In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Monster Cages aka Matthew Martin - frozen feeder experience

I have never received an order without dry ice, and even if they had been big names, I would not want an order of prey for my snakes that had been unthawed/melted/or warmed along the way to me.

I don't know what to say Deborah. Deliveries I received were frozen solid. Maybe small orders would thaw out quickly, I dunno :D

People's opinions will always differ Matt. Some will be judgemental and some won't. Some like to be forgiving and some don't. Some would like for you to handle YOUR business according to THEIR standards. I used to be one of those.

I am not here to nitpick you on how you do your business. I am no longer here for that stuff.

In the end, the only thing I am conscerned about is honesty, transperancy and making good when something goes wrong. You are doing that.

Using words like "judgmental," and "forgiving" instead of words like "differing opinions, and "business minded" is in a way...judgmental in and of itself (of other people's opinions because they are not responding similar to you)):shrug01:

Let me pat my ownself on the back, too.... I believe in taking responsibility for your own actions...does that make me "unforgiving?" I have a standard by which I measure transactions...I am not blown about hither and yon by my emotions (I despise emotional manipulation), does that make me "judgmental?"

I don't want to smell thawed prey before I thaw it out, does that make me a bad customer? My order may be small but does that mean I am not worth making sure that my order does not thaw?:reddevil:

judgments were made. I chose and used the correct words.

Matt IS taking responsibility.

Oh I apologize. i did not know your small order was thawed out. I must have read something wrong.

Matt you are taking responsibility and making it right. That is what matters.

p.s. I am no angel I have made judgments and probably will continue to do so. I know my faults. I am trying to improve them. I have a long way to go.

While Deobrah has not (and I'll make a rather accurate assumption, WILL not) ordered from Martin, Matt the OP, did make a small order that was thawed when it arrived.

Whatever... I know I can't improve myself when I'm picking other people's posts apart. I know when I'm doing that, I am NOT being my best, but perhaps it different for you. :shrug01:

My point is the buyer should not be condemned just because he doesn't want to be bothered anymore and would prefer to just warn people.

I have said nothing about the seller's attempt to make it right. But, it's good that he's attempting to make it right, but if it's going to cost extra for dry ice, I would pass, too. (regardless of how many try to convince us it's a "standard" procedure just because everyone isn't complaining or because the majority of his buyers are BIG buyers that buy thousands of dollars at a time, and so nothing melts. :shrug01:

In short (pressed "Enter" too soon), sellers should not expect someone to complain before they do the right thing.;)

He didn't complain to get me to do the right thing. He didn't say anything about the order so how am I suppose to know if there is a problem if I don't know about it till this post? Then even after the fact I tried contacting him for several days about what he wanted to do with this and took several days to get back to me.

The op stated that this wasn't a bag guy thread but definitely not a good guy post either. But when the seller offered to make things right, it became a good guy thread. Even if one doesn't agree with the shipping practices, the seller showed committed to customer service. I'd rather deal with a seller who follows through than one that that thins the transaction has ended once the money hits his account.

I too would rather deal with a seller that has made "mistakes" and knows how to fix them rather than someone perfect who has never made a mistake and perhaps does not know how to fix the mistake should one ever occur.

Why is compromise ok in this situation? Sure Martin stepped up and offered to fix it. I commend him in that regard, but if he's not willing to learn from his mistakes, what are the chances something like this will happen again?

Martin, start using dry ice. If your feeders really are kept colder than normal, then just a small piece to keep them cold. Along with your thicker styrofoam, that should suffice in keeping smaller orders frozen still.

I would rather deal with someone perfect, because by definition there will be no mistakes.
