In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Bad Guy JAMES MAXWELL? OMEGASERPENTS- FRAUD- TOOK $2800

Thanks John for bringing the ad back up... There is no doubt that those were photoshopped pictures. Love the background.. LOL

I can't wait to hear his side of this story.

I don't think they are photoshopped. It looks like the snake is in some kind of black plastic tray, like one that comes with a scale. You can see the snakes reflection in the plastic. If that's photoshopped it's one hell of a job.

Might be a stolen pic.

The picture was a big time photoshop job. On the original ad the photo is quite clear and actually what I would consider a poor job where he missed a complete section, and the entire edge of the snake was terrible. It's a shame this happened, and buyers just need to be very careful these days. Reputation is vital, and some people don't take the right steps and ask the right questions when buying a snake. It's your right to ask questions, and as a seller/breeder, it is your responsibility to answer those questions. Scammers now a days understand how to sell snakes, even to the point of refusing a low ball offer, even though they are the ones running the scam. That asking price was an immediate alarm to me. A new born emperor pinstripe will be 3500-4k. This guy is advertising a breeder size female for 3k? That '08/09 female would run close to 5-6k or more!

Did he email the pics from the original ad? I went back and looked, and there are no images attached to either version.

I don't know about photoshop, never used it, but the pin pricks seem off to me. If i were buying balls that would throw me off and i would ask for more pics just to be safe. there is a reflection but the pin pricks are rather off. why would they be there?

They are off the snake and not reflected.

Anyways, it seems with the change of e-mail the seller is not willing to fix thing, besides he has not appeared here to try and fix thing or there is no posts from the OP stating the seller is going to fix things.

It is wrong either way,. It seems the seller doesn't care who he sells to since he keeps their money. I might be early to say but so far the person doesn't care so far. I know it takes time to come here and defend them selves but that hasn't happened yet.

Sorry for your loss and i recommend that you do all that you can with paypal. I don't think it will amount to anything here.

I don't think it's photoshopped. Here it is enlarged. You can see the snake is in a plastic tub. The snake's head is hanging slightly over the lip of the tub, you can see the reflection of the bottom curved corner of the tub.

I think Sagespyder is 100% correct. This appears to have been a total scam from the beginning. When someone wants you to send money to different accounts like he did, it's usually not a good sign. This guy posted the animal without any intention of ever sending it, if he even has the Emperor (highly doubtful).
I would highly doubt you will ever get a cent back from PayPal either since I'm sure he withdrew all the funds you sent him. I've seen this happen a lot in my investigations from my profession. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it. Your only option may be to contact your local FBI office if this turns out to be a case of fraud. The can investigate it since it would be a case of interstate internet fraud. Now if they will is a different story. Here is Missouri they would probably say the monetary value is not enough to warrant their time. You could also contact your Attorney Generals Office and file a report with them. IF you know fore sure where this criminal lives and received the money, you can file a local report with them and they should be able to prosecute but you will have to go there in person to do this. Good luck.

First off let me say that I am not judging or anything of the sort. I am stating my opinion here. I have read through the other not so good thread on Victor, and am just going to state that even though karma, (different than the karma on this site) may have caught up to Victor, and people may see that as something to post on this thread, it's not necessarily the best idea. Keep that stuff to yourself. I do however agree that even though Victor has a questionable reputation he still is trying to protect other people here. Whether it's an act only to get people to feel sorry for him and forget the other thread, or it's simply just him trying to warn others, isn't for us to decide...What happened with him and someone else is between them. Life will work itself out, and people will get what they deserve. I believe in that. Just because this happened to someone that has a questionable reputation doesnt mean you can throw it in their face..
What does that make you look like?

Actually, I got it exactly right. You tell me what "ummm" means. And what does his reputation (50/50?) have to do with him getting scammed?

:shrug01: Maybe I'm just being slow here, when I first read it I did think he was just commenting on how people with borderline or shady reputations don't often get a lot of sympathy when they post about someone else being sketchy.

OP, hope you get your money back. It is always a good thing to know when someone advertising here is a scammer.

OK HERE IT IS AGAIN...

"Well that is umm, unfortunate that someone who steal $2800 from you. Especially considering how good of a reputation you have on Fauna."

If you do not see the sarcasm in that statment, I don't know what you are looking at. Bread it down. "umm, unfortunate" ok, explain that Jessica.
Now for the reputation part. The op has a terrible reputation here so far. So why call it good unless it was meant to be sarcastic.:shrug01:

That pic is not photoshopped. I agree 100% with Laura.

It could be a stolen pic, but that's a snake in a black tub that has a bit of reflectiveness to it.

I originally read the "umm, unfortunate" as meaning- and I know this is a stretch- unfortunate. I see people use an "umm, (descriptive word)" in online writing pretty often to emphasize a word or show that they're having trouble finding the right one.

He also didn't call his reputation good, he said "how good of a reputation you have here". If someone asks you how good of a look you got at something, do you think they are saying you got a good look? I can understand how the first part could go either way, but it seems a bit like you're trying to misunderstand the second part.

Like I said, I've seen people with questionable reps get ridden hard when they tried to start bad guy threads, especially when they come hot on the heels of a bad guy thread against them. I read that statement as conveying similar feelings. Whether that had more to do with what the writer insists he meant, or just because that was what was already in my head, I can't say.

Victor, have you managed to get anywhere with paypal, or was the account cleaned out already?

I'm really not sure where you are going with this. I guess that we are going to have to disagree. It seems plain. You can take anything out of context and make it what you want. I really do not care. HHMoore agreed that it was sarcastic and so have a couple of people who left me good karma for that post. So go where ever you need to if it makes you feel better.:shrug01:

ok: so i wanted to work on something before i put this on here:
i was contacted by someone who knew james- which is actually his name- they told me that james had come to their town for a short time for some work and while he was their was using local computers and pre-paid phones to scam me and a few others.... so i got enough information out of this person to find james, (which is a druggy and a traveler)... but a very close friend of mine actually does work for the FBI, so we have new good information on his where abouts and should get to him soon. As i said above paypal gave me a 10 day wait and hopefully i get my money back tomorrow. Either way i will still persue him, to try and make sure he doesnt do it again, or atleast let him no that hes been caught....

Go where ever I need to if it makes me feel better? You said "explain that, Jessica" and so I did. That is the only place I was 'going with this'.

Victor, I'll check tomorrow for the update, good luck. Has Maxwell not responded at all? In my experience, if he doesn't, you'll win pretty much automatically. The only question now is if the money is still there to be reversed. It seems like a long shot, but you never know.
