In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

mites are not a part of the hobby, they are a bad part of the hobby.

whether you have one snake, fifty snakes, or 300 snakes and regardless if you bring stuff in and out constantly, proper quarantine should always be taken. ive had wc's come in to my place, and i have never had a mite outbreak. i have had mites on 2 animals, both were rescue boas that i treated and then adopted out. they were in a whole separate establishment than my collection.
mites do happen (as ticks in dogs, or fleas on cats), the difference is, how you deal with it and if you sell animals that have/still have mites

unfortunately, that will always be used by some breeders. its an easy fix and way out, especially to people that are new to this hobby and really know better.

for me, there is a huge difference between saying, mites do happen (although we try to keep it not at all to a bare minimum) and mites are a part of the hobby.

fact is, mites are everywhere, and every snake is at risk. they are in the enviroment, they are at shows, they are at (some) facilites/homes.

its about keeping track of your surroundings and whats on you. its about proper disinfecting.

for instance, no matter where i have been through the day, i dont enter my snakeroom, until i have declothed, and showered. then i go in and clean them, or just take them out or whatever.

mites are just part of the hobby should never even be a used phrase

NO EXCUSE for selling snakes with mites or saying "it just happens". It "just happens" to people who sell snakes that don't take the proper measures to prevent them. It happens to people who buy snakes who don't take the proper measures to prevent them from getting on to their established animals. Everyone has or knows someone who has had a run in with mites at some time. Preventing them is pretty easy! Getting rid of them and keeping them GONE might not be.

Mites may carry some nasty blood-born pathogens so I have NO idea why people brush them off so readily! If your dog had fleas would you dismiss or play down that problem? A dog breeder who sells flea infested animals is generally not considered reputable, so I just don't buy into the whole "it just happens" thing.

A can of CVS brand lice bedding spray (the same stuff as P.A.M.) costs just $5 and can protect a fairly large quantity of animals. One can could last a small collection months.

Couldn't have said it better. :iagree:

this is a joke declothed and showered give me a break. who dose that.

this is why i cant stand the internet. i have more snake coming in and going out then probably everybody in this thread. if i see mites i take care of them. and i dont think they a really big deal you just deal with them when you have to. i dont treat everything for mites as soon as i get them. im not spraying my snakes with pam and im not going to expose them to chemicals if i dont need to. i dont like using chemicals especially when it comes to babies. but everyone feel free to do whatever you like to your animals. i see jesus is back to antagonizing ways. if anybody wants to have a good laugh go to the thread that jesus started about himself. jesus is the one that got rob to start this thread and if you read through it yu will see that we had came to an agreement prior to the thread.

im done with this internet bs. im done with forums and all of it. i use to stay away from forums and so on and i need to go back to staying away. the losers that frequent them are just that losers that want to fight and argue. you people are a fucking joke

So basically what you are saying is you don't believe in proper quarantine methods. I treat every snake that comes into my collection for mites, even if i can't see them. And since you don't believe in chemicals, you can go right to a petco or petsmart and pick you up a bottle of all natural jurras-a-mite and treat away. I've used it with great results.....and did i mention that it's all natural..... Also if you are getting soooo many snakes coming and going and it causes you to overlook proper quarantine methods, then from one breeder to another, maybe you should slow down. That also should be the main reason you to take precautionary steps. You do care about the health of the snakes you sell and keep, don't you ?

After all that i typed, that's all you can say lol.... Let's see......i bred retics last year....im going to breed them again this year......and the year after that, and so on and so forth....i think.....that.......would....make me......a breeder.....lmao

I don't want to jump into your pi$$ing contest; but one successful season, with plans for more, doesn't make a person "a breeder". I'm not knocking you, and I have no idea what your experience level is - just going by your own statement.
Heck, I bred my first snakes back in 1992, and I rarely refer to myself as a breeder.

I have a lot of experience. But that wasn't the point of that post. Instead of explaining why he doesn't take the proper steps to ensure his collection as well as the animals he sells are safe from infestation and illness from all theses snakes he's bringing in and shipping out, he chose to try to bad mouth me

I did because as i stated earlier, instead of him explaining why he doesn't take proper steps to protect the snakes he keeps and sells from mites and illness, he tried to change the subject and bad mouth me. This thread is not about me or my breedings, its about him selling a mite infested and sick snake to the OP and then trying to flake it off

my bad, should have put this thread can get back on track now, instead of end now.
its actually a very important thread with important information.

my bad. still glad we have a pissing distance winner though !!!
