In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am confused

Hidden gene woma.

Ok what does it mean? I am totally ignorant to this meaning. Can someone explain this to me at a fifth grade level? [That is why I never got into this type of animal.]

I hear people say that this animal can and does show that it has this trait. If you can look at an animal and KNOW it has the hidden gene then why is it called hidden?
If you look at any heterozygous animal such as albino, axanthic, or pieds they all look normal yet they all carry the "hidden gene" for the visual morph. If you breed heterozygous animal to a heterozygous animal you will get out of four eggs one visual morph and three sixty six percent heterozygous. [two heterozygous and one normal. We can not tell what one carries the gene for the above morph.]
So back to my question is what does a normal woma look like and what does a hidden gene woma look like? Pictures please.

The hidden gene woma is a single mutation snake...just like the normal woma. Separate and different, but similar.

There was confusion when the woma and hidden gene woma first came about since they looked similar, hence the odd name. It was thought they had a hidden gene, then later understood as basically being co dom. It creates crazy animals, but a normal from a hidden gene woma is still a normal, it will not carry some random hidden genetic trait

But at this point, its kinda like Het Reds...everyone knows they are co dom, not recessive. They just got named funny.

Kevin's Original Hidden Gene Woma female that started it all.

They ARE similar...but also clearly different

Ok so now I ask what is the difference. Is it obvious?
BTW a pastel is a heterozygous animal. It has a super form.

The HGW super is a lethal combo called the Pearl...bad news! It has serious issues and must be culled.

The difference to me is the "hidden gene". Like Willow said, it isn't necessarily hidden, but that's how I think about it to keep it simple in my head. A normal woma bred to a Lesser will make you Lesser Woma's. Cool snake and everything, but still an average combo, IMO. When you breed a HGW to a Lesser you get a Soul Sucker. <----That is the difference.

I can't post pics now but if someone could post a Lesser Woma, compared to a Soul Sucker, you will see.

I believe Kevin called it a Hidden gene Woma because of the fact it looks very similar to a Woma, yet once added to other gene's it is clear it's on a whole other level.

Hope this helps a bit.
Pictures will be your best bet.

single gene animal. It should have had another name but at the time it was unknown to what it really was. It was suppose to be "linked" to the granite gene. In many cases you cannot see the granite so some either say its there in theory or wait to prove it. I have seen them produce non-hgw granites. The soul sucker is a two gene animal produced by leser. The Sloan brothers have shown what a hgw x mojave produces to take it one step further. There is a whole thread about who is lying about the granite gene and covered up what..........its all bs. Every big breeder is going to try and conceal stuff at first to corner the market, thats business and they should not be blamed for this. Now they should not make stupid statements that will come back and bite them in the rear. The hgw makes some crazy combos and does not have draw backs like the desert. Males and females produce, they have crazy combos and have a lot of potiential still. I have a bunch of pairings planned for the future with mine. I think people just need to think before they buy..........$17,500 for a soul sucker!!!!! Give me $10,000 and I will buy you dinner, movie and a massage! (especially Amanda!)

Ok lets just try these two...to make it less photos to compare

There is clearly a difference...normal womas look A LOT more like spiders then hidden gene womas do.

If you seriously cannot see the difference from the first two pics of a normal woma, to the other 2 pics of HGW's...then I cannot help you. It is VERY obvious those snakes look different

Please tell me what to look for.

Though I agree with this statement, I am going to go out on a limb and say Rick is just having trouble because he is probably looking at the two as the same snake with different attributes. It's like a low quality pastel, compared to a high quality Pastel with an odd pattern. Many people see the two and know they are both Pastel's, but one is nicer than the other.

In this case the differences you see with the HGW having the crazy flames and an almost blurry look...they are not the same.

Again I am only guessing here, but I assume Rick is looking at the HGW like it is just a better example of a Woma, when indeed, those differences in this case are what make the two completely different snakes.

Please tell me what to look for.

Crazy flames, thicker blacks, an almost blurry look.

Rick look very closely at the two pictures again, try to fit them both on the computer screen at the same time...ANYTHING you see that is different, is probably what makes them different. That's really the easiest way I can tell you.

The difference is normal womas look nearly identical to spiders...minus white sides

hidden gene womas have blushing and flames (nice flames, not just lame lighter colors coming up their sides) they have soft spots of brown, and normally bigger webbing then the thin woma webbing

They also tend to have less busy head patterns then a normal woma (again, busy head pattern is similar to spiders)

here is a picture of a hgw where you can see the flames. Also on my male you can see how he looks like he has calico in him but he does not. Regular womas do not have these flames.

Again...that animal does not look like a spider....normal womas look identical to spiders, minus the white sides that spiders tend to have.

Normal womas also wobble like spiders do, of course it isnt noticeable in all womas, just like not in all spiders (but mine sure as heck does!!)

I am unaware if a normal HGW will wobble, as people who own real HGW's have not commented that they wobble
