In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I would like to start off saying that George Chestnut is not a bad guy.I would just like some info on this guy.

I was contacted by text April 17th, 2011.The text said

Hello My name is George Chestnut I'm the curator of the Seaport Aquarium in Wildwood , NJ I can't offer much as the season has not kicked in to high gear yet. However I can offer your pets a great home in an 4' x 8' x 5.5' enclosure & plenty of handling. Please contact me by phone at 609-780-0254 PS

At first I had red flags raised and bells ringing in my head. However I was very interested in what all this was about.

I done what the text said and contacted him. However I did not contact him at the number that he told me to call I called the number that the text came through.

The phone rang several times and guess what? I got the answering machine for an electrical company.I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. So I called the other number.

Once again I got the same voice mail for the same electrical company.A couple of minutes passed and he called back on the second number listed.

I was skeptical at this point, and became even more when I heard what variety of animals he was wanting and that he couldn't offer much.He was asking for purple reitcs, albino bat-eaters,albino sunfires, albino suntigers, and albino golden childs. He stressed the last one very much.

I then told him that if I could see the exhibit and was to look around the aquarium then I would donate a super tiger free of charge, as long as my name would be on display also that she did come from me.

He then preceded to tell me that a super tiger would not draw the crowds like an albino golden child would or and albino sunfire.

I understand that he wanted something big to amaze and wow the kids, but I remember when I was little that I didnt care if it were a normal retic or and albino golden child. If it was a big snake it was pretty freaking awesome.

he has even made an account here and has been replying to adds.I dont think he is a bad guy.I just think we should no more about the guy before we offer our animals for little to know charge.

I know some of you are super detectives at this and go all out to find some answers.I would just like a little help, because like I said I researched and couldnt find any info on him.

Have you tried calling the Seaport Aquarium directly and asking for this person?
Their ph# is (609) 522-2700

i am actually shipping a snake to him today..i have talk to him several times on the phone.seems like a nice guy

Well, according to at least twenty people on the internet, your animals are going to deplorable conditions and will likely be mistreated.

This place has horrible reviews out the :censored:.

I have tried calling that number for most of the day and it is never answered.

I also cannot find George Chestnut's name related to any searches regarding this place.

But a search for Seaport Aquariums on its own yeilds some disturbing results and complaints from people who have visited.

You may want to re-think the fate of the animal after seeing these reviews:

  1. InsiderPages.com: "holy balls this place sucked." Aquarium W. - Aug 26 2008 (rated 1/5). "Agreeing with GuestyM before me their reptiles are sick their fish are either shoved in tanks that... http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3718009705
  2. InsiderPages.com: "This "Aquarium" needs to be shut down!" Lori D. - Sep 09 2009 (rated 1/5). "There aren't enough words to describe the travesty that is this 'aquarium'. As many times as I've been... http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3718009705
  3. InsiderPages.com: "This place is a dump" Guesty M. - Aug 12 2008 (rated 1/5). "Gross place don't go. They take pictures outside with Columbian Boa Constictors 2 out of the 3 there... http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3718009705

Is the address where the animal is to be shipped 3400 Boardwalk, Wildwood, NJ 08260?

Google the place and check out the reviews. Just saying it sure doesn't sound like anywhere I'd want my name on.

This place is located on a boardwalk. It's a tourist trap and nothing more. The animals are evidently kept in crappy aquariums and they live feed in front of visitors, most of which are a bit upset about it, which I can understand.

My opinion is the guy is likely full of it and just trying to get some nice animals for free under the guise of a nice "non profit".

And another thumbs up review:

Upon approaching the tank with the cute rabbit in it i saw a snake in there which was going to feed on the rabbit. I had 3 young children with me.. I have been to zoos and aquariums all over the usa and aquariums .. I have never saw this in any of them.. the 3 young children were terrorized by this .. When the staff was appraoached about the conditions there they did not care and said its natural that this aquarium is this way.. I know the state board of health has not been at this place ever.. It has never been cleaned and the condition overall is deplorable . I am contacting the spca and newspapers .. this place has to be shut down for good...All glass enclosures were very dirty - There wasnt anyfood there .. what do they starve there animals? There wasnt enough water for the sharks and stingrays .. The fish and turtle tank smelled really bad .. When asked when they were fed last time answer last month.. I cant believe the mayor of wildwood lets this happen .. Who is there to defend these creatures no one??????? I hope the local oficials do there jobs and close it down .. Look at all the bad reviews .. whats with the chickens in withe the alligators???really

9/29/2010 While I agree with the previous review of Melissa's about how sadly the upkeep of this place is but what STUNNED ME and was the beautiful and quite innocent black rabbit they put in one of the snake tanks for the snake to eat when ready. While I realize this is the cycle of life, I also have read that snake will eat already dead animals (although the kill process is unknown to me) but either way, if the very thought of this made me nauseous, I cannot imagine the affect it will have on a child who just happens to be in front of this tank when the snake decides to kill this poor thing by crushing it and swallowing it whole while

Second review citing rabbits being left in the enclosure for when the snake was ready. Yep ... bunch of winners over there.

I've never seen a reputable zoo or aquarium that needed to go online, to a classified site, to solicit free animals.

Seems he is a member here (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/member.php?u=71808) and this post is about the only one that isn't inquiring about wanting larger snakes:

I have a 15' female green anaconda that I would like a skeletal mount of. I will be skinning it mid May. I can't afford much but I do come across the occasional rescue thats sitting on deaths door and regrettably if the treatment cost more then the reptile we are forced to humanly aid in there passing but its better going to educate then to decompose.

Thank you for all your input especially you dand. I will let him know of this post here and have decided not to even sell an animal to him much less donate to him.

I have found out through some research that this place inst even close to an aquarium.

This is just a petstore the size of my living room.He claims it to be an aquarium so he can charge people that come in just so they can get disgusted and walk right out while trying to hold there gag reflex.

I am sorry brian but it looks like your retic will be living in a 100 gallon aqarium his whole life. Also he told me that he was going to use your male clark strain albino to make some bat-eaters.

:rolleyes:That is interesting you have two 5,500 gallon tanks in your living room wish I had it like that. The Rabbit may have been in the enclosure for two hours tops. Sometimes we get swamped with the customers that we don't manage to offend or traumatize. You have to realize that the common customer dose not work in the industry. We get every thing form the angry parents of the little tank knockers that were asked to leave to the late night drunks wading through the koi pound & stuffing red eared sliders under his shirt. We are not looking for a handout just a fair deal. So if your inclined to believe the rantings of the small minds thats your right to do so. If your a reasonable person and want the truth pleas stop by and check us out for yourself. Yes we did have a beauty of a large WC female green anaconda that passed this winter when we lost power for a few days. Yes it is regrettable she is no longer with us but you have to admit a skeletal mount of an old world boa of that size would be impressive. Hope that covers everything posted because I'm done defending my place of employment. Want the truth pleas stop by and check us out for yourself. Thanks!

One or two complaints? Okay. Over twenty from different people about the same crap over the span of a year? Give me a break.

Why not show us some photos of your facility then, hmn?

Sure!

IF the vet bill exeeds the price of the animal then we humainly euthanise it.More like we throw it in the freezer then use the skeleton as a display or sale them as a souvenir.

I love the little text you sent me.lol what a joke. Please send more.I needed a good laugh today.

I wouldn't let you hold my animals much less advertise my animal at your "petstore", I mean your aquarium.:D

I have read twenty or more bad comments about your petstore.

I am sorry but I cant go visit your store.Could you please post some pictures?

If you are not looking for a handout then why even use the "I can't offer much" statement? It certainly looks like you are looking for a handout. I doubt you'd knock some money off the admission to your facility to someone who said "I can't offer much as the season has not kicked in to high gear yet." now would you? If you can't afford to purchase an animal for what someone is asking for it then how would someone expect that you would be able to afford to house and feed the animal properly? "Sometimes we get swamped with the customers" must be far and few between then.

In short it appears that you are looking to obtain animals for cheap or for free in order to display them in what sounds like to be in sub par conditions.

:yesnod:I will happily post some pics when we open this season & offer free admission to any poster on this BOI that would like see for themselves just have ID and I will personally check all posts leading up to this one and if the name matches the posters your in free. Sorry I had to limit the offer but we do have an aquarium to run and specimens to care for and we cant be giving handouts all summer:D
