    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

To the OP: Just so I'm understanding this correctly--

**You wanted turtles, but never paid for them (not even a deposit)?

**Then you got mad because the seller got a better offer (on turtles that you never offered him money on)?

**You were going to have these turtles shipped to you, where they are illegal...but don't think anyone should "lecture" you (and by the way, pointing out FACTS is NOT lecturing!)?

**You think that Fauna (that you don't pay a dime to) should "penalize" Big Red for not waiting you on you to pay him before he found another buyer that would?

If there's something I'm missing, please point it out. From what I've just read, this is my interpretation of the described events.
 
And to Big Red, if you DO make a deal with someone, it is not (IMO) ethical to go back and say, "so and so just offered me more money so would you like to match their offer?" I could have seen you telling him, "so and so just made me an offer. If you're serious about buying them, I need x-amount of money or I can't hold them" (amount of money to hold, determined by your TOS).

Personally I will not hold an animal without a minimum 25% non-refundable deposit. By making that statement right away, I may have scared off some buyers, but they were most likely buyers that I didn't want in the first place.
 
I totally take blame for that, I should have said it the way you stated, both of us learned a good lesson, I totally apoligized to him yesterday and even offered him a freebie and he's still sending me pm's saying how bad I screwed him, I don't feel good about this situation, having my name over here in a bad way, but no remorse from him, all in all, just put down a deposit,,,Paul ps HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE FATHERS ON FAUNA

this thread doesn't make you look bad at all you told the truth and really put it all out there on the table some may not like it all "the more money part" but hell your being 100% honest thats better then most.

I also think that the turtles were supposed to be shipped illegally through post office.
 
Although my only comment was in regards to the laws in the buyer's state. The seller isn't looking good in this either. Several people keep commenting on a deposit yet after reading the emails, it does not appear a deposit would have made any difference. The seller was offered more money and took the highest offer. Had the buyer put a deposit down, I think the seller would have still said "someone is offering me $275.00 shipped, not trying to make you pay more but they really want them, let me know, thanks", and would have just refunded the deposit if the buyer wasn't willing to pay more. Does it make the seller a bad guy? Opinions will vary. I just know he isn't someone I would deal with.

Personally, I do not think the issue of a deposit is all that relevant in this situation and the buyer's concerns are valid. I just didn't care for the buyer's comment that Fauna should be expected to play arbitrator in a transaction, especially when it violates state laws. Kind of like the news stories we read where the guy expects the police to do something because he got ripped off during a drug transaction.
 
Mr.Bart, don't say what "YOU" think I would do...first off "YOU" don't know me, if "YOU" or anybody else puts a deposit down on any of my animals it's YOURS! I've totally apoligized for the way I worded the transaction...I'm sorry you wouldn't deal with me because of this situation,,,,like I've stated before I got many emails and pm's saying money is on the way and I want these reptiles but the cash never arrives and I have to go back and change my ads when I've posted that they were sold, I still have my 2 pythons that are for sale because of that very reason, I guess you can't please everyone,,,,,,,,,,,
 
Mr. Paul, I will continue to say what "I" think based on the information provided, and I doubt I am the only one thinking what it is I think. I suggest you not bark orders you are in no position to enforce (notice it was a suggestion).
 
Based on the information provided,,,what,,,there is nothing in that information that says I would send him his dep. back and resell the reptiles to someone else, you don't have a clue!
 
Do you work for USPS? I've been sending reptiles for over a year through USPS, just last week someone wanted 2 reptiles shipped to Ak, so I went to the USPS to find out the rate and was told I could no longer ship snakes but lizzards and turtles were ok, if they accept the packages and ship them knowing whats inside they are at fault too, but that's what I was told,,,All Pro shipped a retic for me last week, so I'm guessing they will ship the turtles for me, but if I can ship USPS, that's the way they are going,,,,Paul

So you just admitted to illegal activity? Nice business practice there.....turtles and snakes are a no go through USPS, everything else is okay....

The way you are handling yourself on the BOI is probably hurting you more then you think.

Ahh, the way the BOI brings out the true colors of people....

I do not work for USPS, but I have some familiarity with the law. I'm disgusted with your attitude, your laziness in not finding and respecting the law, in short, I'd never do business with you.
 
You don't work for the USPS either I'm figuring, so until the USPS says so, I'm shipping through USPS, since you are sooo concerned, get in touch with the USPS and have them contact me personally, no problem, All Pro ships,,,,,all I need is conformation from someone from USPS, your problem with my shipping USPS would be solved,,,period no hard feelings, Paul
 
Just because someone at your local office shipped turtles for you doens't mean it's LEGAL to ship turtles when you've been shown the statute listed and been given links to the USPS site where it says you CANNOT ship turtles.

The OP is wrong in insisting that he should have been given the animals with no deposit.
The OP is wrong in trying to say the site should somehow make someone give him animals he paid no deposit on.
The Seller is wrong in shipping animals illegally.
The OP is wrong in buying animals that are illegal to own where he lives.
The poster is wrong for predicting the seller's actions without cause. There's nothing to say the seller would not have honored a deposit if one had been offered. I'm certain the poster wouldn't want some random person saying THEY would probably steal a wallet if given the chance, and that's just as wrong as saying he would dishonor a deposit without proof of ill actions.

This is another unwarrented BOI thread that happened to bring to light bad actions on the part of both parties(illegal buying, illegal shipping) that were not the original focus of the thread. Go BOI. Always useful.
 
Where's the statute? if I can read it, and that's what it says, then I won't use the USPS, it's that simple folks...the only thing I know is that you say it's illegal, once again, prove it,,,
