    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy JIM TALIAFERRO IS A THIEF, DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN 3 YOUR KIDS!!!

this is so completely without morals. :( Why the heck would someone do a kid this way?... If it was one of my kids I would move earth to get this guy.

I wouldn't be able to help much with getting a snake to send the kids, but I'd probably be able to pitch in between $5 and $10.
 
Jim Taliaferro using multiple accounts

[email protected] is his girlfriend's e-mail, Emily A. Schafrick. It doesn't surprise me that he's using multiple accounts to sell his animals, but i don't think it's right. I called the # listed on the account but there is a generic voicemail and no one answered. I have e-mailed both Emily Schafrick and Jim on several occasions with no response. Here is a picture of the shipping label showing Emily shipped the snake for Jim. I think i'll be going after her as well, seeing as how she shipped the snake on his behalf and knowingly assisted him in his fraudulent activity.

Yes ultimately I would like to see Jim be a man about this and set things straight, but its clear he has no intention of doing so. So I am willing to help in any way I can. This is a hobby for me that I enjoy, so to bring a smile to someone elses face especially a child would be payment enough for me for the value of my animals. If I cant find a trade for what I have for the animal you want and if you wouldnt mind a boa in the collection pm me and we can dicscuss things further, I would be more than happy to help out in any way I can.

Lucille I think this is a wonderful idea!! It's one thing when an adult gets scammed which sucks and by no means am I down playing such an event. But the emotional toll something like this could have on a child, is unforgiving and just plain sick. I think it's important for us to come together and make a positive impression on the kids that were affected by this. It's the young and passionate that will be the future of herpetoculture. It's great that so many come to the defense of those that have been wronged here on the BOI but if it's all talk I think it falls short. I think this is a great opportunity for the community to come together and turn a horrible situation into a positive one for a couple innocent budding herpers.

This doesn't negate Jim from any of his responsibilities to make this right on his end!

Lucille would you like to be the point person for collecting money so we can purchase that lucy for the kids. I certainly have complete trust in you to be the one receiving donations to make this happen.

I would be willing to chip in $25-$30 and can do so today if there is an agreement to make this happen.
 
I'd send $5 this weekend...Have to be able to mail it though. Wish I could do more but I am currently doing payments on some snakes. :(
 
This is dispicable. Yes, someone took advantage. But to use the children as weapons in this thread is also dispicable in my opinion. They are too young to be involved in an industry where people get scammed on a daily basis. Kids are not a weapon. Leave them out of the OPs mistake.

Are you kidding me Chris, No-one here are using children as weapons. My son is 12 and my daughter is six (My six year old made over 4k selling some of her babies that were produced from her snakes this season). We should encourage our kids to get involved as early as they are capable. I don't push my kids to do it, I support them and help them to make good decisions. My 12-year old didn't use his money he made off of snakes to purchase games and other toys, He reinvested half of what he made and purchased a pair of clowns and a superblast...and that was his choice!!

People get scammed everyday?? I have been doing this for 5-years and have yet to get scammed once. There are only a handful of scumbag scam artist out there! Most people involved in this hobby have pretty large hearts and look out for one another.

The OP is doing what he should by listing all the facts, showing his proof and informing the community of his unfortunate situation. One more for the Black List.

Back to the thread- Please let me know if a fund is being set up as well. I will be more then happy to donate $50 to the purchase of a lucy (or a plane ticket):thumbsup:

I agree that getting children involved in the hobby is a good thing. "Children" should not be exposed to, or involved in, the business end of the herp industry. What you call "most people", I call a handfull. Too many preditors out there. Do your kids read this forum? Do they watch "R" rated movies? Are they allowed to walk the streets after dark unattended? Good for you that you haven't been scammed once. I'm sure everyone here who has been scammed envies you.

I think you are awesome for offering to donate.
I'm thinking that if Doug (the kids Dad) is agreeable, if he could post up his Paypal address, that way donations could go direct to him.

As well, anyone wanting to donate a snake as a gift to the children or as a trade item toward a lucy could email him to work out the details.
And of course we need some people that have connections to help locate a lucy so it can be purchased when enough funds are collected.

I am flat out proud of this community and those who have stepped up to help these kids. Thank y'all.

I can see where Chris is coming from.

By mentioning children in the thread title, it kind of suggests that he scammed the children on purpose, which I doubt he did.

I really don't see how the children are involved, you "let" your 10 year old trade off an EDB? I'm seriously hoping you don't let your 10 year old own venomous snakes.

Just sayin'.

Doug didn't have to trade with this low life scum, but he did so to allow his kids to follow their interests in Ball Pythons. Since Doug's passion and interest is venomous, this was a way for his kids to be safely involved with snakes. This was also a nice gesture that probably kept his wife happy also.

I would have done back flips if my Dad had gotten involved with snakes when I was a kid.

Lets focus on getting Jim's bad dealings out there to the Herp community!

I'm sure that alot of kids would have done backflips had their fathers given them a gun to play with as well. Maybe he should let them drive his car as well. What the heck, give the child his credit card. At least now people will know how to scam fauna's users into sending them free stuff. Hey, my kid got scammed! Had nothing to do with my judgement! Mo' money, mo' money, mo' money!

All of my kids have guns and bows, have since around age 5, so whats your point? He obviously made the trade to further his children's interest. There was also an additional purchase made to go with the snake that never came. So yeah in my opinion his kids were taken advantage of as well.
 
From time to time when a particularly terrible event surfaces, the Fauna community has gotten together to offer what they can in terms of thoughts, support and donations. To me, that shows the strength and concern for the community for its members; children, particularly, are hit hard by such losses.

I agree that the central theme of this thread, as in all BOI threads, should be to inform others, so that they can choose whether to have future dealings with Mr. Taliaferro.

I have to add though, having spent most of my adult life as a pediatric nurse, I have a soft spot for kids and families. And having spent some years here on Fauna, I recognize that even the strongest, and most powerful personalities here realize that kids are our future, and that time spent helping them, is time well invested.
