    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

never had a big snake before so i wanted to get a boa just to keep like a pet. i wont feed it any extra to get it bigger, i just dont want a little bitty snake. y think 4.9 ft by 1.8 ft would be a big enough enclosure for one?? (going to build it myself) i have heard that melamine would be the best stuff but what should i line the bottom with so the crap/piss wont get everywhere all under the bedding and stuff. and would i have to seal the little cracks where the wood would meet together? Any other boa care comments would be nice
 
Your measurements should work (for a sub-adult to adult sized boa). Personally, I prefer 4'X2X12" (l X w X h). The ones that I used to build were melamine and I sealed the seams very well with clear caulk, but there's no need to line the bottom. The point of using melamine is that it repels the messes (it's basically cheap counter-top material).

If you get a young boa (baby) you may have to consider a smaller enclosure so that you don't stress it out with too much open area. (You can accomplish this with a big enclosure with lots of "stuff" inside, but that leads to more "stuff" to keep clean.)

Okay ill keep the clear caulk in mind for the sealing on the edges. And for the baby thing... would blocking off [half?] of the tank with some melamine or whatever solid material and then just slide the blockade down until the snake has the whole tank when he/she is big enough work??

As long as you supply the correct temps (hot AND cool sides), that will be fine. Are you planning to get a baby? Or are you just starting to look for what you want?
 
I build snake cages quite often. A 5ft (long) x 2ft (deep) x 1ft (tall) will work for its entire life (most boas). You could even make it 6x2x1. And yes, I place a barrier in the middle that is removeable and it works great for housing smaller boas in, then when they reach 3ft, I remove the barrier. Seal the cracks very well. Keep in mind that the problem with having a cage as large as you mentioned will make it very difficult to maintain temp and humditiy.
