    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Best morph to breed with pied...

CRAP! I meant she...SHE, SHE, SHE!!!! I didn't even realize the OP is not a HE!! Sorry :eek:

As I said in my initial post - I am not a big fan of the pied morph, in and of itself. When I saw a combo that WANTED, it meant I had to either come up with serious cash to buy one...or make my own. Obviously, I decided on the latter; and that's where all the fun is anyway.
That doesn't mean I suddenly like pieds, because I don't. It meant that I had to find pieds that I find visually appealing, or I would be unhappy with them. There were specific traits that I was looking for, and I didn't want a pied that didn't have the look I was seeking. You know I meant absolutely NO insult, Deborah...and you know that I am extremely picky - errr <cough>...discerning - when it comes to choosing my animals (heck, that's part of what you like about me).

:rofl::rofl:

Dang...you ARE cranky, huh?? :D
As a general rule, yes - I have a reputation to live up to :thumbsup:
That had nothing to do with my response, though...I really didn't understand what you could have disagreed with in my post.

I was saying that I would have agreed with you stating that it's basically up to what the OP likes best, IF this was most any combo other than pied. I disagreed with this statement strictly about the pieds because some pied combos are 99% white with a small spot on their head (lesser, pewter, and others, but I'm not familiar enough to tell you which all come out looking the same). If the OP wants a solid white snake, he could do it a lot sooner/easier with a pair of mojos, or any other combo that makes a Blue, or Black, Eyed Lucy.

I DO agree that it's the OP's decision of what he likes best. Just think he might want to check out a few things about this gene before deciding which he wants (because of the fact that the appearance of the actual, visual morph combo may not be what he's expecting).
Ummmmmm, you do know that you just told me you disagreed and agreed with the same thing, right?

As far as the appearance of the various combos, that is still part of deciding what appeals to the individual. We can name and suggest every pied combo that's been made, and and some that we'd like to see made...but it will still boil down to which one flicks her switch.

To the OP --> Best of luck with your decision, it isn't one to take lightly...especially if its something you might be end up costing you a fair chunk of cash. Lots of people like pieds, too - there's nothing written that says you have to do a combination morph.

Oops, I forgot, Steve can't see straight right now. I'll have to go looking for a pic of his mojave pied, and plaster his name all over it.

These aren't my favorite pics, but they are the ones in Steve's current ads (so they were easy to find, lol).

Again, for the record - these are Steve Markevich's (Serpents Den) photos

Yes. Probably why I'm confusing you is that I DO agree that anyone wanting to figure out what they want to breed needs to figure out what THEY like.

I was disagreeing with this specific example--pied--because I have only recently found out how the pied is dominating some genes, especially when double dom or co-doms are involved. Had I known this earlier, some of my projects wouldn't be geared in the direction that they are. Some have already taken a slight turn, others wiped off the drawing board.

So basically, I was not disagreeing with your philosophy, as I take the same stand with everyone. I guess it was more an alert to the OP to look further into how this gene can dominate certain combos making several different powerhouses look alike.

...ok, you win Harald. :eek: After proofreading this, I misspoke when I said I disagree so allow me to rescind that statement. To the OP: Figure out what you like and go for it! :thumbsup:

:)rofl:I crack myself up too much to be cranky!!:rofl:)

Now let me go read up some more on pieds so I can UN-confuse myself!!

Well I agree with Matt on all things...except the fact that I'm a 'she' not a he. Giggle. I'm going to go either albino or xanthic depending on what I can find that is het with pied, I don't want to bother with a litter of hets.

I will save up for a year or so, I figure if I get good babies I can more than make up the cost, and if I don't get any babies then I'll have two nice snakes. This is a 'pet' project, no a true 'for profit' breeding thing

You mean someone followed that?? lol I'm usually not that bad, but I was trying to chime in between projects in my shop (letting paint and/or glue dry). Maybe it was the fumes?? :rofl:

In all seriousness, I love the albino pieds, but I'm actually going a little farther and I'm going a little further and mixing in at least one more recessive gene!

yep it was the fumes. :rofl:

any recessive het a different recessive will cost you a pretty penny. but i wish you luck in what ever you chose. and chose what you personally like the best. like you said, it was for a pet.

This is my pastel pied. I just got him and also wonder what to breed him with. I have never breed a bp before. It is a long way for me.
