signed up for my certification and she said FedEx would be closing down any providers like them ASAP.

There was a new service (DFS) that opened up just a few months ago and they have already been closed down.

GET CERTIFIED WITH FEDEX PEOPLE. It's easy and FREE.

I told them when I applied, that the video was wrong, and that it is in violation of federal law to NOT mark the box properly when shipping CITES appx II animals, which Boas fall under. They responded with, they don't recommend it, but if I feel I have to, then go ahead.

I haven't used them since, and only used them that one time because the customer insisted.
