In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

-contacted seller in text
-expressed interest in red-orange female dragon
-agreed upon total price and shipping date
-sent paypal payment
-shipping day arrives, no dragon
-texted seller to inquire if shipped?
-seller says no payment recieved
-I check paypal, payment WAS sent but left unclaimed
-i tell seller yes it was sent
-seller says Oh i already sold it to someone else
-i express dissappointment and say thanks anyway

My Points
1. if payment wasnt received by shipping day should i have been informed?
2. If another buyer approached(or bid higher) shouldnt i have been informed?

The only way this is remotely ok is if paypal had a glitch which i highly doubt...even so i should have been informed....i was really looking forward to this dragon.

To your points:
1) As a seller, I'll say "No." Quite simply, a large percentage of the people that contact, discuss, and promise payment don't follow through. If the payment doesn't show up, we move on.
2) Again, "No". People either buy it, or don't. Money talks, first payer wins. (I know, you sent payment...but it wasn't received, so it doesn't really count)

There ARE times when PayPal payments seem not to be posted...but, while that could be the case, I suspect that it is more likely to have been a mistake with the address.

(If it was sent to an actual PayPal account, there really isn't such a status as "unclaimed"...the payment simply goes into the account, no claiming is required).

Actually I have had a few payments come in as "unclaimed" and I had to log in to claim them. I find it most often happens when someone uses a shipping address that is different from their paypal address. However, I do get an email advising me I have a payment to review and all I have to do is log in and click a button to claim the payment.
Regarding the op's issue, it all comes down to if he sent it to the right paypal address and if so why didn't the seller log in and claim it....

I think it could go either way. What exactly was the text message? Because sometimes when people are working out a deal it isn't all set in stone. Even if they say they could ship it on such-and-such a date, it's not a "done deal" until it's paid for.

One thing I find suspect is the "money unclaimed" issue. Every time I've used PayPal it just transfers money out of my account and into the other person's account. And when I've been sent money, PayPal immediately notifies me through email.

So far this is pretty much just a miscommunication rather than a "bad guy" thing to me. Did she refund the money you sent?

If it is unclaimed the other person, I believe, cannot refund it. If you misspell a name and it is sent to someone who does not have an account (bnecause they do not exist at that address) the sender must get it back, they can do that themselves by I believe just cancelling the payment.

what does Paypal show as the status of the payment you sent on your account screen?

I recently ran into a glitch trying to buy something online, checking out with paypal, the screen froze, I had to re-do it. The 2nd payment went fine but the first time I tried to pay it is still sitting in my account as 'unclaimed' and the vendor said they only showed the second payment come to their account. I am still trying to figure out how to cancel the payment through paypal (I'll be contacting their dispute center, online the only two options to dispute are 'didn't receive product' or 'transaciton made without authorization' and netiher apply in my case, but that is getting off topic).

I guess that may have something to do with the sales venue. I have had hundreds, if not thousands of PayPal transactions over the years (buying and selling); and the only 2 times a payment posted as unclaimed, the people had mistyped their PayPal address.

Try clicking on the word 'unclaimed' in your Paypal account. I can't remember but I'mn thinking a click brought up the option to cancel the transaction. I did not need Paypal's intervention.

oops sorry mines shows 'pending' not unclaimed (no option to cancel).

OP - what does it show on your paypal?

This exactly it happens all the time people tell you they will send payment and they do not then someone else comes along and actually do what they say they will do.

Now as for the unclaimed payment as someone who has been using paypal since 2004 I can tell you that if you send a payment and it shows as unclaimed this means that you sent it to an email address that is not yet registered to a paypal account, in other words if you made one mistake in the email address (put the wrong letter or forgot 1 letter or a dash etc) the payment would show on your end as unclaimed and the seller would never be aware of it since it was not sent to his email address.............now all you need to do is cancel the payment.

Mr. Connelly,
Have you notified her of this thread? Her input could shed a lot of light on things.

I went back through my email's from Paypal and found one that was requiring me to "confirm" money. It was due to the buyer using an unconfirmed address. I have copied the email below only deleting personal info.

Hello XXXXXXXXXX,

This email confirms that XXXXXXXXXXX has sent you $300.00 USD with PayPal.

To complete this payment, you must accept or deny it within 30 days by clicking here.

If you do not accept or deny this payment within 30 days, it will be cancelled and the funds will be returned to XXXXXXXXXX's account.

Payment Details
Amount: $300.00 USD
Transaction ID: XXXXXXXXXXX

Note: Final payment for Clown Male 2 (Sent using the PayPal Mobile application)

View the details of this transaction online

This payment is pending because the sender did not include a Confirmed Address with this payment.

Remember, to be covered under PayPal's Seller Protection Policy, you are required to ship to the buyer's address displayed on the Transaction Details page. Learn more about PayPal's Seller Protection Policy here.

You can change your preferences to automatically accept or deny payments sent without a Confirmed Address in your Profile. Get started by going to your Payment Receiving Preferences.

That indicates the status as pending, which is not the same as unclaimed...PayPal doesn't use the terms interchangeably.

heres a screenshot...after i canceled it...but the second box shows i made the payment... if it was a glitch on her end, or it somehow didnt get delivered that sucks and i apologize...but i sent it to the email i was texted ..also ill have to disagree with some of you... when a buyer is serious they should be kept informed...or at least attempted to...just because youve had deadbeat non-buyers in the past doesnt mean you treat every one as such...im a tattoo artist , ive had bad clients now and again, but if i treated them all like those i wouldnt have many repeat customers and wouldnt have been in business for 14 years... each person deserves a fair shot

I don't see how the seller was in error in any way, shape, or form. If a seller does not receive "promised" money by XXX date (or their own timetable), they are free to move on to the next customer, imo. Sellers are not obligated to chase down everyone that promises to pay (and, in this case, the seller did not even know that there was a glitch holding up the payment).

The error does not seem to be on the seller's part at all, and to attempt to hold him responsible for one's own error is a bit irrational, again imo.

Customers are treated as serious customers...but that doesn't mean we have to chase them around if they don't pay. Sometimes I will send a message asking if they are still interested, but, more often I won't (because if they were, they would have been in contact). Mistakes happen, that's why I send a seller a message indicating that payment has been sent - if it isn't received, they followup. (There's a big difference between I will pay, and I have paid)

Please post the communication in which she provided her PayPal address.

And, again, have you notified her of this thread? One sided accounts always leave us wanting more (namely the other side)

I just sent her notification, she has a number of ads in the classified so it was easy to find contact info.
