• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Chad Horne AKA www.Arabesqueboa.com and www.thetortoisefarm.com

This is sad. Anyone have his address? Call the local police station and ask about it. They may be able to at minimum confirm a burglary of reptiles (not an everyday thing to steal) and if there is no report - file one on him.

Don't worry credit card companies and banks don't like to give money away, they will go looking for their cash and will do so probably through his credit someway. He won't prosecuted criminally but it won't be good though. Same thing for me though on the money, 2 business days and I'll have it back. It is a shame, and I hope Justin who sent him a money order does whatever he can to get some kind of repayment or prosecution if it carries that much of a penalty.

He had to be scamming. you. I tryied to buy them as well from him but never responded I guess he got to you first
sorry to hear that. I did sound a little to good to be true.

Good luck guys....that home invasion crap is just not kosher..although my cousins house was once broken into and they took 5 cane corso puppies and smashed the puppies moms head in.....this excuse comes in to coincidental. Good luck guys. hope you get your money back

No, he just sent all of us that email that his house got broken into and don't think there will be anything further from him, bank is already putting back his charge so I'm pretty much done with it.

I gotta say thats a pretty lame excuse, theres atleast 3 people he owes $400 to. I would assume he is aware of this thread aswell. If its not a scam he should be able to provide at the minimum a police report if not a picture of entrance that was broken into.

It was a scam from the get go, even if he came up with a police report and pics of a broken door it's still a scam. He doesn't owe me anything at this point but I'm sure the bank will go looking for its money.

This story just makes me sick that this guy would completely ruin his reputation over such a small amount of money. But he will live to regret it, because you can easily spend $1,400 in no time and feel like you never had it. Now, if he tries to sell herps again, he will have a hell of a time doing so. If he's sold herps for years, he's going to continue doing so. The more that time goes by, less important that money will be to him, then he will think why TF did I do that. I'm glad this story made it to the BOI. Sorry to hear about those of you who were scammed and I'm glad some of you will be getting your money back.

how would that be a scam if it really happened?
Was it proven that he did *not* have multiple lots for sale?

I agree it looks fishy, but has anyone that was affected by this tried to call the local police to try to confirm (if they would even say) or searched local police action reports?

Just cause he calls the police and files a bogus robbery report and gets a piece of paper saying he claims he was robbed isn't hard. Not to mention we already know he sold his breeders to someone else and that he won't respond shows that it was in fact a set scam from the get go.

Dont you think the police would figure out he filed a bogus report. I think the penalty for filing a false police report would get him in more trouble than burning a couple people.

it happens everyday, people do it for a variety of reasons from a scam like this to insurance fraud. Whether or not they'd figure out if he was lying would depend on how he goes about it. It doesn't matter because there was no burglary and he didn't file anything. Ive done some checking on this guy and basically he's not been doing anything in reptiles for some time now and for whatever reason thought this scam up. I'm sure it's one of many scams this guys got.

the more I think about it, I guess regardless if he was broken into or not, it should be a simple matter to hit 'refund' in paypal or send back out MOs to the people that paid... (if he wasn't scamming that is, so you are right, it doesn't look good on his end right now)

Up to now he has not sent me any money back. I PayPaled him the money almost 2 weeks ago and for me to get my money back I had to go to thru my credit card company. I did finally get my money but not from him but From my credit card. He was a scammer From the start. Like you said April it was hard to click on refund on PayPal.

Exactly, what if they arrived DOA or a number of other reasons that us good hold onto the money until the customer responds that they arrived and that they are satisfied with what they received. This was a scam and not following my own advice and passing on a deal too good to be true from someone I've never dealt with before. But that's why I only use PayPal cause its not hard to get your money back if you're scammed.

Talked with a detective today, there now handling the matter. Thanks for the support and help. I'll update this thread when I know more.
