    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have a normal female that ovulated and shed 27 days from today. Her swelling has since gone down, and on day 27 she's not even laying in a coil. I notice she's been more hissy than usual (she's a very, very docile snake), but that's about it. Could she have just reabsorbed her eggs, and if so why would this happen?
 
have you palpated to see if you can feel eggs? I have seen females that do not follow the rules for coiling. Being hissy could be a sign that she is going to lay. I would palpate and see if she is getting soft and mushy, thats a sign that she is going to lay soon.

It's my first time breeding. I don't know what to look for palpitating, but gave it a try anyway, and she is actually pretty mushy.
 
you run your thumb along their back from mid section to tail with your fingers on their belly feeling. When your checking for folicles you will apply more pressure with your fingers to try and feel what seems like marbles. After you have felt folicles and witnessed ovulation you palpate much softer, only to feel bulges in their belly on your finger pads. This requires very little pressure so you do not damage the eggs. I would say with what you have said that you should get eggs soon. If you are going to incubate the eggs remember to take care of mom. You will want to clean her enclosure completely not just the bedding. You want to eliminate the smell of the eggs completely or she will coil like they are still in there and not eat. I mix a tub of listerine (not a lot, just enough to smell in the water) and water to soak her in. While she does then clean well and make comfy so she can recover and start eating.

Yup, maybe even longer. Don't quote me, but I believe someone once said it took 40ish days before she laid. If she's hissy and active, she could be getting ready and trying to find the right spot.
 
Also, I think my last clutch took 33-34 days, gotta re-check, but I almost missed the eggs because I didn't think she was going to go. It was her first time so maybe they take a little longer the first time around :shrug01:

I've been palpitating since I started breeding her, but I think I just don't know what I'm looking for yet. Thank you for the advice! I was going to try letting her incubate herself as long she takes care of them. I'll keep these tips in mind just in case.

Ohh interesting. I'll keep that in mind. I'm going to start checking on her more frequently from here on and see what happens.
