    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Tub size for adults?

I'm curious whether you feel 12 quart or 30 quart iris tubs are best for adult balls. None of my guys are huge, but curious to hear opinions!

Some of my adult females wouldn't be able to move if they had a soak bowl in a 30 quart tub with them. Once mine hit 2000 grams they are going to be moved to at least a CB70 and probably a 3 foot cage.

I think the shallowness of the tubs becomes an issue as well when the combined girth of my snake and its water bowl exceed the depth of the tub.

I'll go on the record as saying anyone who keeps a full size adult ball in a 12 quart tub for permanent housing should not be allowed to keep animals.
 
Here are a couple of perspective pictures:

Picture number 1 is my 2300 gram girl sitting in a 15 quart tub (sorry I don't have any 12)

Picture number 2 is her sitting in a 32 quart tub with her waterbowl that she really doesn't fit in.

Picture number 3 is one of my younger males who weighs 1058 grams sitting in a 15 quart tub.

Wow an adult in a 12qt? Not on my watch! I have 400 gram Bps in 41qt sterilites, I think they should have room to move around . Plus they kept tipping over the dam water bowls in the 12qts. But ive been honestly thinking about down sizing 400gs to 32qts so I can have room for some adult girls ill be getting in a week or two. Idk if I should tho cuz wouldnt moving them to another tub stress them out and possibly cause them not to eat?
 
Robert, moving them to a different tub shouldnt stress them out as long as you clean it very well so that it doesnt smell like the previous snake housed there. Heres what I do...

Up to 400g - 6qt
400-800g - 16qt (sometimes i have to move them to a bigger tub sooner)
800-1200g (depending on the snake etc I will keep them in this size tub up to 1500g) - 32qt
1200-2000g (again depending on the snake I will keep them in there longer if needed) 41qt
2000g+ - 72qt I find my big girls, especially my normals enjoy the extra room. i dont like seeing my snakes cramped so if they look cramped I will upgrade to a bigger tub.

This is fabulous, thanks! I was having a hard time comparing and finding good measurements. I'm not super good at math/visualizing these things!

I would put adult males in 32 quart tubs and adult females in 41 quart tubs. Works for me and they have plenty of room to move from the hot spot to the cooler end of the tub. Use 15 quarts for juvies.

No problem! I really don't like to keep anything bigger than a 3000g snake in a 41qt, you figure in the size of their water bowl to soak and they get a bit cramped, that's why I started upgrading them to a 72 qt. Enough room for a big water bowl and space to slither around. Of course during breeding season you always wanna switch to a smaller water bowl. I do. Just so they don't lay eggs in their water bowl. Its just a precaution.

I also find that when they have some room to roam they eat better. Mainly cause the rat doesn't climb all over them when they're in a big enough tub, lol.
 
I know people use the 32 qt Sterilite tubs for adult males and smaller subadult/adult females. Most perfer the Iris cb-70 style tub which I believe is 41 qt. I would not go any smaller than 32 qt, thats for sure.
