WikidKitty..... Rawr!!
For those of you that had followed my thread titled 'Well this sucks.....', you'll know that my Bee female gave me 1 good egg and 4 slugs!
I cut the egg a bit to get a little peak on day 47, I was happy with my results, to get a double gene on a single egg... Good odds IMO. On day 52 I made a bigger opening for it. The baby seemed weak, the egg was kinda small. On day 54, it looked like it was losing some color so I cut open them membrane and carefully maneuvered its head to pip out. I watched it take its first breaths and flicker its little tongue as it checked out its new world outside of the egg. Relief, maybe now I could get some sleep!! I was still really worried. It seemed very weak. I very much thought I was gonna lose it and it was gonna pass. I carefully checked to see if its umbilical cord was twisted by pulling it out some. Everything looked okay, I put it back. I pulled the egg completely out, rinsed it off some cause it had substrate all over it, wiped off its egg and put the egg and it into another container with damp paper towels. Back into the incubator they go! When I got home from work, I hadn't seen any improvement. At that point I prepared myself for the worse. Its tail was out some so I gently popped it. I wanted to know what I was gonna lose. Popped a male. Great... Exactly what I was hoping it was gonna be and its gonna die on me!! I could have cried, almost did. I got NO sleep. The next day, still he seems weak, no improvement. I went to work and drove my gf crazy txting her asking how he was doing. My manager kept telling me to get off my phone. I literally told her "No I'm doing something important and having my gf check on a snake I think is gonna die" She could tell my nerves were shot about the subject and said "Okay, just make it quick and don't make a habit of txting" Yea whatever. All my gf could tell me is 'Well he is still alive and moving a little." When I got home I checked on him. Looked like he was starting to absorb his yolk. More relief. I got some sleep but still woke up every hour and gave up on sleep after only 5 hrs. He looked stronger and almost all his yolk was absorbed. Got home from running errands. I took a few pics, yolk is all absorbed, he looks stronger and I think he will make it now but because he was so weak in the beginning he won't be outta the clear til he takes his first meal.
Pictures completely suck, wrong time of day to get any pics. He's really pretty and I think better than the pastel butters I produced last year. I traded one and then eventually sold my hold back, so I was hoping for a male to keep this year. At least I got ONE combo I was hoping to get. Lol.
Ill get better pics once he comes fully out of the egg. He didn't like it when I took the pic in the sunlight. Which is why I only got one. I don't blame him, we are going into an excessive heat warning and expected to break record highs.....
