In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Post pics of your home snake room!

Well I think you may be a bit surprised by the racks I built but hey they work well and all are heated. They are steel racks from Wally World and have heat tape under the hide portion of the enclosure with the bottom insulated with 1/2" foam board. The baby rack was made from two plastic shelving units from Lowes and the incubator is an old bird medic unit I had from breeding Moluccan Cockatoos years ago before I sold everything and became a Pastor. The room is 22' x 24' with a vaulted ceiling. The top tubs are our dubia for the dragons we also keep. Half the room is for our snakes 1/4 for the dragons and 1/4 for the rodent freezer and other supplies.

Yep, I use those same metal racks with heat tape. Work like a charm! I don't have the insulation, though. I've become part-reptile down here, so my place is usually kept rather warm.

here is a couple updated pictures of the new snake building from hell. I say from hell because my "friend" that was pouring the slab did not know when I said a 4" slab that he had to put a footing down for the wall because he does freeway concrete......did I mention it was as smooth as a freeway! So after that cost me an extra $600 to fix, my "buddy" was going to take care of me on the building. It was SUPPOSE to be me and him building it to save me money but he showed up with his guy. Just got the bill which was $1300 more than I told him I had a quote for. Why is it so easy to find someone to screw you and so hard to get love?

Humm, is constructing a building in your backyard in city limits authorized?? Sarcasim..
Looks really good Randy!! Bet your itching to get in there and do the fun stuff.

Looks good Randy, I can't beleive he wouldn't know about a footer. How did you get that fixed for $600? As far as over the quote, here in PA any changes to the original bid must be on a Change of Work order that is a legally binding contract signed by both parties. This is per the national code adopted by most states in 2010. Now I know Cali is funky on regulations, certifications and everything else, so not sure if this applies there. Is the electric ran? Is that a flat roof on there? Don't think I've ever seen corrugated used as soffit before. I must say I envy you though, would be much nicer to have a seperate building that is dedicated to all things reptile. Instead it's strewn all about my house.

its been taking awhile because I have been so busy. When you get up at 3am to be to work by 4:30 then pull 10 hour shifts, get home coach little league and take care of animals building is SLOW going! Fully insulated and part of the drywall is in. I will send more pictures in a week or so.

Really nice Randy. A bummer to hear about your "friend" lol.

Great looking building though. Oh, and +1 Karma for coaching little league! :)

Dang that looks good Randy! You know that levi insulation ain't itchy.. You did use cold water to rinse the insulation off right?

Thanks Amanda. When his mom and I split because she was more concerned with things for her than him, I sold my corvette to get a diesel and toy hauler to take him camping. Since then I put him before everything. When I was laid off the day before my birthday last year I had to sell the diesel and toyhauler so all money made from snakes goes to pay off snake related bills and fund to get a rv to take him camping....and the team I coach!:D

I had to run pick up drywall before finishing up the insulation and starting to hang drywall. When I got back my neighbors were ready to help (on memorial day weekend!) so I just had to hurry and start the ceiling. Never put on a long sleeve shirt........wanted to tear my arms off! I itched until Monday and looked like a lepper!

Moved into my house....so I gots a new room now hehe

Rat and supplies side. The three on top with the dirty shredded bedding instead of Pine are soft furs, most of the normal rats where in the rat rack. (yes dirty, they got cleaned lol) YES my lab cages are OLD and ugly...but they work very well :p

Nice and VERY clean Willow. Don't have to go far to get rats. I have a metal shed outside that I just finished insulating, but not as nice as Randys'. I have to walk 100' round trip to get food for the snakes. I also have Peruvian horses, so the shed is a multi storage unit. Snake food, horse feed and tools.

You guys have any trouble with smell of rats inside the house? I think my one supply for a rat guy culled his collection because I was his only buyer in a small town, and since I leave for the summer he was not making any money. I figured I could possibly build a rack system and leave it in my garage at school.

As long as I keep them clean, I don't have to big of an issue. I have an air purifier in my snake room, not sure if it helps but it makes me feel better lol

People who don't live in my house might notice the smell of pine bedding upon entry, maybe, but most people don't even seem to notice that I have an abundant amount of rodents. So I like to think they can't smell them to much lol
