Bad Guy Bobby Hill - Varnyard Herps: Buyers Beware.

OK, refresher. Calling regularly but now no voicemail. so it just rings and rings. I bet he disconnected the machine and set the phone to silent. tried to get an account to tell my story on tegutalk two days ago and still not activatedso there room "bobby hill came through!" its just gonna keep getting publicity and further off topic. going to the reptile show tomorrow if i can find an argentine there for around 100 awesome. if anyone reading this has a 2012 argy to sell to a good home i can do 100 plus ship. just a shot in the dark thank you
 
I wanted to provide everyone with a message I just sent through the Better Business Bureau regarding Varnyard Herps.

I paid Mr. Bobby Hill a total of $150 for a black & white Argentinian tegu (lizard). I did so through PayPal on June 4 and Jul. 30. The payments were for $75 each. On August 2nd, Mr. Hill contacted me via email and said he would be shipping the hatchlings out and to be patient. I emailed him throughout this period in an effort to determine a specific shipping date. The email dates are as follows:

24 Sep
21 Sep
13 Sep
11 Sep
6 Sep - Received phone call from Mr. Hill asking me to be patient.
4 Sep
1 Oct
3 Oct
21 Oct

I also called Mr. Hill several times during this period. I did not get to speak to him but left messages.

Varnyard Herps' policy, http://www.varnyard-herps-inc.com/, states, "Deposits are 100% refundable if no animals are produced." Despite numerous attempts to resolve this issue, Mr. Hill has failed to return my emails or phone calls.

Your intervention would be appreciated.

In 2011 I send 2350,-$to Mr.Bobby Hill. You can say "He has to be foolish to wait for so long time". But I was so excited and happy to make the order at so known and respected breeder - Bobby Hill. I emailed him many times. His several answers where the same: Still waiting for CITES papers from goverment. And I trusted him.....I built terarium, spend money for heating lamps, heating rocks, UV lamps......
I left many messages on his answering machine. I was lucky to got him on the phone twice (I have records). The result was - "Still waiting for papers, my exporter left with my money, but i have new one"...this was in August 2012. Then I started to read forums and I learned that he lied me, he fooled me.
Do you think I can get my money back?

New facts

The breeder of tegus should be listed on export CITES permit if he want to send them to abroad. So I asked U.S.Fish and Wildlife service whether Bobby Hill or Varnyard Herp Inc. ever applied for such permit(according him the waiting for CITES permit was only reason why he never send animals). Here is their reply :

We have no pending permit applications nor have we issued any permits to Mr. Hill or Varnyard Herps in the past 5 years.

This is not correct. Currently the issuance of an export permit takes between 30 and 60 days usually less. If you provide the name of the company, we can let you know if we have an application pending. Note that the processing fee for such a permit is $100 and that fee is required with the application.

Almost 12 month Iam being told that it is regular waiting time, that to obtain the export permit takes so long.
(On your application form I have red that some applications may take longer than 90 days to process.)

May I ask you whether is this regular process, and how long it usually takes ?

That means that the fraud was planed for long time...at least for 2 years.
 
I'm urging everyone who's been scammed by Bobby Hill to file a complaint through the Better Business Bureau. We may never get our money back but we can at least ensure he doesn't con anyone else.

If any of you paid via Paypal, you might consider writing them an email with a link to this thread.
That way he might be denied the use of Paypal when they see what he is doing.
As well as the BBB, I hope each of you that has not received your critter, has been filing an online complaint with your respective Attorney General Consumer Fraud offices.
When enough are filed, they may go after him, at their expense.
 
It boggles my mind how many people have paid Bobby Hill for tegu's in the past 2 years and have received nothing. the dollar amount is big, how he has been getting away with it for so long is unbelievable. start calling his local Police dept. and tell them about how he robbed you. enough calls might get them to take a harder look at him.

People reading this thread that are not members please register and tell your experience with Bobby Hill if you also had a similar bad experience.

Bobby you have said time and time again that Bert taught you everything you know about Tegu's...did he teach you this?
 
People need to be contacting the police in Bobby's area about this. With as many people are complaining, I can't imagine they would just allow him to continue to operate such an outright scam. Also, it seems like with all of the interstate as well as global scamming that he's doing that the feds could be involved. I'm no lawyer, but it seems like at the very least, if everyone in this thread that's been scammed called his local police dept, some things would get rolling. Even if you don't get your money back, you could stop him from ripping off other people. He needs to be stopped.
 
This is beyond the BBB. This is a matter for IC3 and law enforcement. It is theft, not bad business.

His paypal acct has already been closed. That is why he requests moneygrams. It is the only form of payment he can accept.

Going after him will take some time. The BBB is, just like here, a record people can check prior to doing business. One can do BBB and other things as well.
I hope that people have been making online reports to the consumer fraud department of their state as well as other efforts. It is free, and when they go after him, it will not cost y'all anything.
 
I have been watching this thread since I started it, and I can say this goes alot deeper then I originally thought. I never did get my money back, but I really hope Bobby is brought to some justice.

On manta.com Bobby G Hill is listed as president of varnyard herps inc making $47,000 a year (thats alot of scamming at 150 to 300 a person)

after cross referencing "bobby g hill" with beenverified.com i found one result that matches "Bobby Grey Hill age 47 location Panama city Florida" and after further digging found these names some relatives some IDK Jewell Hill Cheryl Belt Linda Hill Laura Fuller Cheryl Heavrin. tho the site i found these names on identifies only Cheryl Belt as relative.

Next, and im surprised no one else did this but i googled his phone number and got this... Landline 5802 E HIGHWAY 22 APT 16 PANAMA CITY , FL 32404 BAY County.

lastly, tegutalk........ over a week now and still not activated and all i wanted to do is post my experience and a WTB ad, but i havent been so professionally ignored since my business with bobby.its no surprise now why the site formerly owned and operated by bobby has a forum called "Bobby Hill Came Through" and is actually stopping me from getting the facts to as many people as i can.

ill try to keep digging but dont know how much longer i can keep going. this was not the purchase of a pet for me it was an adoption. I went to who i was informed (by you the people) to be the best. This was supposed to be me adding a member to my family something i loved and cared for and already named. now i have nothing but a broken heart. I hate you bobby i hate you so much.

This may not be a popular opinion, but I have to agree that there's just something about that forum that didn't sit too well with me. Not since my noob days on RaysReptilia.com have I seen a forum that was so likely and willing to edit and delete posts. Ostensibly, there's no longer any direct connection between Bobby and TT, however, I couldn't help feeling that they had some interest in wanting to minimize his negative exposure. I'm not necessarily trying to cast aspersions, just being honest about the impression that I was left with.

Maybe I've just been spoiled by spending so much time on Fauna, where the members have much more freedom to call attention to even the ugliest truths. Either way, based on what I've seen there, if you're not made welcome, I don't think you'd be missing a whole lot.
 
I filled out IC3, informed my local police...I think I can not do anything else. If someone know some news about Bobby Hill let it know, now I am just curiuos what happend with him. I have ready housings for tegus. It is empty for long time and probably will be empty...who knows for how long.

Care to clarify mr. clark? It seems to me that you're advocating violence. Perhaps one should use caution in this area when one has dis-satisfied customers. Don't you have one or two of those yourself, mr. clark?

It seems like Ed was suggesting that Bells be that someone when he posted "Go for it."

I doubt a Sheriff would get involved, and don't necessarily agree with Ed's decision to post Bobby's home address.
However, I don't think Ed was advocating violence.

It was mr. clark, he who made the ambiguous statement, I asked for clarification, not his lackey, if such is now your position.

I've found that answering for others generally leaves the taste of foot in one's mouth. Is this true for you as well?
 
Its may be bobbys home address but its also the only address he gives out for his business. also no one ever said anything about becoming violent. Any person can go to any other persons residence just to ask some questions and see whats going on. If bobby didnt want all of this to happen he should not have stolen from so many people after years of being the best. personally i now resent any one who promotes him, whenever i see posts about tegus for sale or rehomings one of the first posts up is always "is it one of bobbys" and at this point i dont believe there is such a thing as a varnyard tegu. I find it hard to believe he could go so bad without dirty practices before 2012. the varnyard tegu does not exist it is a myth. I also implore anyone in florida to go to his address wheather its his home or not and just see if hes still there and if there are any tegus at all. Its not a crime to knock on a door of someone just to talk.
