Anyone in ohio think twice before buying from this guy. Heres a thread iv posted previously on another forums about him.


Alright so there's this guy goes by "Randy" selling quite a few "hets"

Well anyways we was supposed to meet up locally because he was buying a ball off me. Anyways well he didnt show. So i got susupcious as he said he was there but then avoided all calls/text and proceed to insult me when he answered the phone later that night. Anyways after looking him up i found some kingsnake stuff of his.

i got a male spider, an i want to pair him with a albino female..
so heres what i want to know...what would aget...would i get an albino spider or just a het albino???? thanks for taking time to read this..
ALSO IM LOOKING FOR A GOOD OHIO BREEDER TO GET MY BALLS FROM THAT HAVE GOOD DEALS..ANY HELP WITH THIS ONE.."

He doesnt even know what a co-dom to a recessive would yield.

And last but not least he doesnt know that pastel x spider yields bee's quite sad as he claims to have a facility that he uses for breeding...

He claims he vends at the local Columbus, Ohio show. Not to sure about that but he sells quite a few hets via craigslist.

I would seriously think twice before buying his "hets" as he doesn't know basic genetics for a spider x albino yet hes selling 100% het albino?
 
WOW......because you got stood-up you make a thread with a warning in the title. You have NO proof where or who the hets he has for sale came from......maybe he bought them in a deal from a breeder in order to get some quality breeders and does not need the extra hets. Besides, not everyone is an automatic genius at genetics and some people do ask questions from their peers instead of researching articles. I think most people who are looking for a "het" are gonna ask questions like, "how do you know it is a het? or did you produce these yourself? or do you have documentation from the original breeder?" Bottom line is that you have now cast doubt on someone's integrity based only on a meeting that did not end up taking place.

Really? No because after talking to him on the phone and him saying he has a "breeding facility" but yet does not know the difference between urate/poop?

What breeder has a breeding facility and does not know pastel x spider makes a bee?

Justify it all you want. He has a breeding facility but thinks the white stuff is poop? Be for real =)
 
And keep in mind i said "potential scammer" and said think twice before buying his hets.

Maybe if he shows proof where he bought these "hets" from i would go with what u say. But i dont think so =)
 
And here I thought I lived in America where you are innocent until proven guilty. A true "informative" thread would be titled, "Any info on Randall Gilkerson jr....anyone ever deal with him before?" By you putting "Beware and Scammer" in the title you have cast a negative light on Randy with NO PROOF that he is knowingly trying to misrepresent an animal. Do you like being accused of wrong doing based on ZERO evidence or circustantial evidence? Again, the only reason for this retalitory bad guy thread is your hurt feelings over the loss of a sale.

The guy is just very new. He contacted me over a month ago about buying some animals. They were in fact hets and 66% hets albinos. He was also very determined to find a spider and wanted to produce an albino spider. I explained genetics 101 to him and put him into contact with another local breeder friend of mine to geggt his spider. He got the spider from the breeder, but never did come and get the het/poss het group from me. Depending on where he got his hets, I'd be careful, not as a scammer, but as a very inexperienced keeper.

If the hets came from the same breeder as the spider, then they would be good, as the breeder is a class act. Use caution and common sense, but this guy is VERY GREEN with genetics.

I agree with everything he said.I dont think he needs his name soiled when he did nothing wrong.He just asked a few questions.Everyone starts out somewhere.Dont you remember when you first started?

As far as the hets go,I would be very cautious.Heck,I would'nt even buy a het anymore,but as long as you use common sense then you should be able to stay clear of bad "hets".
 
Yes sir, hets are bought by me on a "KNOWN" bases meaning I really KNOW the breeder. Heck, I think the massive breeders can and do make errors with the hets do purely to the volume of animals produced.

Oh, on the Columbus show, sorry but I think he only attends and has NOT had a table, at least not in the last few months.

Many times when a new herper is in error they are crucified by the "experts", when what is needed is a lil hand holding to get them in the right direction. If everyone THINKS they learned this on their own, they are mistaken.

I remember when I first came into the hobby/passion.(two years ago)That was one of the traits that drew me to the reptile hobby besisdes my love of reptiles.Everyone was more than happy to answer some questions and help out a "newbie".There is always a rotten apple in the bunch but the reptile community in whole has always seemed like great hobby.I have always inturn try to help out any newcomer with open arms.I think everyone should try it.After all we are in a losing battle with the non-keepers just to keep our rights.I would like all the help we can get.
 
Sound to me like Randy isn't the only inexperienced one here.
Have you dealt with so few new keepers /breeders that you instantly become untrusting because of unproven hets????

Is completely horrible and shows your lack of experience in dealing with anyone new. Should we fault you for that and put a thread out on you????

EVERY "expert" or long time (multiple years) keeper started somewhere and some with even less knowledge then what Randy has displayed. You created a "bad guy" type thread over nothing and have now potentially ruined not just Randy's chances but your own at having sales and even buying. Way to go.

As already stated instead of creating this thread maybe you should have asked his experience.

Also as a new breeder I too had a "breeding facility" and I called it that simply because I used an extra building not attached to my home as a place that I bred my animals so that's what I called it. You should not allow your ego to be so big that you ASSume you know how someone means something. :D

Next time help to educate someone otherwise YOU shouldn't be in this hobby.

Also ........................ next time you encounter someone with hets ask for proof and /or a genetics guarantee. Ask where they bought the animals from. If none of this information is provided then use your best judgement and either take the risk and buy it or pass on the deal. Plain and simple. Otherwise buy it as a normal and hope you get lucky. That's it. No need for this thread that is going to tarnish Randy's future reputation AND yours.
 
I haven't thought about the above mentioned statement. People will see this thread and see the immaturity and will more than likly turn down your offer.People check the buyer just as much as the seller.If they see that there is a history of the buyer chasing problems for the seller then they wont sell. That is the way I do it atleast. I would say that quite a few people do the very same. I would rather not sell then sell to someone that would hurt my reputation. I take pride in trying to build my rep.

so i go to meet him,so when i pull up hes with 3 of his buddies ALL looking like GANG BANGERS...so i just left the parking lot..so what would you have done...
An yes im new, i bought 17 snakes off a breeder that was getting out of snake, so the ones that i didnt want i sold.....ALL THE HETS HAD PAPERS WITH THEM FROM THE OTHER BREEDER............................SO HOW IN THE HELL AM I THE BAD GUY HERE? PLEASE TELL ME...
