This type of thread seems to show up about weekly these days. There is never agreement on the exact moment a sale was agreed upon by both parties. One side of the observers leans towards 'customer service'; the other leans towards 'past experience'. ALMOST every time, there's no clear-cut right answer.....

If anything is to be learned, I believe specificity is called for. "The snake is yours if you place a deposit into my PayPal account within the next hour"...."Am I to understand that I have purchased the snake? Would you like a deposit to hold the animal for me until I pay you the full amount on xx/yy?"

Tomayto, tomahto. I can see (and could argue) both sides. And I bet we'll see another thread just like this within a week .

I have to agree. It is funny however that someone will bash the OP and say "No money changed hands" and imply there is no deal until it does. Then lo and behold they have started a Bad Guy Thread on some one for backing out of a deal.

You know what if someone said they are leaving their house and driving 2 1/2 hours right now and I don't have any plans I might give them the benefit of the doubt and hold it for four hours or so or at least not respond to any email offers in that time frame but beyond that anything without a deposit is just an inquiry. That is just how I do business, I make this practice known up front so there is no squabble if it sells before they make up their minds. The first question I ask once I decide to buy is how do I pay you I don't expect anyone to hold an animal without a payment.

To the OP consider your self lucky if this is the Female spider 66% HET Hypo for 200.

That ad threw red flags the day i first saw it posted. I guarantee that spider was just a spider and at the weight advertised and price it was a Warning to anyone that knew what to look for. Not many people would sell a 600+g female spider for 200 let alone 250 when 2011 females are around 200 and to add in the het hypo. Unless you were desperate for money I dont see the tactic behind this when you have a bumblebee listed at 400.

I smell a fake het being tossed around.

While I can't speak to the question if its actually a het or not, especially being advertised as 66% het, I can speak to her prices a little. I bought a mojave male 66% het ghost a few months ago. Right now he's 700 something grams, and I got him for $225. Which, if you ask me, is a darn good deal. So, either she wants to move these, or doesn't pay much attention to market prices. That's my opinion anyway.

As for this particular thread, I have to agree with the "tomayto vs tomahto" comment. I see so many times on here that until money exchanges hands (I.e. a deposit is made) no deal has been made. The op didn't ask if one was needed, and she didn't ask for one. I guess that means, at least in my opinion, that they both screwed this one up a little bit. I, personally, wouldn't label someone a bad guy based on the information provided.

Really she tried working over on two people, because she did it to the person who offered $250 when she raised it to $300. When she raised it to $300, she started ignoring the OP (assuming since I still haven't seen those headers).

Is it 'bad guy' worthy? Not me. Is it 'info thread' worthy? You bet your . She should not have told him he could have it for $200. This wasn't an auction thread, but a behind the scene auction which is a to some people and integrity obviously varies on each persons level.

Nick hit it right on the head, at least for me and why I'm not saying much. I haven't seen enough evidence of what happened to justify a Bad Guy thread.

Charles, can you provide the e-mails (with headers) that followed the ones you've posted? What happened after she told you that she'd take the $200 deal, and told you which days/times were good for her? How long after that did you contact her to set-up a time? If you didn't get back with her right away, after she agreed to sell you the snake for $200, that makes a big difference (someone tells you that they'll take an animal and then disappears for over 24 hours...). If you DID send her confirmation and then she ignored you, this thread holds a lot more weight. I'm just trying to understand exactly what happened.

I have done business where I emailed someone, told them we were interested, got the price set/straight, picked a day and made it happen, we drove equally to meet and things worked out fine. I believe that the seller should have kept her word and not ignored his other messages.. and in the mean time sold to someone else. I'd be ticked off too if I was told I could have it for $200 but then you ignore me because someone offered you more... poor business tactics.. And I bet that if the seller was actually the purchaser and something like that happened then she would do the same thing and start a thread... it should have been an info thread yes... not so much a bad guy thread. Just to inform us of the situation and for future reference we should then probably have to be more specific in our transaction agreements..

So to the OP, this should be a lesson learned, if you are interested in an animal the first or second email should confirm payment arrangements and whether a partial deposit needs to be made or not to confirm the sale of said animal

I rapidly try to get ahold of her threw e-mails and pm's once she told me I could have the snake for the $200. And no I was not in the middle of driving there to find out she was selling it to someone for a higher price, lol.

I sent this e-mail yesterday morning cause I still have not heard from her ( the only thing I took out was my number)

Hey its charles again I would like to know a time and place for tomorrow to meet up so I can map quest it lol. Do I need to bring something to put her in? Here is my cell # if texting is better for you. I would like a # to reach you at when we get there.

Maybe I'm just missing something (probably all the e-mail headers), but I'm more confused now. You said that you sent that e-mail yesterday morning (today's the 13th), and her e-mail (that you just listed) is from the 9th. Did 4 days go by before you responded to her e-mail that you could get the snake for $200?

I think that was the last e-mail he sent to her before she started texting him. He said he sent that e-mail because he had not heard back from her and as I recall she stated that she ignored him and he sent like 3 e-mails inquiring about the snake and when they would meet with no response until she finally responded yesterday that he would have to make a better offer than $250

No here is when I sent it, It look like that cause that was the only e-mail I got from her to reply to cause she was ignoring all my attempts to reach her after she said anytime during the week's evening was good for her cause of work.
