And herplobby isn't a scam? This is the fourth name change Wilkins has made to his group. Coming out and saying "Don't give to them. Give to us." without any notches on their own belt is one big pretty red flag. Wilkins has been caught lying several times. His tactics are to run a smear campaign against USARK and make them look bad. Must be the only way he can make himself look good, to degrade others so he seems better by default. I used to work with people like that. Totally inept and incompetent so they make others look bad to keep their job.
Terry can't even comprehend and read the NC law he bashes correctly. It was on an internet radio show he stated that monitors were listed in the Certain Reptile law; which they are not. Only lizards on that list are beadeds and gilas due to being venomous. Not one damn varanid is listed. There's no permits or licenses. It actually made venomous legal under the Best Management Practices whereas before NCARK got to it, you couldn't keep them without ridiculous loops making it a defacto ban.

On the USARK Facebook page it states that Zoo Med is matching dollar-for-dollar every dollar donated to USARK in 2012 up to $100,000. This is in general donations, not to the legal fund.

The last financial report i saw (just prior to Daytona) indicated that approximately $20K had been raised for the legal fund at that time. We are a long way from being able to pay a retainer for a federal law suit, but we are working hard on it.

I don't think a general statement like that is warranted. Many may not know much about reptiles, and there are genuine well founded concerns about the behavior of irresponsible keepers. One does not achieve much success by addressing real concerns with name-calling, in my opinion.

I certainly can see why they did that in your case. You've come here, initiated a hard-to-read post in all caps with no facts to back your many assertions. From what I understand you are saying that because many of us have a common goal in keeping our reptile critters, you feel as if we cannot voice any concerns with strategy or how the programs you are involved in are being run.
Good luck with trying to put the hush on here, if I see something that I believe needs to be addressed, I will say something, and there may be others who share my feeling that reason and knowledge are better companions than blind faith where politics is concerned.

No one is attacking anyone. We're just asking questions that aren't getting answered because some folks now feel they're too important to talk to the little guys who have supported them all along. If we're sending money, we don't have the right to ask some questions? Are you serious? I'd been a supporter of USARK from the get-go, and sent way more than I was comfortable sending. Frankly, I'm over anyone who tells me I HAVE to send money to anyone, for anything. I've been ripped off enough, while trying to do what's "right", to have learned to trust no one. I'll still write letters and talk to my elected officials, but I don't need an entity who is above answering simple, logical questions to help me do that. If they are going to all of us rather than to a big fancy corporation for donations, they need to be transparent about finances and they need to hire or appoint someone who will give updates and answer questions.

Money is tight for everyone right now. It's not like the old days when there was spare cash floating around.

None of us should be expected, or guilted into, parting with money without being able to see how it is spent.

We've seen good guys go bad, we've seen good companies go bad, it doesn't take that much extra effort to put together updates to make sure our money is going to guys who are still

1)Good and
2) Fighting for us.

We've yet to get details and transparent answers as to where our money is going.
