Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Glades Herp Farms/Florida (RobRoy MacInnes) - fraudulent behaviour

If you have been in the herp game for a long time this should not surprise you, Glades has a long history of not paying people. It is the main reason for them not being allowed to vend at the Daytona show. Wayne was tired of it, people would show up from all over the world to collect their money and sometimes fights would break out.

Wow! this thread going for over a year, and glades has yet to step up,even to tell their side..obvious they are guilty..Wish I would of read all this before I went to Tinley this year..I will be sure to mention you Ben,next time I see them at Tinley. And what I think of their business habits..Sadly this is how most if not all corporations work,do what ever makes the most money per quarter,no matter who has to get screwed to do so..Glades those Cribos you had for sale I was interested in,you couldn't give them to me now!

I've purchased a few animals from Glades in the past... Out of 5-6 animals, roughly half were sexed wrong, and some were majorly under-weight... Like many of the previous posters, Glades will never get another dime from me.

To the OP: I hope you get the rest of your money, as they sold your animals a LONG time ago!

Rob

How much money is still owed to you Benjamin?
Have you seen them at the Hamm show? They used to frequent that show when I lived in Sweden.

Fort Myers man charged in Pennsylvania with snake trafficking

7:15 AM, Nov. 14, 2012 |

PHILADELPHIA - Prosecutors say two Florida men and their company have been charged in federal court in Philadelphia with trafficking endangered and threatened snakes.

The U.S. attorney's office said Tuesday that 54-year-old Robroy MacInnes of Fort Myers, 47-year-old Robert Keszey of Bushnell, and Glades Herp Farm Inc. are charged with conspiracy to traffic in the reptiles. MacInnes and the company were charged with trafficking in protected timber rattlesnakes.

Authorities allege that the defendants collected protected snakes in Pennsylvania and New Jersey between 2007 and 2008, bought protected eastern timber rattlesnakes illegally collected in New York and transported threatened eastern indigo snakes from Florida to Pennsylvania.

A message couldn't be left at the company Tuesday and a number listed for MacInnes remained busy; a message left for Keszey wasn't immediately returned.

Glades Herp was originally located on Palm Beach Boulevard in Fort Myers.

In 2004, McInnes sold the building and merged his operation with a 40-acre farm operated by Keszey in Bushnell.

MacInnes said he started Glades Herp in 1989 after a career that included "selling lizards when I was just a kid growing up in Miami" and getting a degree in wildlife biology before going into the reptile business full time.

Glade Herp Farm, Florida co-owners charged with rattlesnake trafficking
South Florida Business Journal
Date: Wednesday, November 14, 2012, 8:11am EST

Glade Herp Farm and its two Florida co-owners have been charged in Philadelphia with rattlesnake trafficking, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The indictment charges Robroy MacInnes of Fort Myers, Robert Keszey of Bushnell and their Glades Herp Farm with conspiracy to traffic in endangered and threatened reptiles. MacInnes and Glades have also been charged with trafficking in protected timber rattlesnakes in violation of the Lacey Act, which prohibits interstate trafficking in wildlife known to be illegally obtained, the news release said.

According to the indictment, between 2007 and 2008, the defendants collected protected snakes from the wild in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, purchased protected eastern timber rattlesnakes that had been illegally collected from the wild and transported federally threatened eastern indigo snakes from Florida to Pennsylvania. The indictment also charges that defendants MacInnes and Glades violated the Lacey Act by purchasing illegal eastern timber rattlesnakes and having the snakes transported to Florida, the news release said.

2 Florida Men Charged with Rattlesnake Trafficking
By DOJ, Tue, November 13, 2012

Robroy MacInnes, 54, of Fort Myers, Fla., Robert Keszey, 47, of Bushnell, Fla., and Glades Herp Farm Inc., were charged in a two-count indictment today in federal court in Philadelphia, announced Ignacia S. Moreno, Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division and Zane David Memeger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The indictment charges MacInnes, Keszey and the Florida business they co-own, Glades Herp Farm, with conspiracy to traffic in endangered and threatened reptiles, as well as charging MacInnes and Glades with trafficking in protected timber rattlesnakes in violation of the Lacey Act.

According to the indictment, between 2007 and 2008, the defendants collected protected snakes from the wild in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, purchased protected eastern timber rattlesnakes that had been illegally collected from the wild in violation of New York law, and transported federally threatened eastern indigo snakes from Florida to Pennsylvania.

The indictment also charges that defendants MacInnes and Glades violated the Lacey Act by purchasing illegal eastern timber rattlesnakes and having the snakes transported to Florida.

The eastern timber rattlesnake is a species of venomous pit viper native to the Eastern United States, and is considered endangered in New Jersey and threatened in New York. It is also illegal to possess an eastern timber rattlesnake without a permit in Pennsylvania.

The eastern indigo snake, the longest native North American snake species, is listed as threatened by both Florida and Federal law.

The Lacey Act, one of the oldest statutes in the United States, prohibits interstate trafficking in wildlife known to be illegally obtained. The maximum penalty for conspiring to commit offenses and for violations of the Lacey Act is up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each violation.

The allegations in the indictment are mere accusations and all persons are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

This case is being investigated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Law Enforcement. The case is being prosecuted by Patrick M. Duggan of the Environmental Crimes Section of the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Kay Costello of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania

APAIR of snake traffickers are facing federal charges for allegedly capturing rattlesnakes illegally in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to sell through their thriving mail-order reptile business.

Robroy MacInnes, 54, and Robbie Keszey, 47, are co-owners of the Glades Herp Farm in Florida. According to prosecutors, however, the two were illegally obtaining many of their rattlesnakes from Pennsylvania.

According to a federal indictment, MacInnes and Keszey made several trips to Sellersville, Easton and Jim Thorpe in 2007 and 2008 to illegally trap, and sometimes buy, federally protected eastern timber rattlers.

The poisonous reptiles were flown to Tampa, via commercial airlines, from Philadelphia International Airport. Back at the Glades Herp Farm in Bushnell, Fla., the snakes commanded prices up to $350 each, prosecutors said.

The traffic in reptiles allegedly went both ways. MacInnes and Keszey also shipped nonvenomous eastern indigo snakes to Sellersville, prosecutors said, in violation of the Lacey Act, which prohibits the interstate trafficking of unlawfully obtained wildlife.

Penalties for violating the Lacey Act can be harsh, up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each violation.

Two Charged With Dealing Rattlesnakes

PHILADELPHIA (CN) - Two Florida men were charged with illegally trafficking in threatened and endangered rattlesnakes, federal prosecutors said.

Robroy MacInnes, 54, of Fort Myers; Robert Keszey, 47, of Bushnell; and their business, Glades Herp Farm, were charged in a two-count indictment, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

All three defendants were charged with conspiring to traffic in endangered and threatened reptiles; MacInnes and Glades Herp Farm were charged with trafficking in protected Eastern timber rattlesnakes, in violation of the Lacey Act.

"According to the indictment, between 2007 and 2008, the defendants collected protected snakes from the wild in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, purchased protected eastern timber rattlesnakes that had been illegally collected from the wild in violation of New York law, and transported federally threatened eastern indigo snakes from Florida to Pennsylvania. The indictment also charges that defendants MacInnes and Glades violated the Lacey Act by purchasing illegal eastern timber rattlesnakes and having the snakes transported to Florida," the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.

The Eastern timber rattlesnake is endangered in New Jersey and threatened in New York. It is illegal to possess one without a permit in Pennsylvania.

The Eastern indigo snake is the longest snake native to North America; it can grow up to 9 feet. It is protected by Florida and federal law.
Violation of the Lacey act is punishable by up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.

Rattlesnakes, though generally feared, tend to be shy creatures that seldom bite unless threatened. They help control vermin and their venom is collected to be made into anti-venin.

Not at all surprised to hear they were busted, I wonder if that criminal Tom Crutchfield was involved but not caught?

I hope all involved are put away for a long time.

That is a totally uncalled for remark and totally off the topic of Glades Herps owing the OP.

Agreed. The comment relating to Tom Crutchfield should be removed.

Regarding Glades.... one word. Karma. I wonder if Animal Planet will drop them.

I do not think it is that far of a stretch wondering if the Glades herp boys are in cahoots with Tom Crutchfield. both are from the same area, both are in the same business. Tom Crutchfield is a convicted reptile smuggler the Glades herp boys witll soon be convicted reptile smugglers.

It is not that far of a stretch wondering if maybe Tom Crutchfirld is teaching the Glades herp boys a few of his tricks. lets see if they flee the country like Tom Crutchfield did.

Birds of a feather for sure.

Based on what I have read here I would say Glades Herp is not the place to purchase anything from.

Naw, not even close, they are about 240 miles apart. I know both parties and they do know each other, but for you to assume they are in cahoots, or that Tom is "teaching" a few of his tricks, is baseless and ignorant.
Glades Herp is, at the time being, innocent until proven guilty. You will look pretty foolish if they are found innocent now would you? But you don't seem to mind looking foolish, because of your ignorant post regarding this.
Stay on subject Ed, don't drag other people into this thread

Sorry Ed but you deserved the negative karma I left you for this post.

Did I deserve the retaliatory negative karma you left me for posting a question to a scammer in the classifieds here http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1538994#post1538994? I think not but we know how you roll http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/search.php?searchid=2737138

Since when is a BOI thread an acceptable place to discuss negative karma? The only time I can think of, offhand, is if the subject of the thread (in this case - Glades Herp) is using it to silence detractors. Since that is clearly not the case here, please don't muddy up this thread with disruptive comments.

I got a facebook notification today asking for paypal donations to their legal fund. Apparently they are asking for financial help to cover their legal fees
