In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I fed my new 3 foot purple retic two fuzzy mice and an inch of his intestine is now hanging out. Rodney told me he prolapsed 2 months ago because he overfed him, however if that much time had passed his intestine wouldn't have popped out from a ridiculously small meal.

I am now taking this little guy to a vet 45m away during my workday where I am going to pay $80 + whatever procedures and medication will be necessary.

My snake also came with mites that Rodney apparently already knew were spreading around his collection, but failed to tell me until confronted about it.

He knew this snake had problems and lied on both accounts. The only thing I'm happy about is being able to give a good healthy life to this snake that was being raised so poorly.

OMG that poor retic. i never seen anything like that. I seen his snakes in person and there always top notch. Rodney is a good guy to deal with and im sure you will get this taken care of.

tigger have you dealth with rodney before? do you own a snake from him? you breed retics?

Slyther83, you dont treat a new everytime you bring one home?

i treat every new snake to my collection. i dont care who its from

i own a purple from rodney, and no problems here. i have talked to him on the phone, and in person. Great guy to deal with, and very goin.

Great you had a good transaction with him but what about this guy? Selling snakes. Before they eat a few times is kinda crazy to me but selling one with a blown out rear end just takes the cake...this guy should be refunded his money

Yes, I do breed retics. And let me tell you, I would NEVER send out a snake that has not even had it's first meal to ANYONE. I have dealt with Rodney only one time, and he sent me an albino tiger with severe RI. The snake was "coughing" up mucus with blood in it. And when confronted about it, he made it seem as if he was doing me a favor by helping. He was told that it is a felony in the state of PA to perform and or practice veterinary medicine without a license, then he got mad because the snake was taken to a vet and not shipped back to him so that HE could inject the snake with meds :shrug01:

But this thread is not about my horrible dealing with Rodeny, it about the OP's. It is very evident that Rodney lack proper quarintine as his collection was infested with mites from 2 other snakes that should have been nowhere near his collection. He then sells the OP a snake that has had a history of prolapse........

Hmm I have been watching closely waiting for his purples to hatch out was going to purchase a female from him but Mites and a prolapse is usually something you would share with the buyer before sold. Ive had a burm prolapse on me once and it was not cheap to fix

Robert, according to the screen-shot of your FB conversation, he said that if there was a problem, he would replace the snake. Did he decide not to back-up that statement??

you and rodney talked about the issue on facebook. Almost seems like you came to an agreement. You tell him no problem. You appreciate his feedback. He even says to you that he will replace him if you have anymore problems. Then you turn around and slam him on the BOI?

Am I missing something here? Im not defending anybody. Im trying to figure out why this thread is needed when you obviously were not mad with the outcome of your conversation. He is willing to replace it. Mites happen, again not making exuses. As a responsible snake keeper you always always always Quarantine every animal as to not effect your animals you have now. If the rest of your collection has mites IMO that is your own fault regardless if you knew or not. That is just basic husbandry..

But if the seller knows they have some snakes with mites its common courtesy to let your customers know theres a chance of mites on there new purchase. I do agree that every snake coming into a collection needs to be quarantined and checked but If the seller knew he had a mite problem and didnt say anything thats just bad customer service. Why not fix the mite problem before shipping out the snake? That would be better customer service. He also knew the snake had prolapsed in the past and never said anything.

that is a pretty serious prolapse man. that will need surgical correction. too bad you dont live near me, my clinic could correct that for ya.

good luck with all that

This dude bought the purple and was never told about any of the problems! Mites are not something that come just free with purchase guys.. why is it now days if someone sells a sick or screwed up snake they can just replace it and everything is better, then damn thing should never of been sold

He told me about the prolapse up front. However, he made it seem as if this was a while ago, which was clearly not the case as a very small defecation pushed out intestine. Whether this is from overfeeding or parasites this snake shouldnt have been fed for a few weeks to heal up. He didnt tell me that.

I'm not taking sides or anything but from what i have now read you knew about a prolaps that happened 2 months ago and say the snake shouldnt have been fed for a few weeks there is 8 in 2 months. and he stated that 2 weeks prior he brought in 2 snakes he didnt realized had mights so there is a chance he might not have known about it right? im not taking sides i have never had or dealt with a prolapse and might have missed some information reading but it sounds like he was pretty straight forward with you. again i might have missed part of the conversation but thats just how i read it

Youre not understanding. If the prolapse happened that long ago it wouldnt have popped out again like this. He probably tucked it back in again the same week I bought him. One month is more than enough time to heal up and he claimed it was two.

also keep in mind, once a prolapse happens, the animal is more prone to it for its life (even if surgical intervention is performed)
