There is some exciting things going down in that basement.

First picture is of a sunglow male to a jungle het albino female. These guys have been real busy for the last few weeks.

Second is a Coral albino jungle male to a big DH sunglow female

Third is a possibly gravid dh sunglow female to the previously shown sunglow male. (This was out of season and I was not expecting anything to come of it, I'm not sure at all if she is gravid but she is acting that way and should lay in the next month if she is)

Next is a Hypo Motley probable het albino female that I will be putting with a different male sunglow after a bit more feeding.

Hopefully some of these guys pan out for me this season!

Some good lookin' snakes there!! That coral albino jungle is just SICK!!! ;)

My only question is, how do a couple of those smaller males pick-up a couple of those BIG girl's tails???? Best of luck with some awesome pairings!!

Thanks Matt! I think I might have an ovulation down there so fingers crossed at this point. and you got me on how those little guys get those females, the smallest one is the coral albino jungle and he hasnt been doing much for me this year so maybe he needs another year of growing before hes up to the task. The two sunglows are actually pretty decent size and at least 07, the females are just that much bigger lol.

Possible ovulation

We'll see if the male keeps breeding and if she goes into shed but hopefully!

Awesome pictures!! I have never bred before but I am hoping to in about 2 or so years =) I want to steal your sunglows so if they go missing they are at my place

I also wanted to ask and correct me if I am wrong because I honestly have NO CLUE how much truth there is to this but I remember reading (can't for the life of me remember where) that people should not breed sunglows and albinos because they will end up producing horrible genetics. Once again I am not yelling at you I am just wondering since you have similar pairings going on maybe you can explaine to me if this is total bunk or maybe I got the two traits mixed up.....

I have no pairings of sunglow to albinos I have parings of sunglow to het albino, that is the only way to avoid the genetic issues you are talking about. some people even say sunglow to albino is ok because the hypo gene strengthens the blood but im not too sure. i do not breed any visual albino to albino or sunglow to albino because of the issue you are talking about. Although at this point in the game there is plenty of outcrossed albinos out there and If I were in a pinch and for some reason felt the need to I am not 100% opposed to breeding sunglow to albino or something like that, but i am 90% opposed... if that makes sense lol

And to speak to the validity of inbred albino x albino breedings producing defects, it is 100% true if the albinos are very inbred, i have seen whole litters eyeless and defective at trade shows.

"that is the only way to avoid the genetic issues you are talking about."

Correction, that is the only way to produce albinos or sunglows without producing possible het offspring and i do not like producing possible hets if it can be avoided.

Oh I see, sorry I should have read the initial post more closely. Thank you for taking the time to shed more light on the subject for me. You really do learn something new everyday =).
So (just to make sure I understand) if I had say...
Albino Moltey X Albino Moltey= 'no problems'
BUT
Albino Moltey X Sunglow Moltey = 'potential problems'

well now theres a whole new can of worms lol, motley x motley breedings are not recommended because the super form has problems and in almost all cases dies in a year or two. Also you said albino motley x albino motley, those are both visual albinos, you will potentially have problems there. you want albino (visual albino) x het albino (looks normal but caries the albino gene) in order to avoid defects. having two visual albinos that you can see are albino bred together is where you run in to problems.

:eek:That is so interesting!! I am sorry I have kind of gone wild on your post but I never knew this before... so if a snake is advertised as an Albino Moltey I am assuming that snake was probably produced from an Albino Moltey X moltey het albino pairing of some kind??

Motley is a co-dom trait, meaning that motley x normal= 1/2 litter of motleys and 1/2 litter of normals (on paper, but reality will vary). So a albino motley could have been produced by an albino x motley het albino or MANY other combinations. The only way to know for sure what the exact parents were, is to ask the breeder. In other words, it could've been from a bigger combo like motley jungle het snow x arabesque albino which would produce an extremely diverse litter......but now my early morning, pre-coffee ramblings are probably just adding to your confusion. :D

Lookin good

So my jungle het albino female appears to have ovulated, the male has had no interest since I last posted and she is going dark hopefully into a shed. Shes also developed an instant attitude lol.. First pic is an updated pic of her

And on another news front. I removed the sunglow male that was with the jungle het, Soaked him, tried feeding and he didnt want much to do with it. So I thought to myself what the hay, he knows better than I what he wants to do. So I put him in with my hypo motley prob. het albino and WHOOOOOOOOOO he went right on her lol.
