In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

WARNING TO EVERYONE..............

Ashley Caspillo just tried to rip me off by telling me that a snake i was sending her died on the way down to her and it really didn't. It died when the snake was repackaged to take the Arlington show and it was put on top of a box of frozen pigs. She then carried on like it still happened on the way down and I said I would replace it thinking something happened in transit and she kept going on like it did happen in transit which the animal was driven down to her.

There are individuals that were there and others that were on hand that can atest to everything went down and she just got done asking me again for a replacement snake.
Anyone that would like to know all the details can talk to Buddy Nester, Cassidy Strong and others that can offer up some details on this whole ordeal.

Just warning everyone so it doesn't happen to her.

Matthew Martin

Matthew, how did you find out about the alleged deception after she claimed to you that the critter died in transit? Have you informed her of this thread?

A few people that was talked to about it at the show (Arlington) and other people that were with her for the weekend. It was unpacked at her house and was fine before they packed things back up and went to airport and hotel for the show.

Matthew Martin

What I want to know is why she repackaged the snake and took it with her to the show? And how on earth could she forget about an investment snake such as that, leaving it on top of a bunch of frozen pigs to slowly freeze to death? The suffering that poor snake went through!

I will tell my account of what happened since I was there when the dead snake was discovered.

Ashley and I were hanging out at the show early on friday evening and went up to the room to grab some animals that she had planned on preselling to some people at the show.

We opened up the box that had her snakes in it, the 6' graniteback retic in question was dead as a doornail. The snakes were in a styrofoam shipping box, stacked up on top of another styrofoam shipping box that had frozen feeders inside it. I do not believe this is what killed the snake as it was only sitting there for a few hours and I don't think the cold would have traveled through both boxes and killed the snake like that.

There were several large snakes in pillowcases in the box so my best guess is that the graniteback had somehow gotten crushed/suffocated by one of the other snakes in transit.

I do not know what happened between Cassidy, Ashley, and Matt as far as that whole communication went down- all i know is that Matt asked for a picture of the dead animal and promised to send her a new snake under the impression that it died in between his house and when we discovered it in the hotel room. Since some people were being babies about the smell I took the snake out and we got a picture to send to Matt.

Monday 2/13 morning Matt and Cassidy both contacted me and I learned that the snakes had actually been opened up at Ashley's house alive, and then repacked to go to the show. I told Matt what I said here, and here we are with a bad situation.

Mike Schultz

Not from my house to the show. My house to Ashley's house in which the animal arrived alive and fine then they repacked and went to the show I believe a day after Cassidy arrived at Ashley's.

So let me get this straight.... Ashley once again obtains a snake, and a day or 2 later trys to flip the snake at a show..... Ashley, how the hell are you still in business..... You bypass quarintine to ensure the snake is healthy enough tobe sold again...smh.... It's quite clear that you care nothing for your customers or the snakes.... This hobby can do without you, so please exit stage left.... And that is not a knock on how you keep your snakes Matt, as I received snakes from you in great health, so I don't want you or anyone to think that.... But everyone knows you're supposed to quarintine a snake when you get it...... it don't matter who you got it from

Sorry to hear about the troubles Matt, at least you found out sooner than later what was going on. Too bad there's people with zero integrity and honesty in this hobby. They don't contribute positively in any way.

As for Ashley, seems she has trouble keeping snakes alive. Too bad there's no way to completely blacklist her(and people like her) from our community. She was pretty active on FB reptile auctions back in January, but haven't seen here there in a while.

First I want to say I"m really sorry about the death of the snake, that really sucks!!
Matt I'm really sorry you're in such a screwed up situation and I hope it gets resolved!

One question I do have that will clear up some things at least from my perspective. Matt did you send Ashley just the one snake? If you did then it is obvious the snake was taken out of the box you sent the snake in or at least the box was opened upon arrival, and then had snakes added to the box or placed in another with other snakes. As stated from Mike's post the retic was in a styro with other snakes in bags.

Quote from Mike's post #8 above-

I can't believe that someone would get a snake in without inspecting the snake (Like make sure it's alive!!) for a couple days then take it to a show to sell! What people do with their animals is there own business no matter how much I disagree or am appalled by their husbandry practices. I know no matter how much I rant and rave about husbandry practices it will just fall on deaf ears to some. But for those who are new and don't know any better need to hear this stuff. I am shocked and disgusted with Ashley's actions here and her previous accounts of selling animals possibly infected with IBD. Well I should say infected with IBD since she never thought it was important enough to share her so called test results with the community and people she sold snakes to. For someone in her position to be flipping snakes is a slap in the face to the whole community and could lead to much more devastating results to an unsuspecting buyer and their collection.

There are just to many aspects of this situation that are just horrific IMO!! At the top of the list is the intent to scam Matt since it's the topic of this thread. That and everything else just makes my head bleed, from the lack of quarantine to IBD and the death of this poor Retic! This topic is getting me all worked up so I'm going to back off from the keyboard for a while. I'm sure there will be plenty of people responding that have the same sentiments as I have.

One last thing I guess that profit that Ashley was looking to make by flipping this snake didn't go as planned. Maybe if she gave .02 cents about the animals well being she wouldn't have lost any money or killed a helpless snake that she was responsible for!!

Good luck Matt, and I'm glad you found out the truth before you refunded her any money!

Since some people were being babies about the smell I took the snake out and we got a picture to send to Matt.

Must ahve been dead at least a day or so if it started to stink....

What smell? The smell of the dead snake?

How long had the snake been in that box with the other snakes after it was repackaged?

I'm asking because the snake would have had to be dead for 2 days or so at least before it really started stinking... and a day or so if the box had a heat pack in it or if the box was in a very warm environment (80F+ degrees)... temperatures at which the body would break down faster.

The fact that people still hang out with or associate with Ashley just baffles me.

This fact that Ashley doesn't realize or care how big she screwed up the FIRST time baffles me.

Oh well, that's 2 BOI threads within a year of each other on why you shouldn't do business with this demonstrably incompetent excuse for a keeper.

This is what was said on FB, as some of you may not be able to read it. We must also get the woman out of our hobby for good
