    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

superworms for horned frog?

I was wondering wether superworms are a good staple diet for my ornata. I was thinking not at first, as I know that for beardies they are too rich for a staple food, but on the other hand, this is not a beardie :D
So if any of you have any input, it's very welcome!
 
Smaller mealworms on occasion are ok. Not superworms.They have been known to eat through the stomach of animals if the aren't chewed up enough.Crickets,pinky mice they will take if they are big enough.Wax worms,grubs,grasshoppers and other insects can be used and I am sure they will eat other frogs,but not a good idea. So be careful with the superworms.OK??
 
Yes I did hear about eating through the insides, I take the head of before feeding (gross I know), so that doesn't happen.
I was more wondering about nutritional value. For beardies superworms and wax worms are a good treat, but are too fatty for a staple food. Is it the same with horned frogs or not?
Unfortunately I see you have been banned ... Maybe somebody else could chime in?
 
On second glance... maybe not so unfortunately.
So other opinions very welcome.
 
I feed a lot of supers as a verity not a every day and have never seen one eat its way out they cant live in the stomach acids

True, it's a bit of a discussion point I noticed. I didn't really mean eating it's way out, but sort of managing a few bites before the acids kill it.
Some say it will do that, some say it dies immediately...
