In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Falys..where to draw the line???

Ok well lets see some animals and get this back on track. Leave the back and forth and get back to discussing what Faly's should look like.

This is Dhaulagiri

Ok...Now we are getting somewhere. I would love it if others would post pictures of their animals as well!!;)

So Steve, what about the second animal makes you think cross? Keep in mind that that animal is about 24g in those pictures and a week prior didn't have any rostral process to speak of. Do we expect the rostral process to turn down from day one or it's a cross? Or does it grow down as it develops? The second animal has a similar split in the rostral just like the first. What about color or pattern makes you think that second animal is a cross? It has "red rain" in all the same areas as the first including the inside of the legs. It has a greenish/blue just like the first that when excited can go to an aqua but never truly blue, always displaying a hue of green. The barring pattern is nott highly defined in either animal.

I really would like to get away from the attacks and defending and into really discussing what people feel constitutes a cross or a Pure animal. Like the title says "where do we draw the line" with this highly polarizing locale???

A turned down rostral foration has nothing to do with the locale being a faly I have 3 wc falys and non have the turned down rostral.... And I am getting a 4th one soon that dosent have down rostral foration it is all on each chameleon how they turn out. I have ambanjas that have the rostral foration turned down and i have a buddy that has a ambi and a Nosy be that has the turn down rostral foration so this IMO is not a good judgement of locale....

Awesome Lee thanks!! So If it's not the Rostral what? What can you point out in the animals I posted that make you think one way or another? Also I would love it if you posted up your animals. Specially if you have any pictures of rostrals to make your point above.

I am out and about for the day so as soon as I get a sec. I will post some up. I have noticed it is the head and body shape and of course color that makes the locale. Falys seem to have a more formed point ant the back of there heads behind the fat pads. And falys seem to be smaller bodied locale but long .... As for color there is red rain green to blue color in the bars and a off white background that flashes a bleach white in moods all this is in my wc i have. there is a misconception that falys are white all the time this is just not true at least with wc I am in the process of proving out ch falys right now so there will show some nice differences in ch and cb soon if they prove to be that locale. but there bodys are already long and they are getting the red rain inn.

no i no not have pics of mine as i donot breed the faly yet but from my own obsevations have lead me to this conclusion i am not attacking anyone i am askin a question because i want to be able to make sur next month when i buy my falys i am not gettin a cross. well i hope i can decifer a pure from a impure well enough to not get stuck breeding crosses by accident. but in most ambanjas you see that curly nose tip and faly u see that slope of a nose tip also the second pic the cham has a high ringe on his spine unlike the faly in the first that has the nice sleek look of a faly also the green in the second look like a lime green not tuqoise

mitsio have an under developed rostral compared to most locales. and most of the pics i have been looking at of all dofferent locales have what i have described as rostral difference i believe that the rostral has a big part of telling locales apart im sure there are cases that prove my theory wrong but most i would say are right

Don't worry I didn't take it as an attack. This is exactly what I would like in this thread...people to discuss ideas of what the locale is and look at as many picture of faly both WC and CB as possible.
What do you mean by "High ringe on his spine"? Remember there is a big difference in 24g and almost 100g. Also when buying faly unless looking at adult animals they aren't going to have a rostral. You can see in my last picture the shot of the pointy back portion of the head like Lee pointed out. Believe me both these guys NEVER look lime green, they show the same hues of green from bright turquoise to a darker blue/green.

Mine is looking a lot like yours clarkw3. Mine tends to be more white and less blue. However, the blue is starting to show on his face and eyes mostly. He also has tons of red rain all over his body. My boy also has the exact rostral process as yours. I was too busy for photos today and it was warm enough. It looks like we will have warm weather again by mid week so I will work at getting some good pics for everyone and for a new thread on the cham forum. ;)

we need some same age groups to compare and pick out what we are able to see that can define pure in different age stages!!!

Great! Thanks for posting these photos Rob!! So this guy has a very similar Rostral as the second animal I posted (Maromo) This animal is a little over a year correct? He has it all I would say except for that Rostral that Steve was talking about. That would indicate to me that Lee might be more on track as far as how important the rostral is in indicating purity. This guy has the green/blue coloration the red and LOTS of white in the head and body. Anyone have anything to add about the this most recent set of picture posted?
