    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hello, I am known as venomman20. You can call me Brandon. I take in unwanted reptiles. I keep snakes, alligators, caiman, turtles, tortises, and some lizards. I know these animals are not cute and cuddly, but they are my pets, and my passion. Unfortunately, they have out grown their space, and I have to relocate.

I am looking for funds to buy 3 acres of land, build, and open a reptile haven. I want to be able to keep providing shelter for what i already have and to be able to keep taking in other needy or unwanted reptiles. All funds will go to the the land and building materials. I plan on building the haven myself, with my own two hands. I'm more than capable of that.

Right now my reptiles are staying with a friend, but they can't stay there forever. Time is of the essence, or I'm afraid I will have to take drastic measures and give up my beloved pets. With spring coming on, I'd like to put my plan in motion as soon as possible.

Any and all donations will be gladly accepted and most appreciated. Thank you.
 
I saw that; and was going to remove the ad, but decided to run it by the rest of the moderation team.
The fact that his reptiles are "with a friend, but they can't stay there forever" indicates that he cannot provide shelter for the ones he has....

I'm all for people providing homes for unwanted reptiles, but there isn't much about this that makes it sound like a legit rescue operation. Granted, that may be his GOAL....but he's starting out behind the eight ball, IMO, since he isn't even housing his own animals at this point. Right now, it sounds like he's young & wants people to give him a jump start on a home and property.

I looked his page over and I have to say, I am a stickler for the proper use of grammar & proof reading. If you are trying to be professional and raise money, PROOF READ!

The ad is gone - the official response being that solicitations of that nature are not welcome here.
 
Yes, there were some nice pictures. I just thought it was odd that all his other posts were buying and selling posts, and here he was asking for donations.
If he had a history here of posting on the forums about his critters and rescues, I'd probably feel a little different.
I'm not one of those people who hands over money to organizations for people either unless I have a good idea of what they are using my money for. Too many places use donations to fund administrative costs and not for their stated philanthropic goal.
