Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just received this small and frail "5 month old" Nosy Faly. He arrived at 11am this morning in pretty bad shape. I couldn't believe what I saw. First off, he's tiny for his age. The poor guy seems emaciated. His casque is sunken in, his limbs are very thin and you can see his hip bones. His ridge is starting to dip and his grip seems weak for his size. Not to mention that he keeps flushing his eyes and when he's not flushing them, he has them shut, both of them. He spent all day this way, he drank plenty of water but did not seem interested in food just yet. Hopefully he'll show some interest tomorrow when he's a bit more settled in. I'm hoping he'll quickly recover in my care and that I can undo the damage done by Jeane. Especially since she refuses to do anything about it since he arrived ALIVE. She claims that he was perfectly fine when she sent him. The severe condition of this chameleon could not possibly have happened overnight. She also claims that this chameleon came from chamsNW. If this were true, I know that they wouldn't send her a chameleon in this condition. So I can only presume that she's the cause of this chameleon's condition. View pics below.

He spent most of his day with his eyes closed.

His hip juts out.

His ridge appears abnormal. Also notice the size of his eye in this next pic, he was flushing his eyes.

Well it has been a while since I have heard anything about this seller! You can do a search and know that this is not unusual for her...She has a long history on Fauna...Just search her name and you will come up with several bad guy threads. That poor baby, I sure hope he comes back up for you. Chams are so fragile. My thoughts are with you and your little one.

Hydrate him well & if he still won't eat you can syringe feed him a slurry of crickets, meal worms and/or superworms & pedilite to help get his strength up.

I feel for him & you. Good luck.

I usually never get involved in others business, but in this persons case, I felt compelled.

The reptiles Jeane Best is selling, belong to her daughter Wendy Childs/Reptile Addictions, Wendy supposedly had a second stroke, that's reason her mother is selling Wendy's animals.

In addition Jeane is also in the process of selling a male Uromastyx that was stolen from my good friend, Doug Dix of Deer Fern Farms. This can be verified by Doug.

In my opinion, I would HIGHLY recommend NOT doing any business with either, Jeane or Wendy. PERIOD!

I'm working on getting him rehydrated. I got him to drink water and pedialyte yesterday and today. He has yet to eat on his own, I offered him a bit of bug juice through a syringe and he lapped some of it up. I have high hopes for this little guy. I believe tomorrow will tell me a lot, as far what direction he's heading in.

Out of curiosity, did you research the seller here prior to purchase? she and her daughter are pretty infamous as scammers in the industry

Wow looking at the pics if that is a normal size umbrella plant that cham is tiny for 5 months old. I hope you get him to recover.

Hey Derek, how you've been? Not sure if you remember me. My wife and I bought 3 female Ambilobes from you at the west palm show back in jan or feb? Hope all is well. Anyways, yes it's a normal size umbrella plant. To make matters worse I was just informed that this cham could actually be 7 months old

Yes I remember you guys. Can't believe that cham could be 7 months old thats horrible they must not have been feeding it. Have you tried silkworms? Pretty much every cham I have won't turn down a silkworm. Plus they don't move around much so it will be easy for him to get them.

I for one would like to know what Jeane had to say about this. Did you contact her about it...what did she say?

From the OP's first post:

He's going out this afternoon, via USPS. You will get an email when it arrives at the station. I sent it as a hold for pick up due to your high temps. Tracking www.usps.com- #AJ500232745US. Please let me know when he has arrived.

I'm sorry, where do I have to pick him up at? Could you please give me a call? I feel a great deal of miscommunication between us. I was not aware that I had to pick up the package, also USPS is horrible for shipping live animals, they're never on time and they usually take 2 days to arrive. I have a few questions for you, please give me a call 786-394-7048

Thanks,
Luis

Hi, I got the faly this morning. I actually went to the post office to pick him up at about 9:30 - 10:00 am. When I arrived I was told that the carrier had the package and that it would be delivered to my house. It arrived to my house at about 11am. He made it safely, thank god. However I do have some concerns, he seems a little on the skinny side. You can see his hip bones and his casque pads are sunken in. Besides that, his eyes appear irritated, and when he's not trying to flush them he keeps them closed. I can try to get pictures of this if you'd like. On a side note, I've seen him drink lots of water but have yet to see him eat. Not that I expected him to on the first day, but I've gotten plenty of chameleons that have eaten as soon as I put them in their enclosure. Please get back to me.
Thanks,
Luis

I glad he got there okay. He's probably stressed from the shipping. It's possible that the paper irritated his eyes. I mainly raised bearded dragons. I know he was eating and drinking really good while he was here.

Maybe, but his eyes could also be a vitamin A deficiency. I just wanted to let you know the conditions I received him in. I have other chameleons that are similar to him in size, but he seems frail when compared to them. I'll try to bring him up to speed, but I would like some type of reassurance. Chameleons are known to be a bit delicate to keep. They tend to go downhill fast when they have any type of issue. I would like to know if worst case scenario I have any issues with him, will I be compensated? I think a 60-90 day period would be a fair amount of time for him to build the muscle mass that's missing in important places such as his casque and legs. Also, something I do to check my chameleons' grip is to have them grab onto my hand while out of their cage and turn my hand upside down. The chameleons instincts are to squeeze tightly (be sure to hover over a bed or something just in case). I really hope he does well, he looks like he's going to be a stunning Nosy Faly.
Thanks,
Luis

He is use to eating roaches and some silk worms, but not crickets.

LUIS TRIANA

Also, I forgot to mention that I offered him silkworms once I noticed he wasn't very interested in the crickets, but he didn't go for the worms either. I wish you would've told me this before. When I asked if he was a finicky eater, you replied "will eat anything". I only buy other feeders such as silkworms, horned worms, butter worms, and roaches on occasion and feed them as treats. All of my chameleons are on a staple cricket diet. Anyways, like I said before, I'm willing to try to raise him just as long as I have some sort of agreement with you.
Thanks,
Luis

Sorry about misunderstanding about the food issue. I raise silkworms, so that is the food that most of my reptiles eat. As far as him being 'skinny' I don't have lots of chams to compare him with. He was eating, drinking and doing good here. He's a baby, just got shipped, so give him a day to recover.

I did visit your site. It says
"Refunds/exchanges are made on a case-by-case basis at my discretion. Please report any problems to me immediately, and I will make every effort to solve them with you. No return will be considered after 3 days of purchase. "
If this is the case, then I would like to return him. I will send him back in the same box/packaging I received him in. I would like to mention though that I cannot guarantee live arrival. I also don't recommend that he be shipped out within your 3 day policy, I would recommend letting him get some food in his belly and rehydrate before sending him back. But if I only have the 3 days then let me know when you want him.
Thanks,
Luis

No, I will not except him back. Temperatures are to hot on my end. He was fine when I shipped him and he arrived alive. If you were to ship him back and he died, not only would you be out the $300, but also another shipping. No one does blanket health guarentees.

Yes, he arrived alive, but not healthy and in poor condition. If it's too hot on your end I can use the hold for pickup option or I can wait until it is cooler to ship him back. I have no problems taking care of him until he can be shipped, I just don't want to pass your 3 day policy. I'm not trying to be difficult, but I did pay $300 for what I thought was going to be a healthy chameleon. The chameleon you sent me is by no means in good health.
Thanks,
Luis

Sorry you're having buyers remorse. I will not accept him back.

LUIS TRIANA

It's not buyer's remorse. It would be if he was healthy and I decided he just wasn't what I wanted. In this case, I received a chameleon that was not healthy as shown in the pictures attached. In pictures sq11 and sq13 you clearly see he has a sunken casque. In pictures sq17 and sq18 you see how his hip juts out. In pictures sq5 and sq6 it shows him with his eyes closed even though it's day time. Last but not least, picture sq3 seems to show a small deformity on his ridge what could be due to mbd. Any reputable breeder / dealer would not have sent out any animal in these conditions. Quite honestly, it seems as though you are not following your own terms of service. I do not see any effort from your part to correct the situation. Please be civil and do the right thing.
Thanks,
Luis

As someone who knows more about iguanas, geckos, snakes and turtles, what is "flushing his eyes" mean when youre talking about a chameleon?

Anyway, I really hope that he comes through for you.
Hes a cute little thing.

Obviously you purchased the animal through a KS ad. You need to send an abuse complaint to KS. I don't know if selling an obviously sick/emaciated animal would qualify as "fraud", but at the very least, if Jeane is indeed selling someone else's animals (i.e. Wendy's) that was implied earlier in the thread, then she is breaking KS's rules "You may NOT post advertisements for other individuals, regardless of whether they are friends, relatives or family members."
