    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Funny and not so funny of a story on this one...

I arrived at work today and just so happened to look at a couple tubs in a daze of tiredness not wanting to start work. I wasn't expecting anything yet considering I have only seen a couple ovulations just a few days ago. But as I have recently said "I work a lot and I don't see them everyday till I have to". And now it looks like the stress is going to begin. Squeeze the time in to check on the ladies every morning and mid day. I say this only because every single one of my clutches have been laid in the morning around 9-10am. lol If I had not looked at the tub I would have missed these precious little soon to be possible FireFlys. Yes a bit optimistic.. She had only 5 eggs with 2 of them being slugs. She stopped eating a bit to early I think... and I already have had a talk with her about that. haha

And ladies and gentlemen here she is the first of the year for us with many more to come...

Congrats on getting your first clutch of the season, and good luck on hitting that firefly!!

Congrats and good luck on 3 fireflies.

Side note, does anyone else bury their eggs? I use vermiculite as well but simply place the eggs on top of it. Not sure if this is common practice or could be an issue? Anyone else have an opinion?

Should be no issue. I usually bury mine about halfway, but not always (have to bury bigger ones a little more than the smaller ones, in order to fit in my incubation tubs).

I also usually bury mine about half way too but on this clutch I caught a little late so I felt the eggs were a little dryer then I'd like them to be.. So I covered them a little more for a few days to get them back to norm..
