In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Bobby Hill - Varnyard Herps: Buyers Beware.

This is sad.. its not that difficult to apologize and let your customers know their are no babies.. ok your dirt broke, understandable... really it is. BUT I'm sure everyone of your customers would give you time to satisfy your agreements in some way. No one wants to hate you for ripping them off and not talking to them but what other option have you given them?

Bobby has demonstrated his disdain and lack of interest in resolving this issue by his silence over the last couple of weeks.

It is obvious to me that the individuals that have been left hanging with deposits unrefunded (not to mention that poor Irish guy that is out several hundred stolen dollars) may as well consider themselves screwed.

I think the Irish guy got most of his money:

A member here who wishes to remain anonymous has taken it upon themselves to give me $850 of their own hard earned money.. I cannot believe this unbelievable show of generosity and want to thank them so much as the money is really needed at the minute.

There really are some very good people out there and this person in particular is living proof... I wish them the very best of the IRISH luck and every success in the future.

As for Mr.Hill who should have been the one to refund me my own money i hope by the 12,000+ views to this thread you see that this is not the way to conduct business in the future.

All the best
Simon

but I think others are being left without refunds. I had hoped Bobby would have shown up and said something about what is going on. But it has been a while, I don't think that is going to happen.

I missed that post. Glad to hear it. The others are still victims though

Varnyard Herps is a complete scam.

I placed deposits down in March for a male red tegu and female extreme giant. In early July when I later discovered all these stories about bobby and 2011 red tegus, I called him to make sure everything was going to be fine. He said that he had extra red breeding pairs going this season and that he was 100% certain he would have a red tegu for me. He said the eggs were already laid, and that my red tegu was in a clutch scheduled to hatch of July 16. He said my extreme giant female had already hatched, but he was waiting on the red to hatch so he could ship them together. On July 18th I called him to check in & left a voicemail. The call was never returned. I have since heard from other people that he did not produce any reds.

Looking back on it all, I believe he knew up front that he would not have any reds, and sold one to me anyway. During our initial call he sounded a little shady when talking about the reds, and kept trying to sell me on an All American. I was dead set on a red though.

Complete scam. I don't throw around accusations lightly... but this is a complete scam.

Yet another satisfied customer...

Not that it's going to help you get your money back, but you should post whatever payment invoice you have. Just for posterity, and to show how bobby "legitimately raped" yet another person's bank account. Not sure about whatever statute of limitations there may be for PayPal claims, but if you happened to use PayPal, and paid either with a credit card, or by a debit from your bank account, there may possibly be some recourse to dispute the charge.

Was the female extreme giant ever shipped to you?

Disputes must be filed with PayPal within 45 days, you then have 20 days to escalate your dispute to a claim. This is why most recommend using a credit card if there is any expectation of a delay in shipping (waiting for animals to hatch, for babies to start feeding, shipments to arrive, etc)

It was not. I eventually bought only a red male from Ty and gave up on trying to get ahold of Bobby completely.

There are a ton of people on tegutalk right now in the same boat also. I got to this BOI link from one of the many 'Where the hell is my varnyard tegu' posts.

On a side note, the red I got from Ty is awesome. Great buying experience.

As requested, a cut and paste of my paypal transaction details is below. Only editing is that I changed the last 4 digits of CC and bank account to XXXX. Note that it was for only $225. I don't know how that adds up, or if he cut me a deal because I ordered two or whatever. I think a red deposit + giant deposit should be 125 + 175 = 300, but 225 is what he invoiced me for. I guess he has adding problems also.

Was the female extreme giant ever shipped to you?

Meant to include this in my previous post - since Bobby claimed the extreme giant was already hatched, I'd be especially interested in seeing any communication explaining why it couldn't be sent. Of course, that would require admitting that he couldn't provide the paid for red tegu...which would in turn require an immediate refund - neither of which seem to be forthcoming from Bobby.
I didn't much care for Bobby, after some of his antics here; but I - like many - had him pegged as honest and good intentioned. I've expressed my disappointment in these developments before, but I can't help but say it again. This is just sad.

He said in a phone call around July 1 that he just wanted to ship them together. By this time I had read all the threads about him ignoring people, and I didn't want to get on his bad side so I just let it be. I thought if I pushed shipping the extreme asap he would put me in his 'irritating people' category and I might have trouble getting the red in a timely manner. I have not spoken to him since that call. I assume, as you said, he just didn't want stir the waters about the red. Even more interesting though was that he never invoiced me for the second half of the extreme when it hatched. I only found that it hatched when I contacted him for an update. I guess he REALLY didn't want to stir the waters with respect to the red.

I really wish I had paid more attention to some of the negative posts I found about him before I first contacted him. There were just too many people sticking up for him. They made it sound like a few people were just emailing him every day asking for an update, so he was selective in answering them. Boy was I wrong.

Don't feel bad Scott, you trusted him and he robbed you.you can't go thru life not trusting anyone.

The people sticking up for Bobby is a clear example of the buddy buddy good ol boy system alive and well, some will stick up for their friends regardless of how they treat others.

The number of people that were robbed by Bobby Hill should all start calling the Police Depts in Bobbys town and also their own town, if enought people start calling they will have to investigate this thief Bobby Hill.

Sorry this hapened to you, don't let it go keep after him.

He did receive some money from someone that wanted to help, he did not get a refund from Bobby Hill.

I believe he was gifted $850 from the person who wanted to help, and $500 refunded from Bobby.

I could not find anything saying Bobby refunded any money, its possible he did?

I saw this post on the Irish thread, Ed:

And refund.

I have a feeling that, before all is said and done, a lot more people are going to wish that they'd been less dismissive of the writing on the wall. It's no accident that bobby avoids this website. He's piss-scared of the BOI, and wants no part of any discussion forum in which he doesn't have editorial control.

Having read some of his threads over on TeguTalk, it's fairly sickening how many people are able to convince themselves that, as long as they're not the ones getting screwed, his new business paradigm is somehow excusable. After having, in the past, so vehemently railed against those who were doing then, exactly what he's doing now, I guess he just finally decided that he wanted to see how the other half lives. However, enough with ranting about how worthless of an individual he really is. It's already abundantly clear.

Since you paid with a direct transfer from your bank account, have you contacted them? It's possible that you'd still be eligible for whatever buyer protection services that they have.

From what I have seen, the problem seeing the handwriting on the wall clearly was not only that there were mindless yet vocal followers of Bobby, but if anyone on any forum disagreed with him, he would sometimes fly into a rage and attack them for what were reasonable, courteous questions.

Thanks Lucille didn't look there.

So I guess its 1 down with how many others hanging in the wind?

Ed, unless someone paid with a credit card or other form of recoverable funds I'm thinking they will all be SOL unless they want to purse legal avenues, but given that these were deposits that might not be an economically feasible choice.
I would think that if Bobby planned to make good, he would have stopped by and tried to make some kind of amends or notifications by now.
