In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

maternal incubation [again]

If I could set up a webcam in her enclosure and just watch from here I would. lol I'm sure she'd appreciate a little more privacy. She gives me a look as if to say, "Again? Seriously?" each time I open her tub. :p

Well, I went against my own advice and cut one of the eggs because worry had been nagging at me. It's the little one that had spent some time at the top of the pile as a chin rest for mom. It had wrinkled much earlier than the others and though it reflated a bit after I moved it, it has just stayed smaller than the rest and I wasn't sure if the baby inside was going to have much room in there as a result. All of the eggs have been sweating like crazy this week and I was getting water spots on the little egg and one other. I just didn't want to wait any longer on the little one so I snipped it yesterday. Inside I saw a perfectly healthy looking, albeit small, baby and it was definitely alive so I placed the egg back on the pile and left it alone. I didn't get any pics then but got a couple this morning.

The other seven eggs have still not pipped yet and I'll not cut them unless something seems amiss. Today makes Day 61.

The earliest I've had them hatch was 53 days and the longest was 67. I'm hoping these won't keep me waiting much longer.

I needed to add some water to the egg because it was looking a bit dry in there. I had my camera handy so I got some pics of the little one. I'm really not experienced with egg cutting. I'm more accustomed to just seeing heads peaking out of slits they make themselves so I don't typically see what else is in there. Could those of you who are more experienced in cutting please chime in here and let me know if the yolk sac looks normal? Should I even be seeing that?

Someone with more experience please chime in, but from what I've been studying, if you cut, they will remain in the egg until the yolk is absorbed. Then they will come out after that. I agree with one of the above statements, that picture w/baby and mama should definitely go on your snake room wall :) Friggin' adorable!

I meant to post here this morning after dropping my daughter off for school but forgot to.

I checked on him/her this morning and the yolk sac seems a little smaller and paler. The baby's belly is definitely filling out as well. Yesterday it looked quite thin and wrinkly in places. I guess because this egg was deflated so much, it caused some repositioning in the egg and the yolk was plainly visible where in a normal egg the yolk would be on the bottom and covered by the baby's body. Still, the cord does appear to be wrapped around the yolk so I did remove the baby and put it inside the deli cup that I had warming in the enclosure next to mom.

I will give the baby a little more time in the deli cup before I try to tie it off and cut it from the sac. I think it is still absorbing its yolk but it's just doing it very slowly because of the way the cord has wrapped itself. I'm also hesitant to try to untangle it because of its location. I'm afraid if I tried to loosen the cord at all, I would risk rupturing it.

I'll check on it again sometime this afternoon to see how s/he is doing.

WOW!!!

Love all the pics ur taking!!

And it does seem a little tangled but i would give it more time to see if it deflates a little more..

I didn't mean to post the umbilical issues in here. I had posted another thread for that. lol I think I hadn't quite woke up when I posted here earlier.

I just checked on the little one and its yolk sac still seems rather big. I did see a twist in the cord and turned the sac so that the cord isn't so restricted. Hopefully that will help things move along. The baby is very active and I think it will be fine (knock on wood). This is just a situation I've never dealt with before.

When I was returning the baby to the enclosure in its deli cup, I happened to notice two of its sibling eggs are pipping. :) I'll go back later to see if there are any new heads peeking out.

Pics in a minute.
