In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am writing this because I can now, unfortunately, no longer get in contact with Ron Billingsley concerning a dwarf caiman that I bought and paid for on 1/15/2011. When I purchased the caiman, I paid for it via Paypal on 1/15/2011 and called Ron who stated that the animal was in stock, healthy, and would only be shipped Delta Dash because of the cold weather where he lives (Noblesville, Indiana.) He stated that he had a shipment going out that Monday morning and he would ship mine then, first thing, and e-mail me the flight information so that I could pick it up at the airport Monday afternoon. I agreed, paid for the animal and the shipping and waited. Monday (1/17/2011) rolls around and no information from Ron, so I called him and he said he was "delivering some deer" and would be taking the caiman to the airport later that day. Later that day and nothing from Ron, so I called again and he stated that Delta Dash was "too expensive" and he could not ship that way, even though I sent him $85.00 to ship Delta Dash as stated in his ad. He said he had worked it out to ship the animal Delta AVI and would do so Tuesday (1/18.) Tuesday, the whole thing starts over again with a message from Ron stating that the weather was bad and he could not get to the airport. Wednesday, no contact until late from him again and when I called he said he "could not make it to the airport again." Keep in mind that i work and had asked off tentatively the 18th and 19th and had taken the day off on the 17th entirely so that I could pick up the caiman at the airport. The next week rolls around and Ron agrees to ship out on 1/24/2011. Once again I get no call and find out that he has not shipped the animal via a e-mail. He then states that he will "100%" ship the animal on the following day (1/25/2011) and once again he does not contact me to say anything and has not responded to my repeated e-mails and calls. I have formally filed a claim against him on Paypal for a refund AFTER I called several times asking for a refund and also did the same via e-mails. He will not respond to me in any capacity and I felt obligated to post this.
Sincerely,
Scott Bryan

Ron runs a reptile expo in Indiana and one in Grand Rapids Michigan. Ive done some dealings with him and so have others in my area at the GR expo. I can honestly say that Ive never met anyone that has bought from him that was happy about it afterwords. I hope this all gets resolved and you get your money back.

Wow! With a quick search of the name, "Ron Billingsley", I got enough bad info on the first page that I'd never dream of doing business with him. Not trying to flame the OP, but always do a search before doing business with some online!! (That statement is as much for anyone new reading this, as anyone else.)

You should be able to get your money back via Paypal since he's shipped nothing to you. Good luck!

I didn't even have to search, right when I read Ron Billingsly somethin clicked in my head and I knew I had heard bad about him. Like Matt said research before you buy anything! Sorry you got burned hopefully paypal will refund you.

I did find one bad thread about ticks and his animals but went against my better judgement and did the deal with him because he was the only one I could find that week with the type of caiman that I wanted for my son. I did insist on Paypal when doing the deal and hope that they will come thru.

Not surprising....Ron is one of the biggest scumbags I have run across in my time in this hobby. He always has loads of dead dying and diseased animals for sale on his tables and has admitted that he only does this for money. I've had it out with him plenty of times in the past and would love nothing more than to see him just disappear from the hobby....sadly, that's not likely to happen anytime soon with his recent foray into promoting shows.

The things I've witnessed from him in person would make any her per cringe. I would not purchase a deli cup from such a negligent sorry excuse of a reptile keeper.

Ron "Dr. Death" Billingsly

I have purchased several animals from on Billingsley. All of which have died. I have never purchased an animal from him that has lived. the man has to be brought down. You no longer sells animals to people. He has vendors that sell the animals for him at his mark up price. It just appears that he is out of the game but really he is trying to eliminate all vendors that are pushing his stock. He is currently threatening a lawsuit against my friend or simply telling the truth about him.in fact if you were to read this postI would be threatened is well

He was a dirt bag 8 years ago and it looks like he still is one. Still owes a friend of mine a couple thousand $$$$ for acrylic displays that were paid for but never shipped...........from about 4 years ago!!!!

I hate hearing about Ron; he's such a dirtbag. A few years ago, I bought a Spilotes pullatus from him at Hamburg. He admitted it was imported, and I asked what kind of guarantee was on it. He told me he'd give me a 2-week health guarantee. I paid via Paypal...the snake defecated copious amounts of green, sickly, sandy material in the bag on the way home, drank like it hadn't seen water in months as soon as I offered it some, and died within 24 hours. I contacted Ron, and it took over a month to get refunded. He also came on the BOI when I posted about my experience in one of his existing threads, and lied about the snake...saying I knew it was sick when I bought it. He'll say anything to try to weasel out of his responsibilities. I'm so sorry you got taken too.

I opened a Paypal dispute, and then he refunded. It was a drawn-out, messy thing though. First he told me he'd send me another Spilotes and said he couldn't refund my money but only replace the snake. I told him I'd take the snake, but if I had any problems with it, I'd still be going after my money. I waited weeks for that; then he said he sold it to someone else. I demanded my money back again, and it was approaching the end of my ability to dispute with Paypal, so I opened the dispute. He fought a bit with it, but ended up refunding. I felt so bad for that poor snake...I've never seen that much sand inside a snake. The cloaca was partially prolapsed, red an inflamed once it passed the sand. It was not visible at the show, as the snake had not tried to eliminate, and I gave it a pretty thorough exam. I've also never seen a snake drink like that one did...it stuck its whole head into the water and gulped it down.

Feeling Like I Dodged a Bullet

Wow I really feel like I dodged a bullet... I purchased a pair of Mexican Night Snakes from him quite some time ago. They always did quite well for me and the only reason I don't still have them is because I lost the majority of my collection in a tragic accident a few months ago. I wasn't aware of utilizing the BOI to do name checks back then. I knew this name sounded familiar! Ironically it was the paypal email address that I recognized. I am hoping you all find some resolutions, some how.

I feel so bad for that snake. That is a horrible way for any animal to go. I'm glad to hear you got it worked out, but sounds like most are not that lucky

Not surprised at all.

I have seen the quality of his animals in person at local reptile shows, and that speaks huge volumes (not in a good way).
