In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My name is Josh Burke with BurkeBrosExotics a couple weeks ago I was contacted by Ed Clark in response to my ad I posted. He said he was interested in purchasing a few dragons. He said he was looking to get some to breed due to him selling off his last year. I gave home almost a 50% discount 950$ for 5 dragons that I had listed for a total of 1600$. He said he may sell one to recoup some of his losses which is understandable. Within a week he had posted 4 of the 5 I sold him... And selling some at double to triple of my original asking price not what I sold them to him for. I am getting out of breeding dragons but I did not have to sell them I just figured they were going into a breeding program so they would be better off than with Joe Shmo, I gave him a extreme discount under the impresion he was a reputable breeder and would keep and breed them. Since he has more rep on here I'm sure I will get banned or slandered for this but I feel that people should know the truth! I have sent him an email regarding this.

I sold him
.1 red pastel leather het trans (I listed for 300) he posted for 600$ I sold to him for 190$
.2 Cawley x hypotang ( I listed for 250 and 300) he posted for 480$ea I sold to him for 190$ ea.
.1 Livingston red ( I listed for 250$) he posted for 280$ the least markup I sold for 190$
.1 orange leather double het (I listed for 350) he has not posted it yet. I sold for 190$

All of my list prices were a deal to begin with! I am extremely upset with this transaction. I just sent an email to him, I was not waiting for a response back I was posting this thread no matter the explanation.

Actually, if you do some searching around her,e you'll find that Mr. Clark is a known scumbag.

Its sucks he did that, but the reality is that once he buys an animal, its his to do with what he pleases.

Nothing new, and Not surprised hes doing it. I doubt he even produced anything hes sold.

He likes to buy cheap by talking the talk, then flip them for profit as his own.

Really nothing you can do as they are his now to do with, but quick search on his name would of told you NO.

Also i would of never gave him or anyone that big of a price break.

Unfortunately, these things happen. Nothing that anyone can say will make you feel better about the situation. But this is a very common thing in our business. More times then not, people will buy an animal and turn around and resell it. Though generally without saying that they are going to keep it. No you didnt have to give a discount to begin with, and you felt like you should for the purpose of him using them in his stock, but just like with his current stock, once its his, he can do whatever he would like with it. But either way, I highly doubt that you will have to worry about getting "banned" or "slandered" because you are able to post this thread to express your feelings/opinions on things. Good luck with your future transactions

Josh, I am not going to bash you but really - you maybe should have contacted Ed before posting this.

Sounds like you had them up for sale and he bought a bunch of them so he negotiated a lower price for the group. Then he decided to sell them? What's the problem here?

It's entirely possible he got the animals with the intention of breeding them and then decided to sell them after something else came up but for crying out loud you sold them to him.... So, therefore he is now free to sell them for as much as he can get for them.

Were you expecting him to consult with you before he did anything with them?

I have to agree with Peter. He bought them and now he can do as he pleases. It may not be what you wanted but you sold him the animals and could have checked the BOI before you sold them to him.

I also agree. Even though Ed's reputation is questionable, what he does after he buys them is his business. I worked with a guy way back when that was the exact same way. He would talk a smooth game to get animals for cheap (or even free) and turn around and sell them for triple or more what he got them for.

I'll take it a step further. He may have not liked them in person as well as the pics and decided to keep shopping.

Or

He may have bought them with the intent of reselling them.

There are a lot of big name breeders out there ho do this as a matter of course every year. I sell a few hundred animals at high wholesale to several major names each and every year who then resell them at a healthy profit.....I say good for them

Bottom line, he ponied up a grand, bought the animals and if he wants to sell them he has every right. What he sells them for is 100% his business

I am no big Ed Clark fan but this thread has a distinct sour grapes flavor to it.

I have had a similar experience where I have sold dragons to individuals only because they led me to believe that they were keeping them as pets. Then I see them on my local Craigslist or even Fauna being sold within the day.

What's worse is I have also sold wholesale to businesses who planned to sell them at shows in regions I do no vend only to see my own hatchlings posted here on Fauna in direct competition with me. Naturally, the flipper neglected to mention I had bred them or perhaps even passed them off as their own. Not only was I misled, but I also felt a bit betrayed by the whole thing. It isn't fair to me, it isn't fair to the new owners who are buying extremely stressed animals and it certainly isn't fair to the poor dragons being bounced around and around.

Though to me someone's word is as good a contract, this is simply not the case. Legally, once the animal has exchanged hands, the new owner is allowed to do whatever they want. Which is unfortunate.

I am sorry you got suckered, I know exactly how you feel.

In this business many people will get something off of someone to sell to fund a different project, but they are not concidered flippers, are they? Yes, he may be out to make a profit by flipping animals, or maybe he decided to go a different route with what he was doing, or maybe he is just hurting for cash and needs to get rid of some animals he has. The only way you would be able to find that out is by talking to him IMO.

I think of a flipper as someone who buys low to sell high in a short amount of time. It's one thing to buy an animal as an investment and sell it when the market dictates the best return. But flippers will buy, trade or "adopt" as cheaply as possible and turn around and sell that same animal within days of acquiring it. No quarantine, minimal care, sick or healthy, young or old, it doesn't matter. It's all about profiting off an animal as quickly as possible with no regard for the health or well being of the animal.

Here's a copy of a pm Josh sent me tonight with my reply.

I met him at a rest stop in Md on interstate 95 to purchase some dragons from him as he was selling his dragon collection. I was up front with him telling him I was buying these 5 females to resell and keep a couple for future breeding stock which I did.

Not sure why he is upset with the transaction as he made the deal and I paid him what he wanted.

I was under the impression that these were going to be breeders if o had known you were going to sell them I would have kept them and sold them myself...I will be posting a BOI THREAD regarding all of this. I gave you a deal because you were going to breed them not sell them for a record profit!

Josh I told you I was going to sell some and keep some and that is exactly what I did. just because you see something for sale does not mean it will sell.

I was up front with you all the way, you were selling your entire collection,I called you and I made a deal to buy some of your dragons which I did.

I'm sorry you are bent out of shape, you have no reason to be.you can not tell someone what they can do with any reptile you sell after you agree to a sale and take their money.

Hmmmm - isn't the basic premise of wholesale pricing that the items/animals are going to be resold?

Regardless if he had the best or worst reputation out there why would you even think you would get banned for posting your transaction? I don't know where you have been hanging out but that isn't how this forum works.

There is a prick here in undercuts everyone when it comes to getting tegus and dragons in this forum and will post the same animals the very next day at twice the price . The name escapes me but he is from new jersey and claims to be a big dragon breeder. Bumass bought out two lizards from under me and tried to pm me to purchase them for 100 more then the price the prior owner had them listed for .
